isn't it amazing how the first note of a jazz music just set the perfect tone for so many different emotions, i'm having a jazz love affair
My names Ben Williams
The dawn of a new day track is on point.
I lived just down the hall from this guy at MSU, great to see him being so successful
Man, Ben has some incredible solo ideas.
Oh, Dawn of the Day was just immaculate! You know a song is gonna be great when you instantly rewind just to hear the first note again!
So far this is the best work to come out of this channel. Ben and his band are a real gem. Don t miss this. I think I've seen it at least 10 times.
best thing about tiny desk concerts is watching people try to work in the background.
really thats the best things? ..lol
You can tell it's early Tiny Desk when they just have their computer up in the foreground with a bunch of stuff open.
Yeah! Let's just get rid of the pesky musician in front so we can really enjoy the show!
Lol
I love this fella's taste and choice of notes. Reminds me of the great URB Bassist Ray Brown 👌🏿🔥
The Drummer... Funky!
Whole band is lit 🔥
Saw these guys at Newport last summer. Very tight crew. Great music.
Ben, this is my first time seeing you and it won't be the last . You guys are amazing . This is smart, cool , sophisticated and prodigious Jazz at its very best . Everyone in this group is so talented , and you all play so delightfully . This is top draw . Thank you all . George Lewis, Sr.
Ben, your guitar player is legit. Very smooth style. Been fun seeing you with Pat last couple of concerts.

Great sound... reminds me of the yellowjackets... Check out a band that went by the name "Steps" and also "Steps Ahead" circa1980/90's... New York City Records

Edit:
Listening to Mr. Ben Williams in 2020. He's like one of my favorite bass players!
Holy poop, this is groovy stuff
his playing reminds me so much of Paul Chambers and Charles Mingus
❤
@Abeba323 Thank you for your kind words. I'll try living up to them.

happy drum-guy is happy
not a bad office job to have
You're so right! I can actually concentrate better on the job with music like this rather than quiet chatter.
I think he is actually part of Metheny's group now.
What size sticks are ya using,,,,amen Sounds Great Heavenly,,,7A'S my guess....Drummers need to realize we can play soft and groove Ty for posting this
Do none of you know that jazz has been b-w integrated longer than almost anything? no need to talk about tokens here, just enjoy the groove!
That drummer makes this whole set lol
9:30 oh cool, Ben, okay
7:02 the lick
Could you please get Ben Monder on here? :)
wow, amazing. i am interested on how to get this recording quality? I only see 1 mic....any respond would be greatly appreciated.
Haha! Brotha on the skins makes think of Omar Hakim from I think Sting's Bring on the Night or something. Maybe that was his intent, to pay homage to Omar. He definitely pulled it off.
这个桌子沙龙真棒
lucky i had the privilege of jammin at school with El Benhameen
@jaksspring97
hey man i completely understand your view, as a person and a musician who has only gotten into jazz in the past 3 years I wanted to let you know that just like any other genre you have to listen to the "right" stuff that appeal to you first and then you get swept in so to say.
So what have you listened to as far as jazz goes? I would like to help you find some jazz artists you like if you would allow me too.
Thelonius Monk
Who are the musicians?
how is that one guy simply working in the background?
what's the name of the guitar player? he's sooo inspiring!!
Gilad Hekselman.. check him out with Ari Hoenig, and his solo stuff.. he's a bad dude.
thanks, Campbell, I'll check him out :)
It's Marcus Strickland.
Great band and tunes, superb playing...only remark is that Gilad Hekselman sounds a bit too influenced by Kurt Rosenwinkel.
Teach me drums, I wanna learn
guitar solo was cool, wish it would have been a little more dangerous
the guy working away at 2:37..... smh......
YOU DONT KNOW HIS LIFE YOU DONT KNOW THE PAIN BOB PUTS HIM THROUGH EVERY DAMN DAY
is that jd allen?
maybe it's late and i'm delirious but does anyone else think the first song, "home" sounds similar to strasbourg/st. denis by roy hargrove quintet?
i dont hear it haha, amazing song though, especially live in france
Matthew Coglianese i think i was baked when i wrote that. listening to this again, i'm hearing similar elements for sure but they don't sound as similar as what i remember
foda-se brutal, parabens!
gilad hekselman on guitar
Drummer: John Davis
@jaksspring97 That's some high quality elevator music. Are you by chance Willy Wonka?
Anybody know who the drummer is?
DC cat!!
@Eoraptor1 @jaksspring97 @SILOETTE100page wish everyone in youtube comments sections responded with as much civility as you guys. the world really DOES have enough "internet tough guys"...thanks :)
