[4K] Walking in Château d'Oléron, Île d'Oléron, Charente-Maritime, FRANCE

Château d'Oléron est un important port ostréicole du bassin de Marennes-Oléron. Principale agglomération du sud de l'île, cette ancienne cité fortifiée s'étend en contrebas de sa citadelle, ouvrage fortifié achevé par Vauban. Autrefois résidence des gouverneurs d'Oléron, elle est aujourd'hui un des principaux pôles économiques de l'île. Très touristique, son centre historique est constitué de maisons traditionnelles bordant des rues se coupant à angle droit, formant un large secteur piétonnier. D'anciennes cabanes d'ostréiculteurs, rénovées, abritent aujourd'hui des ateliers d'artistes et d'artisans.
