Disney has become so overwhelming and confusing since Covid. If they would just return to operating like they did precovid everyone would be happy.
You’re not wrong
It’s not confusing at all. The pods made it sound awful, It cost the same as a lunch most days. I wouldn’t pay $30 for it. I used it every year they offered it. A Senior citizen solo traveler..
Btw, you scan into your lighting lane, book your next in line. You do not walk around with your face in your phone.
Absolutely is confusing (this coming from a years-long AP holder. WDW is really not fun anymore (sad to say).
Man I wish we could just go back to the days of paper fast passes... I love technology but sometimes i really hate it... xD
Or just do away with this altogether. You pay admission to the park, one line for everybody.
@@reddbeagle0813 Why? Tickets were available to anyone in the park, and meant that everyone would get to ride more...
The reservation times are what get me. I understand the reasoning for it but it just makes the park experience stressful bc you have to basically plan your day ahead of time. Universal’s Express pass is just a separate line to go in at any time. No reservations and you can just enjoy your day without worrying about time constraints.
I can’t think of very many things Disney has done that is more hated than Genie Plus.
They sh😢just Bring back the original fast pass.
Calling it Multi-pass and Single-pass at least makes it very clear as to what it is. Right now many guests are very confused with the current naming (Individual Lightening Lanes, Lightening Lanes & Genie +).
Agreed! It’s better for sure but I still think just using Fastpass+ and then the individual rides called Lightning Lane makes more sense personally
Still hate the Paid fast pass, no matter what they call it. People seem to forget you are paying to get into the park, to pay for Genie LL or what ever they want to call it.
I would love for the free version to return but it’ll never happen. They make too much money from it now and every theme park charges for a cut the line system so it’s become the norm
Don't like it, Don't go..Simple
Yep, simple enough.
I barely want to even bring my phone into the park, and have to worry about it on every ride.. This forces you to use it all day long
We have no desire to return to Disney Parks at this juncture.
And your point is what?
Bob Iger right now: Sobbing, banging his head against the wall, screaming, “I’m so sorry small UA-cam channel themersive, so, so sorry!” “It wasn’t you, it was us!” “We will bring back old fast pass, we will get rid of all IP’s and screens in the park!” “Just please consider visiting Disney at this juncture!” He screams, throwing a chair across the room. “Maybe one day, we will be good enough where you will watch Disney update videos to know what your next trip is going to be like, instead of commenting the same thing every Disney video you watch.” “Maybe, one day, if we’re good enough, you will change your profile picture to the Cinderella castle, hell, even a neutral thumbnail would be fine, just please, come back!!!”
Anyway, that’s what Themersive is thinks is going on right now.
@@PokemanmonZip up his pants when you're done.
I don't care about the name but I'm not going back if this nickel and diming crap stays. You pay an entrance fee and that should be it.
To be fair, and I’m no Disney apologist, but all theme parks charge for their cut the line systems
💯
Lol. SEE YA
Not only that, Disney is the deal of the century compared to other theme parks, in this regard. Universal charges up to FIVE TIMES as much in USH, as Genie+.
I’d much prefer the pay to ride system, then dealing with the old Fastpass, where you would have to walk to Mordor to schedule new Fastpass bookings.
I think any fast service is same as allowing wealthy to cutting in line. The standard lines would move faster if there wasn't line cutting to start with.
Lol. WTF are you smoking?
@@BAKER22-l4uidk but I wish I had some! 😂
Absolutely right. The wealthy can afford all these extra fees just to access a ride. The poor unwashed who are really stretching themselves just to enter are penalized. Walt would be appalled at these complex money-grabbing strategies.
I feel like Disney parks should implement a "virtual queue" in the way I have seen other parks do. I am referring to the method of scanning a QR code at the entrance to the ride, and you will be placed in line. If there is a 65 minute wait for the ride, you are placed in the virtual queue and you go off and do whatever in the park while you "wait in line." Then when you get down to like 15 minutes left in your wait, you head back and physically wait in line for much less time. Hopefully I'm making sense with my explanation.
I get what you’re saying. They do this with select rides via the app and essentially that’s what they attempt to do with what was Fastpass+ but is now Lightening Lane.
I love that idea! Which parks have that? I wonder if Disney’s numbers would result in this being more challenging. You would have hundreds in a line waiting to scan in to the virtual que.
@@kayjay5143volcano bay
They do this but only with tron and guardians
This is literally how "DAS" works.. you use the app to tell the computer what ride you want to go on and it slips you into the virtual queue and then when the time comes you just walk to the attraction and go through the lightning lane.
I feel the universal studios system is better I wish disney would go to that system. you Just buy a pass then get in line and you can only ride once on every ride. Also make it expensive so people are less likely to get it
I can’t wait until I go in August. I might just get unlimited express for a day. Actually it might be unnecessary if I do a meetup in the middle of the trip
It’s still basically a lottery system. When you log in to get your 3 passes along with thousands of other people what are your chances of getting the most popular ones like Frozen or Slinky dog? It’s also just plain stupid to put the shows in there. You don’t need a lightening lane for the shows! Also plan for prices to go up with these changes.
💯 agree, universal is waaaaay easier. Virtual Que there is easy too. Everything is easier in Universal Studios
Just came back from Disney. The Genie + system was so miserable, waking up in the middle of the night the day of to purchase, and making sure to be up at 7 to purchase the first one. I was so exhausted and sick by the end of the trip. So glad it’s being changed back. I’m confused what genius thought the current system would be a great idea.
That’s the most common complaint we hear and I’ve had questions about that system since it launched lol
The system doesn’t work for guests, it is just cheap enough almost everyone buys it which brings in so much money for Disney. The only way they will ever lower prices is mega scale boycott.
Exactly
Your authenticity shines through in every video. It's what sets you apart. Keep being real!
Lol. You obviously DIDN'T listen
I just worry that hotel guests will grab up all lightning lanes before the rest of us. Like if I visit orlando and stay with a friend living there to save on a hotel, how much will the new lightning lane system be beneficial to me?
I'm wondering the same thing. We never stay on property.
I believe this is a step in the right direction, give us time to prepare before getting to Disney World. My only concern is pricing, it doesn't seem like Disney said anything about pricing and if that is the case, we can probably expect an increase to LL... unless it will free again like Fastpass
It’s not going to be free but I would assume the pricing will be the same as genie+ at least to start
Thanks for the update. Any predictions on costs?
I miss Fast Pass. So simple and easy.
The good ole days
Nothing is as enjoyable when you have to pay for it,Disney is becoming a pain in my *** .The naming is absolutely a mess,I'm also tired of virtual queues,we need standby available for Guardiand,Tron and Tiana and more singles lines where possible.
Lol..Then STOP crying and DON'T go..Simple
@BARKER22-l4u Oh I'm going to go but I'm def gonna whine!
What about guests who don't live in the US or Canada? We can't access Genie+ from our contries. Do you have any ideia of how are we going to book in advance if we aren't in the US?
As of now the details are still coming out but whatever details we can get we will talk about on our podcast this week for sure
As most of us do... You use a VPN.
@@TheMarleyboy2 first thing i've tried and it still says i need to be in the US or Canada
we are staying off site for our visit to disneyworld in nov, do you think we will get the bad times for lightning lanes? bc we only get 3 days in advance?
You will be at a disadvantage for sure vs staying on Disney property. We will have to wait and see how the system ultimately operates but with attractions being tiered and not letting people book the same attraction twice in a day should help with people being able to have more availability
My issue is, even if I can book 7 days before my trip, people who have longer trips that get there before I do can book lightening lanes for my dates before I can. So by the time I can reserve, wouldn’t people checking in before me already have taken all the lightening lanes?
YES!!!! You my friend get it. Many do not.
Exactly. And the only way to have more options when booking is by booking longer trips. If you book a 14 day trip for example, once you get mid way though you should have very good availability. Clearly trying to get people to stay longer.
Perfectly describes the annoying part of FP+ and ADR.
I like the prebooking 3 rides but now I can't stack lightning lanes for later in the day and hang out at the pool in the morning.
no one has yet to mention the risk of when your 7 day booking window comes up, that the people who could book days before you could have scored all the ride times and when you try all the good rides are Sold out. You are stuck with bad rides. How are they going to handle that?
1/ Please help. We are staying from September 22-October 15. This 14 day limit thing, obviously we are over so what do we have to do?
2/ We aren’t US citizens, visiting from Australia. Can we buy the individual Lightning Lane Single Passes ?
3/ Do you plan on doing some tip videos on best choices as patterns emerge?
I still don’t like the fact you have to buy the multi pass before seeing what’s actually available. If Disney resort guests can book 7 days in advance how will non guests know if any rides are left to book before purchasing. At least with the current genie+ everyone regardless had to choose on the same day. It’s basically like buying a lottery ticket!!
I believe you can see what is available before purchasing it. I think. Not 100% sure on that though
The last thing I want to do is have to worry about planning and scheduling on my vacation.
It will be interesting to see how much these are when they launch. There should be a tiered discount for the more days you purchase, with the price getting down to at least $10 per person per day for between 10-14 days or something.
I'm guessing they will keep the same Genie+ pricing structure as of now but they haven't said anything on the pricing front that I'm aware of
Forgive me if my memory is wrong on this, but when you said when using the multi pass, it was the same as FP+. I think a noticeable (and better) change is that once you've used a pass on a ride, you can book another. In other words, always holding 3 passes at a time. With old FP+, you had to use up all 3 of your prebooked selections before you could book another, and then another, etc.
I was meaning generally speaking it's basically the same system but yes that change is a good one
@capthemagic I agree. My wife and I loved the old FP+ during our several trips in the years leading up to Covid. The only change I'm still holding out hope for is multiple rides on the same ride (even if it's not for Teir 1). But this is looking like a few good steps in the right direction! Thanks for the video!
Hello, I have seen other people mentioning that the new Lightning Lane booking process will not be available to International guests until they arrive in the USA. Have you heard anything about this? I am from the UK and have a Disney resort stay booked for November this year so am keen to find out if this is the case. Thanks for your help
Apparently this is the case as of now... which makes zero sense
@@capthemagic Thanks for coming back to me so quickly to confirm this. Hopefully they may put something in place to help international guests in future (I can but hope!) 😊
Disney would solve their issues by making it like express. What they decided to to instead was make genie into an add on that basically made your entry more expensive (but within reach), and because of the fact that everyone pretty much has been buying them, you are in essense forced to buyt it as well.
Yeah, but express pass is five times the cost of Disney’s plan. It’s ridiculous. How much they charge for that crap. Universal is still going to be a one day event for me, and Disney will take all the rest of the days. And even when epic universe opens up, I’m not going to that area of the park for a couple of years because of how crowded it’s gonna be. Universal is always so crowded. Even during Covid, they had no idea how to control crowds
Am i reading it wrong?? So lets say im going to magic kingdom. According to the example, if i want the multi pass, it would be 27 dollars, but i wont be able to get tron with that 27 dollars. So if i want tron i have to spend an extra 20 dollars just to ride tron as a lightning lane, so after taxes, im spend 50 dollars just for lightning lane??? So they are still double dipping depending on rides??
What is the price of this though ?
I mean at least it isn’t the 60 days in advance like before, less planning to do before the trip
I kinda liked the 60 days but at least it’s not every 7am morning of your trip to do this stuff
@@capthemagic It may still be 7 AM or midnight (or whenever Disney decides) every day if you are staying off property. You can only book 3 days out. So if you are staying 7 days, you will have to fight for fastpasses for days 4-7 during you vacation. Why couldn't they make it a couple of weeks out? I prefer the current system as it is more like the old paper fastpasses in that you could stack multiple fastpasses for later in the day. 3 fastpasses just isn't enough, and by the time you use your 3, anything left isn't worth getting.
So many changes. Just need it to be free ORR make it more exclusive. Noone should be paying $30 pp to still wait an hour
It’ll never be free again and I plan to do a video on this later but wait times have been improved since the changes to the DAS system so we will have to see how all this effects wait times
@@capthemagic i have never bought gp and im lucky that when i went my bro in law had das. But oh my days i wouldve been raging if we did pay for gp or ll for the 4 of us, and still waited an hour for indiana and space mountain
Free? Lol. .Those days are LONG GONE
@@BAKER22-l4u ok? And any logical non greedy ceo would know to make it free for disney hotel guests and make non staying guests pay. Stop being so annoying
Call it Fast Pass (paid) and Fast Pass+ (Individual)
The year after Covid I saw a family try to buy tickets at the gate. The family had no concept of sold out or planning ahead.
And?
But guests STILL have to pay in order jump the lines for the park attractions. That was my main beef with Genie+ in the first place.
In Disney’s defense (which I don’t do often), every major theme park in the world charges for their cut the line system. It’s become the norm for theme parks
@@capthemagic Yeah, um . . . I understand that. I just hate it.
Just returned from Disney after not having been in 13 yrs. This will be my last trip. It's so expensive and they squeeze it out of you the whole time you are there. Lines are long. Line cutting is out of control. I could go to Europe for 1/2 the money I just dropped. Not worth it to me any more.
I can’t even imagine what that dynamic of 13 years between visits was like. I can say even in the past 7-8 years the parks have changed dramatically and IMO not for the better
These upcharge nightmares are a great benefit for rich people. The wealthy can afford all these extra fees just to access a ride. The poor unwashed, who are really stretching themselves just to enter, are penalized. Walt would be appalled at these complex money-grabbing strategies.
I agree that Walt wouldn’t like this stuff but we’re talking about vastly different timelines and business environments. Not justifying it by any means but nowadays theme parks in general are for the middle-upper middle class and cater to those who can spend more money.
Cant book in advance from the UK unfortunately which is very disappointing. Once we hit US soil we can book but others will have got in beforehand so it isn't a fair system for all visitors. Many UK fb groups are not happy about this at all
The whole international limitations makes zero sense. I swear they can't ever roll things out clean, always have some sort of hiccup or issue
Lightning Lane Multi Pass / Lightning Lane Single Pass: long and complicated names.
Why they don't just call them: Multi Fast Pass and Single Fast Pass ? More simple and shorter.
Another nickel and dime and hassle for the guests. This is Disney now. Get used to it if you plan on continuing visiting their parks.
The park guests have an entire company’s profitability on their shoulders. Heavy responsibility.
If we all voted with our wallets, none of this would exist. People nowadays are lazy and don’t want to wait for anything.
Great..Now tell us something we DIDN'T know
Many times I have purchased Disney Genie + and not been able to benefit from the Lightning Lane in either Disneyland Resort nor the WDW Resort since it's inception.
One of the issues with Genie+ has always been it’s not an easy stream to pickup and just use. It takes practice and strategy to get the most out of it
Thank goodness! We go once, maybe twice a year and what a nightmare...could NOT stand being chained to my phone, not to mention complicating all other planning. Heading down in late Aug. Fingers crossed it will work as well as Fast Pass+😄
You started reading the article and I accidentally spaced out because it was so boring. Stop this overcomplication, Disney!
I tried to make it as entertaining as possible lol
Why not just call it Super Rich VIP lane to avoid the slower poor peasant troll lanes.
People have been saying for over 3 years that Genie* was stupid and waking up at 6:0 AM everyday was idiotic. Whoever thought that was a good idea should have been fired.
I never understood why they didn't just keep the Fastpass+ system when they were going to start charging for it
I think Walt would be annoyed by this money grab corporate nonsense. Once Fast Pass OG paper tix went away it became a nickel and dime craziness. Call me old school then.
Agreed. I think it’s safe to say Walt would have lots of issues with how his company is currently run in general.
"WE LISTNED" ???
Iger is finally listening. I understand covid happened. I understand Disney lost money. But charging more isnt the answer
We all lost money.
Yes it is
I feel like they’re still taking all the worst parts of a concert experience and putting it into a family trip. I absolutely love concerts. But do I love buying tickets the moment they go on sale or needing to pay additional Premium Fees to get a better ticket or ticket at all? Heck no!
The rides and wait times would not be anywhere as bad as they are now if they just used the full output of the ride for a single queue.
It should be free if you stay on property.
Lol..NEVER gonna happen
Or at least if you're staying at a Deluxe hotel like what Universal does
How about not charging extra to have a chance of getting on a ride? Level the playing field and stop being so greedy.
I criticize Disney a lot but in this case every theme park charges for a cut the line system so I don’t fault them for doing it but the system they’ve used since doing it has not been good IMO
LEELOO DISNEY MULTIPASS
Here is a simple answer to all of this pay per ride. You get into the parks for free you are given an bracelet with a chip that is linked to your CC each ride cost x amount of dollars similar to the A-E tickets.
A rides $5
B rides $7
C rides $10
D rides $12
E rides $15
This is a win win for everyone Disney will find that rides that don't get much use will now yet more people riding because of the low cost lines will be more spread out across the park peop.e who just want to go in and watch shows and do some shopping can now do that at no cost similar too Disney Springs. Disney will be more inclined to make better attractions get higher priced riders. And my guess is peop.e will end up spending more but getting better value foe there money riding the rides they want to ride not feeling like they are getting nicked and dimed at every turn
The problem with all of these systems is once people figure it out, it fails like Fast Pass and Genie Plus. The only way to resolve it is to make it expensive, like close to or more than the price of a ticket. That limits the amount of people that would use it which prevents it from affecting the stand by queues. It just can't be effective at $30, it needs to be like $130+.
Probably right but I doubt they will do that because of the backlash they would get… I’m guessing by cutting out the DAS fraud it makes more room for Lightning Lane
Thank God they are fixing that! I only go once every 2 years on average and the Genie Plus was horrible for the one person in the group who gets stuck on their phone all day. It was so stressful too and I found myself apologizing to the group when I failed at securing a ride. No vacation for me! I started going to Universal more to avoid the stress!
There were a lot of people who felt the same way. It typically puts all the pressure on the moms as they are the planners 9/10. Universal’s way of doing things is much less stress absolutely
Yeah, I don't like the name either. 😝
They need to do what universal does just show up to express and ride the ride. Without scrolling on your phone and make an option like universal has bye express and unlimited express
I like Universal’s system much better but I don’t see Disney ever doing it
Sounds ok to me. It’ll never go back to being free unfortunately. At least this way you can start booking rides a week in advance.
Typical Dismal Disney. They take a mile and give us an inch and we are all supposed to be so happy! 🤦 I have not gone back since Genie plus started and this is a sad attempt to try and bring me back. Still not going. It’s just not worth it.
That’s fair. I think it’s an improvement in the system but will have to wait and see how it works next month
So don't go, but please be a salty whiner on a disney UA-cam channel. Seems like you just can't afford it, anyway.
@@joeviv Well I’m not a Disney shrill sell out like you. But I do understand you need to be cause you have to pay for all that suntan lotion for that chrome dome you have.
The problem is is that fastpass was once free. So until they return to that it is a dupe and an exaggerated cost on an already hyper expensive ticket pricing system.
Everyone keeps complaining we need to get kids (& adults) off their phones… yet Disney FORCES everyone to use their phones in the park 🙄 I wanna escape reality at Disney.. not have my nose in my phone. I refuse to use any of this stuff. My money is staying in my pocket.
This is the biggest fallacy that one had to be on their phone ALL the time with Genie plus. NOT TRUE and I wish people would stop saying that. You book the LL and then for 2 hours you don't have to look at your phone. If I wanted to refresh for better times I could always do that while in line when I'm not doing anything anyway. And I guarantee people spend more time doing other stuff on their phone all day anyway.
To each their own, but the feedback we got from most listeners was the complaint that they had to be on their phone all day to get the most out of it. This new system at least allows ou to not have to start your day off on your phone to plan your day I suppose
@@capthemagic I think people just say that because other people say that and think they have to then do it, so its a perpetual cycle. But people can get by just fine not booking something every 2 hours. I am on my phone more looking at menus and what I want to eat than booking rides. New system not allowing afternoon stacking is not good for me.
People will keep paying no matter what. If I ran Disney I would keep raising prices every 3 months. People don’t mind it so why not?
Universal runs their fast pass lane so much better!!
Universal’s is more expensive but I do enjoy it more. The free Express Pass after 4pm for Premiere AP’s is a huge perk
It's about time but to little to late!
Disney is no more... sad..
It’s already expensive to enter a park on Disney property $150+ $30 to park at the parks if you’re not staying at a Disney property. And food has gotten way too expensive
2020 was our last trip to Disney World, we still have no plans to return. Never again.
They don’t you there anyway
@@jaredfamily123People like you keep saying this. And you are happy to support a place that apparently dislikes the majority of their customers. Why would you even say this to someone? It is incredibly rude.

That will put people off coming.
As of now that is correct. Makes no sense to me
Yes, let's make something " gone" by changing the name! Lol! Soon people will have to go to a special disney school just to understand how to get into the park!
Disney has almost needed a masterclass to figure it out for years now. I think this new system is potentially an improvement over genie+ in many aspects, it’s not perfect and not as good as Fastpass+ was
They could have named it multi rip off and single rip off😮😮disney is finished universal 2025
A trip to disney is not for the average family. Its an experience limited to the upper middle / wealthy class.
Lol. IGNORANT FOOLISH, IDIOTIC and NOT true
Well we won't be flying over then.
International tourism brings in a hello of a lot of money as they spend 2 or more weeks.
Ya, I can’t understand at all why they would be doing this to international travelers
Disney has fooled you into thinking any of this is okay!
I said it’s an improvement from the previous system and in an ideal world free Fastpass would come back but that’s just not going to happen, at least under current leadership.
I like Universal’s Xpress Pass system much more than Disney’s personally speaking. Just calling balls and strikes as I see them
This new system is a huge slap in the face to APs and locals. Everyone has an equal opportunity with Genie+ every day. This new system completely erases the ability for anyone to have a spontaneous trip to the parks, and still requires you to be on your phone constantly. What a shame.
Lol. WTF is WRONG with you?
It definitely is gearing the system to the casual park going crowd vs locals/AP's
They don’t care as much about AP and locals. You all don’t spend as much money because you go frequently with little expense. People like me go maybe once a year at most, and we spend thousands on hotel rooms, ticket packages, etc. I’m not saying it’s right, but that’s how Disney sees it.
@@josephbrown9685 I think that a better way to give hotel guests an added perk would be to just give them 3 lightning lane experiences per day to use at whatever attraction they would like. Instead, Disney has opted to completely trash the guest experience of those coming for only one day. I really hope that there will be multiple batches released of lightning lane passes, because if the good rides are unavailable by the time single-day ticket holders and APs can access them, more and more people will just opt to go to Universal.

Disney I am not the one ☝🏻
This is pure corporate greed. Trying to extract more money from guests who've already paid admission to the park. Disney would charge for the air you breathe in their parks if they could...
I don't disagree and I'm no Disney apologist but all theme parks charge for a cut the line service so in that way they are in line with theme park norms. The system itself hasn't worked great IMO since they started charging for it though
so... new name, same garb. Mkay. moving on. T_T wake me up when they give a crap about their customers again. :(
Just another step towards Bob Iger and Disney's destruction, financial downfall and greed of the company. Just more nickel and dimming of the park guests.
I'm a d v c member so I just stay at the disney resorts and go to universal and don't have to worry with any of this.
You can set ride reservations “prior to your visit.” This is really bad. They need to make it so you can’t set them until you’re scanned in the park. Nobody likes this reservation crap.
Disney.
Is dead
Thing is people wouldn’t abuse das if we didn’t have to pay or pay so much 🥹
Well, with that logic it’s like saying it’s ok to steal from someone if they raise the price or charge for something they didn’t use to. All other theme parks charge for their cut the line system if we’re being honest here
@@capthemagic but other parks charge less for entry wheress Disney charges like 200 for no reason
I’m not saying I agree with Disney on many things, I have plenty of critisms but they are the most popular theme park destination in the world and they are allowed to price it how they feel. Doesn’t mean we or anybody has to agree with it but abusing DAS and other things aren’t the way to go about it I would say
Lol
