Wow you did go to a lot of trouble, all the caps done!!, or 'Craps' as i often call them :-D
The heatsink is the power supply cooler, gotta dump the excess waste heat in a linear supply.
A switchmode supply would have leaked all sorts of noise into the circuits.
I like the switch cleaner use :-D
Maybe a tiny drop of light oil on the mechanism if possible.
Don't mess with the recording bias if possible, it can be a swine to get right again.
Ill shut up now, well done :-D

Yeah, I wont mess around with the bias without good reason. I have been thinking about dropping some machine oil in the head changer, trying to convince myself that it is a good idea. Manual doesn't say anything about it. I'm only worried about unintended consequences with the plastics. consulting with the manufacturers website, they don't recommend this oil on plastic. I'll go look for some synthetic oil tomorrow.
I am getting pretty excited to get it hooked up and check the W&F performance. I suspect it will be excellent.

@@felix_da_katze if you can see the points to be lubed, use a length of solid copper wire (small dia) coated with oil to brush up against the points.
Don't just tip oil in, it will go everywhere.
You don't have to do it, i'm sure the mechanism is worn in by now ha ha :-D
I often sound like i'm telling you what to do. i don't mean it to sound that way.

No worries. That's not a bad idea with the wire. What I went for was a set of syringes with blunt needles they had just for this purpose. I got some silicone oil, and put a few drops around and worked it in. Seems to be working ok, though I wonder if it wont be a dirt magnet long term.
I hooked it up to my Edirol UA-1EX and it sounds brilliant. Really very good, much better than I was expecting. Prelim W&F was hovering around 0.05-0.06 which I think is probably as close to spec as it can be.
More to come in a day or two, got to go get a few parts tomorrow.
