- Our itinerary first took us to the lush cloud forest of Monteverde where we stayed in the El Establo Mountain Hotel. After a week of forest therapy, we drove down the mountains to the hot and humid coast of Guanacaste and stayed at the palatial Riu Guanacaste.
Our first trip to Costa Rica was in 2012 and over the years, the country has become one of our favorite destinations; we fell in love with the warm and welcoming people, the environmental diversity, and the natural beauty of the land.

The cloud forest is magical and educational with its rich flora and fauna. I now have to educate myself about the golden toad.
