I pick mine up tomorrow, I'm nervous and excited. I'm coming over of course from only ICE, I have other vehicles but this will be the only EV. Had/Have a 22’ Ram 1500 Limited Longhorn and wanted to try something different with going with another Ram, love that truck though. I know they are not reliable, but option-wise great bang for your buck inside and out!!
@@lom2981 I love every mile of it. It’s very easy to drive with the help of the 4-wheel steering. It doesn't feel as heavy as it is. It can get away from you when you punch it with “Thors Hammer”. I use the portable dual-level charger to charge it when needed. I installed the 240 Nema plug, just ensure that the plug is EV-rated not the ones from Home Depot. This truck gets a lot of attention so be prepared to talk about it. Make sure you go through the infotainment screens there are a lot of settings to ensure the truck is set how you like it, I.e. Lowering the truck on the exit, turning off charging indicator lights especially if you park it in the driveway. The panoramic roof does not let the UV rays in you forget it's up there so you don't need the shade if it had one. The cabin is quiet and insulated well. I do wish they did a higher upgraded speaker system. Is it good? Yes, but they could have done more speakers at least 4 more so it doesn't feel like front-firing focus. A lot of piano black on the exterior so I was by hand. There is no Apple carplay which I was a little upset at first. Besides not getting text notifications the “Hey Google” is super easy to use and it will show charging stations on your road trips, I haven't been on one yet though. The GM app needs some work it does the basics, but it just takes time to relay to the vehicle sometimes and sometimes it won't remote start from the App when plugged in or give me updates when I refresh the app. The CyberTruck has nothing on the look of this truck. I even had someone who was driving a Model Y say how good this truck looks. At night this thing looks amazing. It has the side marking lights like a 2500HD which the Hummer doesn't have and with the front light set up you know what truck is what. Any questions just ask if I know I will answer them.
I love the exterior design of this truck. The front end has a concept-car look to it…almost futuristic. I also love the flexibility of the mid-gate. Thank you for another great review!
Researching the big EV's for the past 6 years. Had the hummer suv reserved and after test driving this truck, my love for the hummer has switched to my new EV love... this truck by far is worth it over the others. Getting mine by the end of the year!
Pretty nice truck, I saw the Chevy version in person a few weeks ago and I was very impressed and almost tempted until my wife brought me back down to earth 😂. She hates EVs more than I do. To be fair though, GM is doing some great things with EV technology. The Chevy looked awesome in black.
Good information I’ve been away from gmc for a while does the truck have its own navigation or does it rely on Onstar? Does the truck have self driveing capabilities?
Gmc does have the super cruise option on the higher end cars and trims. Also with the navigation it will stipulate if it’s onstage on the msrp sticker in the video. Hopefully that helps
I apologize, bro, the masses were right there is no car play at all. They had it in the manual and all. They stopped moving forward with it in this truck. I’m enjoying the truck it is a quiet, smooth ride, seats are more comfortable than the Ultimate. Supercruise works as expected, the HUD gives you what's needed, but Ultimates is better. No massaging seats, wireless charging is a better layout in this truck. 24’ ICE trucks have it, as confirmed when I was given the 1500 Ultimate not wireless. No auto entry/exit lowering of the truck it is manual. I have to confirm if Homelink is on the screen because there is no physical button, but has a screen for universal remotes. The panoramic roof so far blocks out that annoying sunbeam feel and heat, it gets cold in there its double-pane glass. No start button just step on the brake. Light animation is cool at night on entry. The tonneau cover doesn't stretch to close. The Bose system sounds way better than I thought coming from a limited Longhorn 22’. The gauge cluster can get a full map which is a plus. Thor’s Hammer is awesome and the camera system is great. I wish at slow speeds cameras came up like in my wife’s Panamera GTS. I'll keep y'all posted, sorry for the long post, but if you want something that looks like an EV on the inside this is it. If you want more traditional with a lot of options and like a normal luxury truck on the inside RAM Rev when available. Excuse the mistakes.
@@VagabondBuilds I will tell you I was a little disappointed ONLY because I didn’t know where everything was. Everything is in that screen and you need to go through EVERY option on the screen. I’ll give you 2 examples. 1. I tried to change my media source while driving while initially on using my BLUETOOTH connected phone 😂😢😂. So when I stopped I went to media and the regular options popped up, so I started driving to see if it can be changed now while driving and yes it can. 2. There is no physical HomeLink button so I asked the salesman does it have it, he said “No”. Might have been scared to say yes after the CarPlay thing. So later on got on the screen and start going through menus and found a tab for “Universal Remotes” that you pair with your handheld if you have one through the rear view mirror. Once saved and if you saved the location when you pull up to your home it will pop up in place of the Vehicle off button and there you have it. So many options that aren’t initially activated that NOW I can say I’m fully excited about the purchase. I do wish Google maps updates to give us the option for satellite view on the maps and also some way to at minimum get your text notifications on the screen. If safety is the reason no Apple CarPlay then they are still forcing the driver to handle their phone while driving. Which proves it’s about the money. The infotainment screen is the key to unlock more comfort feature so all is not lost!! I’m happy
Absolutely gorgeous truck! But no shade for the panoramic sunroof?! GM, NOOOO! That's a major minus. I live in Houston. During summer, spring, and half of Fall, everyone in the truck would bake like rotisserie chickens.
Alot of people want Elon musk to have a monopoly on the ev car market so they make up garbage about electric vehicles not being desired by consumers. There is a reason Tesla is worth more than multiple car companies combined. Car companies are not taking the EV fight seriously.
I think it would but it would take up the whole thing. I'm putting my groceries in there so I don't have to crawl into the bed, so excited about it. One of the biggest pains of trucks as a daily driver solved! I feel like if I off roaded a spare tire would be necessary, but with a truck like this I'm not really going off the beaten path. I'd probably just call for a tow vs changing my own tire anyway so I'm not going to miss it.
I've wondered this.. it is a great idea but there must be a reason they don't do it.. maybe constantly charging is bad for the battery.. also what happens when the battery is full.. can't shit the panels off like a charger.. where does the excess energy go?
@@VagabondBuildsYes, any model 23’ and later, but as far as wireless goes I can confirm for you tomorrow. People just get in the comments and spit out stuff they can't even prove and/or have older trucks!!
