It's not so much "tree hugging" as it's Greg (singer, main songwriter) having a different idea of Man's place in the world than most people. He's really into Evolutionary Biology. Most of the gaps between albums/tours in the band's history have been when he was either working on his doctorate or studying in the field. He wrote a book that's half band history, half talking about evolution. It's actually a really interesting book. Every fan should read it
I've seen Cowspiracy, Chasing coral and some parts of a documentary called Programmed obsolescence (i'ts in catalan) in a few days and this song says it all.
That is true... But I'd take that a step further and say there isn't an artist in history that could compare with the intelligence in Greg's lyrics in general
@TheLiamwinters Well yes, there could be. I personally don't think so. I understand what you're saying and I'm fine with people who belive in god aslong as they do not force their belifes on other people, and A5TROZOMBIE is right. We should just bury the hatchet.
People, please thumb up this comment to the top. Now there's some childish "fuck lil wayne" comments on top that have nothing to do with the band musically nor ideologically.
In what way is somebody a "tree hugger" if they care about the state of the environment; they don't worship it, they realize that what we have done is causing its destruction.
It's a simple recognizable symbol of the most popular religion. It's offensive and it gets people talking/thinking. The symbol is not out of malice towards, or contempt for followers of the referenced religion.
Sum Blinker ... As Greg Graffin has said in an interwiev, they were 15 years of age, at the time they came up with it, and was just looking for a way to piss off their parents...
@LoganMahrVTV was Reading Comprehension a problem with you in High School? If you read my comment carefully, you'll see i'm not talking about the band bad religion, i'm talking about the people in the band-wagon that talks shit about Lil, Wayne. Everyone knows Lil Wayne sucks. I don't need to hear it 1000 times online everyday.
dude tree hugging shouldn't be mentioned with greg's name , not even close , he's more of a humanitarian , don't confuse ppl , dude your way too late with the 411. peace.
There's no shame in preserving trees, but like everything else, it has to be a political issue we want our lazy government to take care of. Our place in the cosmos is too witness the progress of humankind, but some people want to make a quick buck on the things we're supposed to have and make attractive to the thing we don't even need! Why is it that everyone has to blow everything out of proportion and make a big deal out of a little thing such as trees?
Brilliantly clear sound, excellent lyrics, from the best album in the world ever!
Amazing song and lyrics! Shaped my teenage years. I even used a quote of Bad Religion lyrics in my PhD thesis (environmental biology).
Amazing how?
@@Vicus_of_Utrecht I reckon through personal meaning and by giving direction.
@@Vicus_of_Utrechtamazing as in great melody, the energy, perfect guitar ‘solo’s’, lyrics that are pretty unique etc.
My introduction to the band. Never looked back since. They are the best of the best.
I bet that guitar solo in the intro kicked you on your ass.

Thta guitar intro hurts so much after all these years for some reason.
That is true... But I'd take that a step further and say there isn't an artist in history that could compare with the intelligence in Greg's lyrics in general
@hamnose Well, that IS kinda what he is.
@josh71111 Check out old RA (Rise Against), it has the true passion that these guys have.

Im pretty sure biology was one of the subjects he used to teach at Cal Berkeley. Dude knows stuff. He's no punk dummy.

Bad Religion saved my life
I love you. And that is all you need to know. It hurts really bad, but I will be right by you until the end. I love you.

This song pretty much sums up how i think of us humans.
Thank you
the hedonistic utilitarist man, the highest stage of human evolution!! fuck yeah!
And so up it's own ass it's not even funny.
@TheLiamwinters Well yes, there could be. I personally don't think so. I understand what you're saying and I'm fine with people who belive in god aslong as they do not force their belifes on other people, and A5TROZOMBIE is right. We should just bury the hatchet.

@TheDanDickson Yeah sorry about that, it was kind of vague haha.
almost did not find this song ...
Why do you hate trees may I ask?
So having concern about how much we humans destroy the earth, (that we live on by the way) means that they're not ''Hardcore''?
I know...
Man I do hate breathing!
Join the club of no beliefs, living in the moment.
Evolutionary betrayer. Lmao, as if that would matter lol.
sorry that they a smart and caring
What does Fat Mike think about this?
In what way is somebody a "tree hugger" if they care about the state of the environment; they don't worship it, they realize that what we have done is causing its destruction.
Sure, kid.
Only bad religion .
"Pathetic Example of Earth's Organic Heritage"
you know you need trees to breathe, right?
But there all.gullibal
its a matter of prescience... just the songwriting kind
amen GOP?
What is myoma ?
A cancerous tumor
With or without cancer, a myoma is a tumor
Such a good song and it's all true
Then commit and quit. Bet you're still sucking oxygen to this day.
God you fucking hypocrites.
Neved understood the logo. Why the christian symbol? They could choose anything else...

Propaganda infeliz, quem gosta de música desse tipo detesta esse lixo de propaganda.
I do believe the lyrics are "modern man: destroyers of the chain". Not "destroy yourself in shame".
nope
Jared Gottfried It fits but no
Jared Gottfried no hes talking about the technology and knowledge that we have and disgraceful way we've used it to wage war and pillage earth.
I dunno. Pretty sure the uploader had it right. I hope. Otherwise I've been quoting something wrong for 20 years.
It is indeed "destroy yourself in shame"
Never trust a hippie.
Even though he has right, to me it doesnt sound like his neurons are functioning smoothly.

Yes a LITTLE thing that lets us breath
Zak Kaufman plants produce the air we breath and animals eat these plants and themselves which we all eat
No trees and we won't be able to breath you fucking dolt.
You really have no idea what trees are do you. We are nothing. Humans are not as important as we believe.
Lol fucking misanthropic lyrics.
