Though the starting procedure is the same but this 407 is nothing like the 407s I know. They all had actual instruments and gauges . Operated the original 407, MSN 53000 !
Becouse that way your relight hand is in the cyclick ( you can’t take it off from it unles you have autopilot) and the left hand on the collective, that way if you need to change anything in flight you only lift the left hand from the colective and do whatever you want, but in helicopters like the enstroms you can fly from the left seat, also the md500 and 530
Back when I flew helicopters I preferred the right seat for the same reasons juan fer Ruiz stated, but I preferred the left seat for external load ops. Easier for me to have the collective under me while looking out the left door down a the load vs having the collective to my left as I look out the right door and down at the load.
The reason is the way the aircraft is set up. Nothing to do with preference…. MD helicopters are left hand seat command and Robinson, bell and some others are right hand seat command. It’s the way the machine handles and how it is setup.
One reason is to use the pilots weight to counter the tilt/roll created when using a moment to counter a torque with the tail rotor mounted lower than the main rotor (creating a couple). Most noticeable in the hover, counter clockwise turning (when viewed from above) rotor systems will naturally tilt/roll to the left and clockwise to the right.
Excellent! I really enjoyed this video. I would love to see more Bell 407 videos.
Damn that was cool looks pretty simple I love the 407
Awesome start up.

yeah and I was riding horses before you were driving these silly cars!
Nice!
Loving this!
407 diesel star up
Quieter than I had assumed
To easy, but too cool. Let’s simplify further. Install a Toyota ignition system. 🤗
Why do Heli Pilots prefer flying from the Right seat?

Right Handed Bias!
Just kidding. The answers are above. 🙂
