You must be aware of trending comments on latest Ladakh LAC adjustments. Many of us do feel China is getting away , stopping handicapped India from patrolling it's own areas. And villagers from grazing Cattle as hitherto.

Great Work again !! I wonder how many other scribes we have indenpendent from the coloured spectrum of govt and only carries the flavor of testing times for India. Just as Indian Army is a political, it is only fitting that we have you with such objective assessment on indian security and geo political connundrum of South Asia.
Question for you sir - Air Chief sounded hesitant in joining national air defence platform, may be Air force is not completely ready to reliquish sole authority of air defence, or not ready to share it with Army. My question is - By these concerns Air force can only push the final outcome for few years. What is the reason for this hesitation of IAF and what benefit a unified air defence command will bring to Indian security?

Hopefully the National Security Council Secratariat would soon come out with a National Security Strategy for the next 10 years, subject to review every 5 yrs & from that National Security Strategy would flow the National Security Reforms including both Armed Forces Reforms as well Internal Security Reforms, specially related to CAPFs & Border Forces. It should also clearly define Comprehensive National Power which doesn't only include Military Power but also Economic & Diplomatic Strength of a country.
IMO, Internal Security Reforms need to differentiate between 3 Border forces- BSF, ITBP, SSB & other CAPFs. Border Forces should be the ones being defined as Paramilitary Forces (since that's what UN rules require- Paramilitary to guard borders). Other CAPFs can be called Central Armed Police Force only.
Secondly, there's a need to implement- '1 Border, 1 Border Force' (Pakistan Border- BSF, China/Tibet, Nepal & Bhutan border- ITBP & Bangladesh & Myanmar Border- SSB). All 3 Border Forces to be strictly prohibited from being deployed for internal duty like Counter Insurgency, Elections, Anti-Riot etc. For those roles train CRPF & State/UT Police Units. Focus on recruiting more locals from Border states into these 3 Border Forces.
Lastly, 3 Border Force's operational control should come under Ministry of Defence/under Army while MHA can retain Administrative control. This would make them Paramilitary in the truest sense. Operational Control would lead to better synergy & coordination between Army & Border Forces on ground level, specially while dealing with Chinese. Like BSF, a certain size of Force from ITBP & SSB should also be trained as special combat wings capable of undertaking light offensive operations in coordination with Army if reqd. Though majority would still continue with their primary role of Policing/Patrolling borders but since they would be operationally under Army, they can be better trained to help in providing additional layer of defence on frontline from enemy attacks.
The Secratariat can be entrusted with implementing the strategy over a set duration.

I hope that NSA chief Ajit Doval has organized necessary clandestine counter measures against Chinese incursions in India’s northern Himalayan & Eastern region by doing similar activities in Tibet with the brave Tibet resistance groups.
It is about time that India supported the Dalai Lama to return to his country that China raped & is now occupying so he can retake his rightful place as the spiritual & temporal leader of erstwhile Tibet.
Similarity in Sinkiang & Outer Mongolia where their struggle for identity & freedom from China must be & should be supported by India surreptitiously as a countermeasure to get Chinese pressure off India’s Northern border & go back to China’s original southern border in the 1950’s when I was in high school in India.
China’s belligerent expansion in the South China Seas, South East Asia & the Himalayan border must be stopped by India with collaboration with primarily the USA & Taiwan as equalizing factors.
A Goan Indian-American who feels the US needs the 1.2 billion people of India to counteract China & India needs close collaboration with the USA Armed Forces to assist the Indian Armed Forces in the inevitable event of an inevitable conflict with China

Had recently been to the eastern part of our country....was aghast at the ease at which the Bangladeshis were/ are trooping in and out... with and most importantly without documents.
NIA suggests maximum sleeper cells in these region...but what's BEEN DONE to negate it...if the proof of the pudding lies in eating it...then nothing has been done... hard-core GROUND REALITY.
Agreed the enemy is weakened..thanks to huge efforts on our part...but the resulting and on going subversive tactics/ strategies are in full throttle...we have a thousand reasons and treasons to be alarmed.
Time /High time to be effective than efficient.
In all probability ...the philosophy beyond borders management is based on Shakespeare's dictum...What's there in a Border🤫

It is a confusing architecture.. the domains are overlapping.. for example it’s difficult to identify under whom military cyber capabilities for attacking other countries will fall in if there’s one..
who is taking care of controlling Muslim population which itself is a national security threat .. ?
who is taking care of PFI ..?
After all this, the majority population is subjected to persecution and targeted killings..
China crossed entire Tibet and snatched our territory in Galwan and pushed a nuclear power ( if we are one ) back without firing a shot and our troops slept in Delhi ? I mean call it anything but national security..

I think this National Security architecture described by you-Nitin Gokhale is too bloated. Too much bureaucracy- just too many layers. Now coming to Defence Minister- Rajnath Sing is political appointee. He is not doing effective/competent job as Defence Minister. He may be very loyal, senior and good party man but he is not competent DM. To keep CDS position open for almost one year is unacceptable. And if you do not think CDS is working out then show guts to admit mistake and abolish it. Also there are many things a DM can do in the area of Defence Production in all areas and nothing is being done. Other person i want to talk about is Doval. He is exceeding his brief. Commenting on and getting involved in defence and foreign affairs and may be not paying enough attention to National Security which is really his job. Two targeted killings in J & K , one in Rajasthan, one in Maharashtra- What is Doval doing ? Add to that activities of PFI-What happened in Bihar recently. Doval's proximity to Modi is giving him all this latitude. Modi needs to look into what his people are actually doing.
