this film is inspiring me to get off my rear end and get my Cardin AMX on the road soon! I wish they had a black one in this film......thanks so much for posting!!
I'm still amazed that there weren't more people buying AMC products back in the day. I think they would have been considered a good value by more people if AMC had managed to solve the problem of SOME of their 6-cylinder engines not running properly in wet weather. My '72 Hornet with the 258 never skipped a beat but my dad's Hornet wouldn't run properly if you spit on the pavement. So sad.
@RuckerCaptain7z Glad you like it! The '73 Javelins are not very different from the '74s. By this time, the muscle car era was dying, and AMC felt that the Javelin had run its course.
the auto trans is just basicaly a Chrysler Torqueflite with an AMC bolt patteren, so parts for it are easy to find and they are pretty bulletproof. I've got a 73 AMX w/ the 304 i got 12 years ago for $550. it used to be my daily driver. i'm fixing it back up now after it sat for awhile. there's a guy not far from me selling a 71 Javelin (304) and a 72 Javelin (360) for $1200 for the pair. little rough but not bad. wish i had the room for them.
Todd, I feel your pain. I've bought about a hundred films over the years on ebay. It's expensive. I've been restoring the film and then transfering to an electronic format. It's quite expensive. Myself, I do it as a hobby not to make a profit. You're request of 20 people at 30 bucks a piece is fair. Most people don't know that it costs a fee per feet of film. 600 is reasonable, but I don't know if it's possible, getting 20. It's like herding cats. lol
Maybe start a Kickstarter thing and I will try spreading the word to the AMC Forums. That could help raise the funds needed to restore, digitize and distribute the entire film to contributors and collectors.
Sooooo close! If it's any consolation to you, the '74 Javelins aren't all that different from the '73s. By this time, AMC had pretty much given up on the Javelin, and the OPEC oil embargo was happening, so AMC was no longer very interested in pony cars or muscle cars.
Thanks for understanding, Osborn. I'd love to share this stuff, but by shifting the burden of getting the film to the people who profess to want it, I'm really testing their resolve. Some people rise to the occasion, admirably so. Others...well, you learn pretty quickly how serious they are. It's always an interesting and revealing exercise.
Sorry. The whole film is not available right now. If I received enough interest from Javelin fans, I might be convinced to make it available. But so far, you're the only one who has asked, DiskoKat.
@MrMaverickkid70 The original 16mm film cost me about $100 on eBay over 10 years ago. It took about 2 hours to color correct it in a professional telecine suite at $200/hour. That's $500. Add the cost of DVDs, shipping, DVD authoring, and now you're talking some real money. I don't want to go through all the effort for all 5 of you out there who want the 1973 AMC Product Introduction film. So if you REALLY want it, I'm asking you to undertake the effort to make it financially viable for me.
@GoneAutos I don't mean to sound harsh or evil. I'm not. It's just that I've done projects EXACTLY like this in the past and have felt burned or shortchanged. Conversely, I"ve had uber-fans who have picked up the baton and become the salesmen that I'm asking you to become. They've assembled the orders, the checks, and a mailing list. Then they sent it all to me, and I produced the DVDs and shipped them out. It was a win-win for both of us. Do you want to be that salesman?
I wish some UA-cam users (not you) wouldn't copy this video p, put it up on their own UA-cam channel, and make AdSense money off of my efforts. But they do.
you didn't shoot, edit, write, direct, or produce this video. so I wouldn't complain too loudly. But just out of curiosity, where did you obtain your copy?
It takes a village, DiscoKat. So far, I'm only hearing from one tribesman. Wake up the village. Make them shout so loud that I can't help but hear you all. Then, I'll see what I can do.
i got offered a 74 javelin in damn good shape for 4000$ anyone know if its worth it. ithink its got the 401 in it not sure about the transmission though. ya put up the whole film man. im trying to learn about these cars and no takes the time to talk about the car or anything they just burn out in them all over lol.
@MrMaverickkid70 If you want to assemble a group of 20 people who each pay me $30 for the entire 1973 AMC product introduction film on a DVD, I would release it to you. But sadly, unless someone out there seizes this initiative and organizes the whole thing, these excerpts will have to suffice. (I could tell you why, but I would just end up sounding bitter, and that's not me.)
nostalgia not withstanding ,co. failed cuz the damn cars they made were ugly as sin.... execpt this awesome car i still want one. keep the hornet and gremlins.
Since it's been 12 years now, wanna hand this film over to someone who'll do something with it?

Let's see some more of this!!

I would like to see the whole thing. Thanks for putting this part of it up.
2:58 is almost my car! Almost... mine is a '74 factory 401 Javelin in Maxi Blue... I only wish it was in the same condition as the car in the film!

THAT'S AT LIMEROCK!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
So, how about make it available just for me? As a '73 Javelin owner, I'd LOVE to add this to my collection of AMC media.

Wish the annoying text was not blocking the screen
Where can I find or purchase this entire film?
I wish I could find one of these in NY cheap :/
can you make it available to me too please?

Hello, past me, its you with a new UA-cam channel, its a 71, and after all these years it’ll be done soon!

Is there a Paypal account I can donate to so that I may fund the availability of this film? :o)
