    Great video! Thank you very much. I've noticed from beginners' work, including my own, that a common problem is too much contrast in details and ignoring the overall light and shade. It would be great if you could make a video about how to avoid that before you start, about planning the work and how not to go into detail.

      The full course seems to be still unreleased. It looks like only the fundamentals portion has been released over a relatively long period of time. Maybe a bit questionable to pay 200$ in advance and wait for months for the lessons to show up.

    • @eonstar
      @eonstar 2 роки тому +1

      @@Minsetti if anything, I think waiting could help you pace yourself and make more meaningful progress in each topic

    • @Minsetti
      @Minsetti 2 роки тому

      @@eonstar Yeah sure but I don't know if it's reasonable to ask for a hefty amount for an unfinished course which seems to be progressing at a snail's pace because there are a lot of people who like to go through the online material fast and then digest it by doing the exercises and returning to source material when needed. I mean that's the advantage of online courses, right? The ability to revisit the lessons whenever you like.

    Amazing tips!. I good really really good way to start a painting is to get all your shadow shapes first including the accent shadows or Ambient occulsion. Have your shadow values be as accurate as possible. This will help you determine what the mid tone and light should be.

    One mistake I continue to make with value studies is that I initially start with two values that don't have extreme contrast. Then my eyes get used to the range established by those initial values and adding higher/lower value makes it pop out too much. But if I don't look at it for a while or someone else looks at it, it's apparent that the contrast just isn't there.

      I use Huion personally.
      I had a wacom intuos 5, and while that was good at the time, im digging the huion.
      And they ARE on the cheaper end. Id say they rival with wacoms, but only a fraction of the price.

    • @mildarkaa

      I’ve only had a couple tablets over the years but it can depend on whether you want to draw directly onto a screen (like drawing on paper) or drawing onto a tablet and looking at a computer screen to see what you are actually drawing. For the latter I used to use a Wacom intuos and it held up really well and was really easy to use! I don’t know much about screen tablets (since the one I had broke and now works like my old wacom) but I know the colours can appear differently on the tablet screen than on the computer. Idk if this helps at all but this was my experience with both types.

      Get the ones you can afford (02).
      You don't need a high end/big one. Just something small enough (notebook sized) with tilt function and buttons(useful for mapping keyboard shortcuts). I use XP Pen Deco mini 7. Works great. Got in during a sale.

    I think this tutorial is rather confusing. On the first drawing it seems as if he is treating the face as the most important part of the drawing. However this makes no sense considering this is a study and not an actual piece that tries to convey emotions,have character etc. Its simply practising your skills. The right way to treat studies like this one is to consider everything of equal importance. You go in the trouble of correcting the small light shape on the corner of his face which is a small detail but completely ignore the bad value comparisson that exists everywhere. The face seems as light as the collar even though it isnt, the feather is too dark,the light shape on the hat and his attire on the left are too dark the backround needs to be a little darker and you can tell by taking a glimpse. If you feel like it helps you to generalise the tones at the beginning of your drawing its a completely valid way of approach and i use it as well. However you overgeneralize on some parts and leave it at that as if it doesnt require any more detail in relation to the rest of the drawing. If you want to have general values in contrast to a more detailed approach that is still fine but you have to keep it that way throughout the whole drawing and not oversimplify on some parts and detail on others.To be honest the original drawing seems more spot on the value.
