FreedomPop is a wireless Internet and mobile virtual network operator based in Los Angeles, California. The company provides "free" IP mobile services including free data, text and VoIP and sells mobile phones, tablets and broadband devices for use with their service. It was founded by CEO Stephen Stokols and Steven Sesar. FreedomPop uses networks of Sprint and AT&T in the United States, Three in the UK, Yoigo in Spain, and Telcel in Mexico.
FreedomPop was co-founded by Stephen Stokols, CEO and Steven Sesar in 2011.[11] Prior to founding FreedomPop, Stokols served as CEO of Woo Media, a video-chat and entertainment startup.[2] FreedomPop partnered with LightSquared in December 2011, but ended its partnership after LightSquared did not receive Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approval to build out its network.[12] FreedomPop began selling 4G only hotspots in October 2012.[13] The company began offering mobile and wireless internet services in the United States using Clearwire's 4G network.[14][15][16] FreedomPop converted 20% of its free user base to paid users in December 2012.[17]
In July 2012, FreedomPop raised $7.5 million in a first round of funding led by Mangrove Capital and Doll Capital Management.[18] In April 2013, FreedomPop partnered with Sprint to expand its coverage to include 3G and 4G with Sprint compatible devices.[19] The company raised an additional $4.3 million in a Series A1 financing from Mangrove Capital and Doll Capital Management in July 2013.[20] In October 2013, one year from its initial wireless broadband launch, FreedomPop launched its beta free mobile phone plan that included voice, text, and data service.[21] In November FreedomPop launched a bring your own device for Sprint-compatible phones.[22]
FreedomPop began supporting and selling Sprint-compatible iPhones in April 2014.[23][24] The company also released an iOS app that offers voice, text and voicemail service to users within the United States.[23][24] A month later, in May 2014, FreedomPop began supporting LTE Android smartphones.[25] In July the company announced it would soon be offering SIM card-based plans in Belgium in partnership with Dutch carrier KPN.[26] FreedomPop does not sell mobile devices outside of the United States.[26] In July 2014, FreedomPop began offering its free 4G data, voice and text plans to tablet users, starting with the iPad Mini and the Samsung Tab 3. The free data, voice and text plan is offered to those purchasing a tablet through FreedomPop or other eligible bring your own device Sprint devices.[27][28] In October 2014, FreedomPop announced its own branded-line of low-cost smartphones and tablets. Tip for people looking for cheap unlimited wifi: Add a second phone line with your mobile carrier(I paid 20$ to add a line with T-mobile). Activate sims card with tablet or phone( your original phone will work also). Buy a router with not only a sims card slot but also an option to set connection as streaming rather than mobile hotspot(Mifi 4500 router works great). Just like that, Unlimited 4g LTE that doesnt run out because it uses straight cellular data instead of a mobile hotspot.
True. Because none of these Hotspots they advertise works and when you click on the link to the device 90 percent of the time they don't carry it anymore.
What if I wanted to do this overseas how does this work?
Well.. Unfortunate mobile data gets throttle down after x data usage. That throttle = a dead still connected mobile data. That is the trick. Its unlimited data but throttle to slower than a snail.
Is that for real?
I suspect freedom pop is no longer in the hotspot business, their site only lists sim cards. I’m guessing freedom pop get batches of overstock from providers given that there are a number of UA-cam reviews featuring different hotspot hardware.

Here's a novel idea, before you review something, actually use it and have as much info as you can to help us know the pros and cons. You can always record the unboxing and setup, pause the video and explore the item and when you have info worth passing on, restart the video and explain what you found out. You might as well just shown the box and unboxing and told us to research it ourselves. At least you should have had info on the plans available and the costs for them... I would not consider this a review which is what it looked like you intended.

I would think it would work. You'd need to keep the hotspot near the Blink module though since the wifi range is much smaller than a typical router.

I left Verizon after 30 years. Now on TMobile because I get two SIMs with unlimited data each 4glte, and separate phone numbers for one combined total of $60, no additional fees. I use one in a large battery phone as a hotspot and to stream to TV.
Scott that is my exact situation with Verizon. At a glance this is great Value . Question (s) can you transfer your number(s) I love the two Sim cards with to separate numbers
2nd ask : I'm in the ciy of Houston What download and upload speeds can one expect and at what Data amount does the service slow / throttle your service? Can you watch media in 1080P. Such as you Tube TV EVER? Or is the service governed at 480 P.
Lastly your post was a year ago has the service been seemless and are you still with Visable ? When time permits please advise. Thanks in advance..

There is no such thing as free. You login at school might be free. But heck, its still an expense from the tax payer who paid and provided the services to the public school. Or if you are private, your tuition paid for it.

So it looked like in 2 minutes he used 7.5Mb. That's like maybe two hours for the entire month with the free 500mb monthly plan and It was a still photo on the device, not a video running.
Same type of data usage with STRAIGHT TALK hotspot. They say you get 10 gigs. I blow through that in 2 four hour sittings, or less. BEWARE!!!!
Exactly. If you use a laptop to access through this, it eats up the data faster. Your cellphone download at mobile size packets while laptop download at full size for the same webpage. Also, I don't think there is unlimited to anything. Its throttle down once u pass the threshold. You are more safe for true data through a hotspot, if they offer it.
