Hi vapora, do you have a guide on trading patterns for adc? One thing I think I struggle with is knowing when to trade, how long the trade should be and how to alternate between farming/trading in lane. I guess this isn’t something that can be easily taught, but if you have any tips I’ll appreciate it. Thanks.
I've only got to emerald rank but here are some things I've begun to notice about trading. If you know you are about to get hit by enemy poke, try to make it a trade. I play ashe and if an enemy senna wants to just walk up, poke and auto me, I make sure she gets W from me and 2 auto attacks with my Q reset. It's even better if your support knows she's about to try and poke so let your support know that's what you're looking for. I also try to avoid too much minion aggro so I only trade 1-2 autos, and if I can't kill them I back off behind my minions to avoid taking too much damage from theirs. As for when to farm and when to trade. If you have a good health lead, you can wall them off CS and don't have to force a fight or trades. You're right, most of that will come with experience and knowing how much damage you will take within the trade and knowing if it will be worth taking. You can also watch VODs and vapors videos and watch how long he trades and process why he took the trade and who benefited from the trade.
It's not a matchup you punish, it's a matchup you survive. The only time he's vulnerable to poke as a melee champ is level 1, after he has E any time you're in auto range you're also in range to be dashed onto by him. On the other hand, Yasuo's scaling falls off a cliff compared to ADCs, rewarding you for just getting through the lane with minimal deaths. The best ADCs to pick are mobile ones who aren't able to be so easily caught out by him, and who can most effectively kite him.
