This is my second comment about this show. It was great . They did storylines about things and issues that were occurring and before they happened. I watch it most nights on the h& I channel.
I agree with the comment below. The District was a great series and should have stayed on longer. Great story lines and great characters. They were on in a very difficult time slot. Saturday at 10;00 pm.
I'm so happy to find this show here, it comes on H&I but at 4am est, I doze trying to watch it. It is so heartfelt and it shows good ole police work before social media exploded...
Same here. We also have the H & I network as well. At night when I can't sleep well. Health issues are pretty bad. H & I shows are great.👍 At midnight, not in the "great" category, Baywatch. It's eh, or okay I suppose, but not great. At 1am House M.D. comes on and runs til 3am. Then The District comes on a 3am and runs until 5am. Then James Garner's Maverick comes on. I've been watching older shows and movies. The whole "retro" craze. Because I was very disillusioned, disappointed, and just didn't like the new shows/programming. Either they were re-booting, re-making, or doing prequels, sequels, instilling agendas, and ?? I love shows like M*A*S*H, CSI- Crime Scene Investigation, Barney Miller, and even older corny shows like Dragnet, Get Smart, and ugh I can't remember the name of it. It's also on H&I. One of their Heroes in the mornings. It's a series with Clint Eastwood series. The Chaparral? Not sure. Sorry, but my point is I've lost interest in the newest programs ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, CW, etc have shown. Again some are okay, some are eh, and some are pfft! But none are really exceptional, and many of the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's shows ARE EXCEPTIONAL! This show definitely falls into that category. And you are SO RIGHT. Social Media has demolished life on this planet and had destroyed careers, lives, jobs, and families! Criminals now have more rights than victims it seems. Also Craig T. Nelson is a absolutely fantastic actor! He is in one of the newer shows I do like. He is Mee-Maw's boyfriend in Young Sheldon. Still as funny as can be like he was in Coach. He is AWESOME!
Our family enjoyed watching "Law & Order" & "The District" Television Miniseries. I wished that "The District" Miniseries would've stayed on the air longer. Needed to cover more highly controversial situations dealing with Law Enforcement in the Nation's Capital. For example, the police officers being victimized by identity theft & the terrorism of the"Engame". Maybe, there will be another Miniseries that will go into the depths of Law Enforcement.
Depending on the TV show, you can find some realism. I thought _The Closer_ showed police corruption realistically (though the interrogations were more aspirational than realistic), and people always recommend _The Wire_ to me as a realistic depiction of police work.
This show was based on NYPD Deputy Commissioner Jack Maple, a former transit cop who decided to do actual police work in the 1980s. ua-cam.com/video/9tcfh5Ru_mo/v-deo.html

Great show. Love the Chief! But their views on the issues come from the too far left and not enough center for me. Sorry. But they represent ALL PEOPLE!

I love this show. He's a chief of police with a heart.
