I grew up above the tunnel. It actually went under a corner of our house at 393 Wilson Street. I also sat on the slope on the #70 side and with a V8 camera videoed the last piece of the trusel being cut and falling into the river. Great history which I knew about. It was NEVER haunted .
Do you still have the video? I’ve been looking for years for the video, I know at one point I saw a video of the viaduct being torn down, but I lost it.
hi neighbor you're right i never heard any rumors about it being haunted. at most i heard stories on the homeless living in there during winter and lots of drugs but that's all
My wife grew up in Lancaster, MA and lived on Grove St in Clinton for a time. We lived for many years in Leominster. Neither of us knew the story of this tunnel. Thanks for the info! I subscribed to your channel since you seem to focus on New England.
I was lucky that I moved into the area just before they started to remove the trestle. Also I have seen an 8mm movie made by an employee of the Boston and Maine Railroad from the cab of the steam engine that pulled a passenger train from Clinton across the trestle and through the tunnel as it headed toward Boston on the Central Mass line. Only wish I had been in the area to have ridden the train when it made that trip. Thanks for posting
Cool video. My grandparents used to live in Clinton and I used to hang out around that reservoir a lot, so I'm familiar with the area. I've never been to that tunnel though. Thanks for sharing - and nice drone work.
I grew up in Shrewsbury....my Dad would always take us here for walks after Thanksgiving dinner....we called it "Cave of the Dead" I have even taken my kids here
Just seeing this video now Jay but it’s probably one of my favorites that you’ve done! You made me giggle at 1:35-1:46 😂 Awesome video- amazing footage and love all the information and history you include with it!
I figured you two would be engaged by the time you got to the other end. For Christmas this year my daughter who lives in Keene gave me the two volume set of “Iron Roads of the Monadnock Region”. Fantastic rail history of the this area o Mass, NH and VT.
When I went here, i made it to the end of the tunnel, and climbed up the rocks and walked above the tunnel and found myself going through a bunch of backyards lol.
@@JasonAllard My son and I hiked out to those the last 4 years! Very remote but there are cabins up there if you're looking for a cheap place to stay. Google them, they're out in the middle of no where, 70 miles from the closest town on logging roads!
I grew up in the neighboring town, and this tunnel was a popular spot for teenagers to go hang out. It also had a number of myths of being “haunted”. There was a body found in the tunnel once. According to my dad, his friend’s ex-girlfriend’s body was found in the tunnel. I believe it was deemed an unsolved murder case. Oddly enough though, I can’t find any information on this. This would have taken place in the late 80s or early 90s. I would be curious if anyone else had information regarding that...
If any of you are aware of "the impossible architecture" movement on youtube, you'll learn that this entire narrative is more than likely suspect. I would advise looking into it.
some parts of your dialogue are difficult to hear. it seemed difficult to understand what you're saying. normalize the audio maybe? excellent content though 👍

I would Caution there is broken shards of glass . If you have a pet dog it’s possible the paws could get cut

I grew up in Clinton. Many many parties there. great town with an insane amount of history.
Very well produced, as well as informative. You've earned a new subscriber in me (and deserve many more!)
Fantastic video, Jason! I've driven by this countless times without realizing it was even there. Thanks for the education!

Lmao this is so funny to see on UA-cam when you drive by it every day
I’ve biked up that hill so many times but never looked to the left to notice that tunnel!
Great story telling once again Jason. Loved the animations too!
Thanks Matt! Your video was actually part of my research on this

That's a super cool place... I wonder if a bully named Jennifa used to live in there...
I figured you two would be engaged by the time you got to the other end.

Felt like I was with you problem is I’m a little claustrophobic excellently done

Awesome. I live in this town but have never gone through the tunnel. 👍🏻
My son and I went through the tunnel a few years ago. Great video! Have you checked out the abandoned trains up in the Allagash of Maine?
Haven't checked them out but just added them to my growing list - thanks for the heads up

Cool video love exploring abandoned spots like that!
Nice to see you do your research about the areas you show... have you ever been to Hanton City (I believe) in Smithfield RI?
Great informative and excellently edited video..
Awesome vid! Thanks for sharing!!
Cool! Gonna check it out...

Have you heard of the Hoosac tunnel in North Adams/Florida Massachusetts that is also supposedly haunted?
That was good I live in that town and I"ve never seen it although my daughter has mentioned it from time to time.
It’s worth a visit in the summer 👍🏼
Great video
Sweet!
I keep seeing the tag "Xpills" .. in this and one other completely different location
I been there it was really cool
Technically it’s owned my the MBTA
Looks more like the Winston Tunnel up in Galena, Illinois.
ANSWER TO THE QUESTION: It was abandoned because trains stopped using it...
I oready lived on clinton ma and i never seen this train tunnel
I'm game; I believe that I am going to be a subscriber.
Subscribed.
I watched the 1st part until the Walmart ad, I puked, Walmart sucks
I wonder if there's anything like that in Michigan ❓❓❓😀😃😄
Any clue if its still open or any entrance cuz if it is Imma go while I still can?
This spot is open to the public - if you Google it the address will show up.
Is there a wall in the world that doesn't have spray paint graffiti?
some parts of your dialogue are difficult to hear. it seemed difficult to understand what you're saying. normalize the audio maybe? excellent content though 👍
i smoke weed here
Never appreciated nor saw the point of painted graffiti non art.... vandalism is not attractive.
DONT GO THERE NOW!! SOMEONE BOUGHT THE TUNNEL AND WE GOT IN TROUBLE WITH THE LAW. SAVE YOURSELF THE TRIP AND DO NOT GO EXPLORING THERE.
