Films like these are a huge cliche, usually. This one breaks nearly all conventions and has one of my very favorite heroines. It's such a joy to watch two kind people smile with delight in each other for two hours.

In some movies the patient always distances themselves away from people because they know their time is coming and doesn’t think twice about falling in love. The fact that Yuji gave Ninon a chance and gave life a chance as well is beautiful. The fact that he lived another day is beautiful and the fact that these two lovebirds got a happy ending is beautiful
It's like the U.S. movie "A Walk to Remember" starring Mandy Moore. The protagonist is sick & dying & gives a love a chance because they'll never know. But what a way to go to. Making your dreams come true one by one including finding true love.

Ok, I cried a bit too much from this. It's like watching my parents story. My father had a heart condition and didn't have long to live, his parents had already passed before he met my mom. My grandparents, my mom's parents, were against them being together. My grandma told my mom that it isn't right to be with a man that is sick because he would die early and leave her alone. My mom and dad still ended up getting married and had me. My dad however never got the surgery because they told him he had a 10% chance of survival, and he decided he wanted to live as long as he could and not risk dying earlier because of surgery. Needless to say, my dad passed when I was 7, and I miss him every single day, but I also admire my mom not letting her fear of him leaving us early stop her from being with someone she loved.

My cousin dated someone with a heart condition in high school. They did not get married tho. He had many surgeries but died in his early 20s. My cousin did end up having a kid with him tho.

First Japanese love story I've watched that the bullied girl wasn't killed or killed the bullies. Most Japanese love stories or just without love are so górę that i didnt even know i could find a non górę love story. But anyways, love this!

I like how these movies don't revolve around high school students having sex and drinking at least the recaps don't show that. Hollywood has too much of that.

This kind of reminds me of Kira-kun Today, the manga. It's pretty much about a popular boy falling for a cute outcast girl with a bird complex as she always has her pet bird with her. The girl finds out Kira's secret, that he has an illness and he will die young. So the girl vows to make Kira happy until his last breath.

Even though Kira is alive at the end, I still cried soooo much because of Ninon feeling how everyone is leaving her, something that happens to a lot of people after graduating from highschool aaaand I cried SO MUCH when the bird died at the end to top it all, but still left her a message to give her strength 😭😭😭😭 And seeing Ninon starting to think about her own future was something so precious, this manga really makes you be grateful to the things that you accomplish during life.
