for me, sneakers doesn't even sound bad, but many people feel like they getting pranked by the concept teaser, the way everyone hope it's a bside track back then 😢😅
personally, im on the fence about sneakers now in 2024. maybe just wrong year release and wrong timing especially after loco. since the concept fits fifth gen summer more (like with bolder, more free concepts) i feel like if it was released now it would - probably - get praise. (maybe without the royal concept, and a different mv) the bright colors for the photos were perfect, however the stage outfits and stage design was sometimes executed and shown of poorly. if sneakers had a different beat and maybe a bolder sound and better bright tone i feel like it could’ve worked. but the only problem is that this song is definitely missing THE itzy flavor. compared to icy, wannabe, dalla dalla, and loco, they have a certain sound and if they applied it to sneakers instead of jyp changing itzy concept and doing something completely new it would be better and more refreshed. the song is great by itself but if they stuck to the colorful instagram concept photos and had outfits and the mv look like the album cover it could’ve worked so well. :(
I still stand for itzy I will never forget my love about itzy I love them no matter what happens to them I will always be on their side… you know I posted a video on TikTok and on the video it said ( this is a message to all the hater’s out there if you don’t like what I’m doing but you still watch what I’m doing you’re still a fan!!) 😅
Itzy's best release imho has been Ringo.. JYPE is generally a crappy company and doesn't manage them well.. I also feel like Yeji needs vocal lessons, she usually just yells her lines whether it is rap or singing. And Ryujin has to work on her rap delivery and switch it up from time to time too. SM, for instance, doesn't just ignore their rappers, it makes sure they are versatile and growing vocally during their careers. JYPE focuses too much on dance and not enough on singing, and it is VERY apparent with Itzy.
i think to some extent they all do, honestly; the only song of itzy's I have been able to handle has been mafia in the morning because all I seem to hear with most of their other releases is pure screaming from most of the members besides lia and chaeryeong.
Im curious and havent heard any of their song. Im here just passing by. In my humble opinion they are all pretty and talented but I cant sense or see each of their unique character when they perform. They seems to me they have the same face a copy of each to better explain....if they are a bouquet they are all carnations .It is much better if it has different kinds of flowers. My favorite example is 2ne1 even if they are sitting they are already giving off the "I am the queen or the star vibe" and you can see each others uniqueness that when they are performing they contributed a different charm. Sorry 2ne1 is my standard of kpop. I am still searching for that fire and i havent seen it yet till this generation. Anyway goodluck to them and I hope they find the missing ingredient.
Your take on "Boys like you" is really subjective and your reasoning isn't great. The song doesn't just sound like a song Taylor Swift would release, it is a song she released. Boys Like You samples Love Story. And with the latter being of better quality it's understandable people didn't like Itzy's single and prefer listening to Taylor's. Even if another group would've released it, it propabl wouldn't have been liked by many. (wich is so a wierd thing to say "if another group..." like stop, another group didn't release it for a reason) It's also really stupid how people say that Itzy are declining because of "hate", but every group gets hate (for example: blackpink, bts, Stray Kids, etc.) yet they still are succesfull. Why? Because music trully matters, people can hate you, but if the music is good, most will tune in. If the quality is bad, you simply loose your audience.
A perfect summary. I can agree with the whole analysis and all of the presented viewpoints! 👍
