That's a known, actual phenomenon in psychology. It's called the Gell-man amnesia effect. Michael Crichton described it as "You open the newspaper to an article on some subject you know well. [...] you read with exasperation or amusement the multiple errors in a story, and then turn the page to national or international affairs, and read as if the rest of the newspaper was somehow more accurate about Palestine than the baloney you just read. You turn the page, and forget what you know."
Yes. It's been a known thing long enough that somebody was commenting about it when newspapers were peoples' main source of news information.

My dad was a Hospital Corpman assigned to the Marines 3rd Force Recon FMF. When I was little and didn't know any better, I asked him if he ever killed someone. On that particular evening, he had a few and looked at me out of the corner of his eye, then 1000 yards out to somewhere and said, " When you're out in the bush where no Americans are supposed to be you don't take time to walk down range and count bodies. I honestly don't know if I ever killed anyone, but I've lost count of how many people I've shot." Sent a chill down my spine that stayed there for years!

He said he couldn't tell me, he had never watched the movie. It was then I realized, every time a ww2 movie came on television he would quietly leave the room if we wanted to see it. At the same time of my separation, my late wife passed away from heart disease. I became a civilian, single father, and widow all at the same time. I was in some really dark places. And like most of us, I tried to push through by myself. When I found your channel, I connected with your content immediately. I'm currently speaking with a therapist to help me through everything a little bit at a time, and I honestly have you all to thank for that. I was at the Dallas show and had an incredible time! Brandon complimented my shirt in the most Brandon Herrera way possible, and when I told him I build derringers he said "I'm sorry" 😂. I told Donut that my mom is a dispatcher and I loved the jokes about them needing chicken nuggies, which made him feel bad and he apologized 😂 I also made sure to tell Eli how much I appreciated his constant positivity and hard work. Lastly, I had the privilege of telling the Fat Electrician how much I enjoy the history lessons as well as the amazing humor on top of it. It’s cool to see how much they know and love their special interest(s), and although there are some challenges I’ve seen them experience, they are also gifted in other ways.
Also, diagnosis opens a whole world of tools that make life a lot easier from what I’ve seen (not perfect or neurotypical, but still a lot easier) and I’m excited that you may have that world opened up to you as well.

@@JSp4wN Thank you very much, friend. I really appreciate it, both the sub and giving my videos a chance, as well as the well-wishes. Especially the well-wishes given the circumstances.
Wendigoon is really who inspired me to give UA-cam a try, more to broaden my horizons than anything, and also perhaps in the future get some eyes on the novels I'm working on. I started as a fanfiction writer, being fairly well-known in the RWBY community (DMenace on FFN and AO3), and before I move onto other types of videos, I thought it best to get comfortable in front of a mic and the editing process by first narrating some of my favorite creepy pastas.
If nothing else, it's given me a new appreciation for what Wendigoon and the UnSub guys do for a living, and it's given me some MUCH needed experience talking in front of a mic. I'm a writer, not a talker lol. It's also helped me get my mind off things, and that's no small feat.

I started bingeing this podcast because of @thefatelectrician who has brought so much history knowledge into my home, and all of my boys like his videos. But finding you guys has brought a world of understanding to me about my dad that i can't thank you enough for. It's allowed me to forgive him for things i never understood before because he wouldn't talk about his time in Vietnam. I understand why he wouldn't, don't get me wrong. But thanks, so much, for being real and truthful and putting yourself out there over and above the humor. You don't just help the vets out here, you help their families too.

    Hey guys,
In late here but I want to thank all you guys for a few moments of sanity in probably one of the worst weeks of the last four years. Back on the second my brother in law passed and the events of the last week have been nothing but hell between traveling, resolving the necessary, getting shit done, and getting back home in time to work a full week making sure our grocery stores have frozen goods sent to them for folks here in the pa/md/va area.
'Hanging out with the boys' helps get over times like this, and I've been happy to watch or listen to each of you guys for months now, especially today. Definitely supporting with bunker branding and a big supporter of Brandon's campaign. Keep this going, because these stories and takes on current culture are things people need to see and hear in these times. Thanks, y'all.

I have a 2nd hand story about Bud Dwyer for ya.. When I worked graveyard at a convenience store, i had a regular customer that would tell old stories, and this is the one that stuck with me.
As he tells it, he was in middle school watching live with his history class when Bud decided to taste the rainbow.. Before that moment, the teacher thought it would be a good lesson in how politics works.. a few days later he's at school passing out "Bud Dwyer Commemorative Coins", the teacher catches wind of this and asks him for one, to which he places a washer in her hand. As it turns out, and he didn't find out until after being sent to the principal's office, that his history teacher was Bud Dwyer's niece.
