First saw Leahy in Saskatoon in the 90's. my gransdon born in 1998, got to listen to their CD and dance with me to it many times. Once he was old enough - abt a year, he would go to my CD cabinet and pick out Leahy to play. The Call to Dance our faorite. Now in memory of my grandson I lost to the C shot, I play this and hope he is hearing.
Truly A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. I discovered this incredibly musical family years and years ago, but spmehow lost track of them. Revisiting this song and the great memories reminded me to keep following Leahy. Awesome….
We saw this talented family last night in Grass Valley, California, and I have to say it is the BEST performance I've ever seen anywhere. What amazing DNA!
Back in the day we would go visit my Dad in the trailer, and he would play this on Sunday morning after breakfast and you could never see a kid dust so fast. I love you Dad 😊you guys will never understand how much this means to me. I'm literally crying tears of absolute happiness.
I've been blessed to see them twice - in this same year I believe. First in Calgary which looked and sounded exactly like this video and then at the old Klondike Days in Edmonton on the Coca-Cola stage. Agnes coming to to dance first just like the video raised hairs on me. Then with seeing all the girls on stage dancing together brought me right back to the electric Jack Singer Concert Hall in Calgary. Then Donnell and his brothers came out to join the line and the effect was overwhelming!!
I've seen them a first time on television performing at the Dranouter-festival in Belgium a few years back. A year after they came to give a concert at De Spil in Roeselare Belgium. I immediately bought tickets and loved every minute of their great performance. After the concert they sold cd's. Till now those are some of the best in my collection. I love their music !!!!
First time seeing Leahy we were staying overnight in New Brunswick and our B&B host insisted we go to see them - WOWOWOW! What an unexpected pleasure. So, we've seen them three more times in the States. Cannot wait to see Leahy again whenever they hit the road again.
Found this video Sept 3, 2024. I met then at a Celtic Fest here in Ohio years (ages?) ago. I think I had first heard them on a sound track for the movie "Canada From Above". I discovered that I like Eastern Canadian musc. Also in that sound track was another "unheard of" IEastern Canadian group from P.E.I. (Barachois). When Leahy came to Ohio for concert I was one of the first in line, a line of several people. I was also.one of the very filling a seat at the start of their Ohio concerts who had heard of them. A few minutes into their performances history was made and they had MANY followers. When Barachois first came to Ohio the situation REPEATED. So, decades later I ask: did Leahy and Barachois ever play the same festivals? Both made me want to visit Eastern Canada. BACK THEN... Now there is a guy doing auto videos from south central Nova Scotia that is the total opposite of the members of either band. I lost my desire to visit Eastern Canada. SORRY!
You know people, there are sometimes that words are never enough to describe how a man feels when he sees something like this..Where do I begin? Great bonded group? Perfect music? Flawless Dancing? Marvelous voices? Or simply.....W E L L R A I S E D B Y G R E A T P A R E N T S Thank God for groups like this, who do not just play music, they ARE music. It would be very common to say "Nice DVD" and "Nice music"...But I did cry when I saw this dvd..Moved and touched me as if I was there.
Energetnc Inspiring Music that is INCREDIBLE to see LIVE with Spectacular Celtic dancing choreography.... STUNNING! PURE ENTERTAINMENT that must make many Canadians Proud!!!
My dad played the Fiddle he past away in 1962 i can still remember standing on a chair in the living room watching him to bad his talent dident rub off
All my way through school at Lakefield Junior, Red path, or Lakefield High, I watched this family grow, learn and perform together, it brings back many memories
I've been blessed to see them twice - in this same year I believe. First in Calgary which looked and sounded exactly like this video and then at Klondike Days in Edmonton on the Coca-Cola stage. Agnes coming to to dance first just like the video raised hairs on me neck and arms. Then with seeing all the girls on stage dancing together brought me right back to the Jack Singer Concert Hall in Calgary which was filled with electricity at this point. Then Donnell and the boys came down to dance
So good to see The Leahy Family Kids again!!!...but they're no longer kids like I remember so many years ago when I travelled with them in Thunder Bay!!! And even though I've always thought Siobheann is the cutest, the real beauty of the family is their mom...once you meet her you'll see where all that beauty came from!!!...and if I remember correctly, the one thing all of them like as much as music and step-dancing is...SOCCER!!!...truly a bunch of soccer freaks!!!
They are absolutely incredible I had the pleasure of playing a few reels with the man in the red shirt at the Fleath Cheoil Mullingar and his son and daughter played and danced incredibly talented thanks a million guys
Absolutely amazing music, I remember seeing them perform in Nanaimo, BC, they took my breath away, i play them on youtube these days and dance around the house. For those that don't know I remember they were like 13 brothers and sisters from same family.
They started when they were young children. There were only two guitars and one piano and they had to fight and finagle to get time to practice (there were ultimately 11 children.) Later a drum set was added, but it showed up on the day a new baby was born. (Kind of hard to find a time to practice without waking the baby.) Now there are eight of them touring and playing at any given time. Who makes up the 8 depends on who has what other plans.
This is the first time I have heard this group, They are truly brilliant, I have been missing out,boy am I glad I came upon this dvd. Thanks for posting.
how could you not like them?! what a great infectious sound as with any Irish clan there's so many of them and they look like they'll kick your arse if you don't like them!! Cheers!
There's 11 altogether. It's amazing enough that 8 of them can get together without strangling each other. And I believe that 2 of the other siblings are involved with songwriting/musical arrangements.
ThatDudeInTheSweater, i'm sure it was truly enjoyable to have played the accordion with them. They are great to listen and watch. I've seen them and had the chance to speak with Agnes and Frank
@mociunpictures I was there too! I love the festival, and them! Oh my goodness, they're just incredible. I was a bit surprised we got Denise instead of Agnes, but it was still amazing. My father made sure to run over and buy all their cds before they could sell out.
And we are now watching the next generation of Leahy’s. truly remarkable!
Years later it still gives me goosebumps ❤️
This song still grabs me all these years later. Classic and unforgettable.

They still perform… they are on facebook
We saw this talented family last night in Grass Valley, California, and I have to say it is the BEST performance I've ever seen anywhere. What amazing DNA!
Maybe the best live show I have ever seen. If you have a chance to see them live don't think about it just do it.
Nothing compares to seeing them live on stage
Ha! I see I made this same comment 11 years ago!

The best live performance in entire history of music.

AMAZING! When they are dancing, you can still hear the same beat of the music in their taps! Phenominal.
I was in AWE the whole time...
