Those crucibles don't last forever anyway. Art is in the eye of the beholder. Good job.

Farewell to that crucible, hope it is the solution to the issue. I always cut my rounds into smaller pieces before melting and have never had your issue. Definitely a creative piece of Art
    Best wishes

The art I am seeing on old Antique Roadshow reruns has changed my view on art values 🤣

That rooster in the backround. Also, sweet crucible: looks to be SiC.

If there’s wire in there, I assure you that it is not .9999 Fine copper. If you put in only.9999 copper, then there is a chance. I hit the like button 👍😊.

I'd be interested in further testing, but I'm not sure how. My LCS put his brand new XRF gun on some of my finished products. It showed 99.99% copper.

Question...do you think its the borax that is making it bridge up? Personally ive used it very little because i have bad luck with it. Maybe i dont stir it in good enuf? Ive had issues with it in the molds. Shouldnt need it for bare bright. But thats just my thoughts im no expert 🤣

Borax is critical if your melting oxidized or dirty metal. Clean metal not so much. I'll put Borax on a brand new crucible to kinda slick up the surface. And a little Borax on top of the molten metal to pull out any slag just in case. 🙃

@@TheBrokeStacker that's a good idea. I didnt know about doing that to a crucible. Does it help them last longer? I have a ceramic crucible dish I've treated with borax.
