    It’s like you squeeze the most out of the x100v in every frame! Colours and tones are just so amazing! Metal detector guy between the umbrellas was such a good catch. Well done!!!

    as someone born and raised in Miami, I can't believe you got all these awesome shots... To me, this city is anything but photogenic, so I looked to your video for some street photography inspo. I was really surprised and to be honest, hats off to you for your skill as a photographer to turn my trashy hometown into such amazing photos. awesome work

      Thank you my dude 🙌 I was very lucky jetlag kicked my ass and pushed me to enjoy the sunrise. It's easy to be a custom to your own city and to feel uninspired, so don't get too down about it. Shooting at sunrise and sunset will help you feel inspired 🙌

      Miami unphotogenic? I was born and raised here too and that's the dumbest shit I've ever heard. Miami is fucking gorgeous especially the old art deco buildings.

    Great video and very good capture of the essence of Miami Beach. I also enjoyed your thoughts on figuring out the vibe of an unfamiliar city. I also loved the editing of the photos. I shoot Fuji as well and these have a very Classic Chrome feel that I think is perfect for street photography. The only minor detail is that you weren't in Miami for the majority of that video. You were actually in Miami Beach, a different city altogether. But, everyone mixes that up. Great job!

  • @kiwikea2002

    Thank you for sharing - great photos. I liked your thinking about the "vibes" of a location and how to go about capturing them. Also, when to use contrasting or amplifying. Something which I found useful is - upon coming home again after trips like these to "strange" locations - having a new look at my accustomed environment, "eyes primed" by what I just experienced. Those "vibes" may then inspire photography at home ... new perspectives, looking and finding some of those "vibes" in a different context at home where you never went out to look before. E.g. "body culture and sports" at home. E.g. "beach culture" - which may exist in an artificial way at home, too. Even architecture, cultural aspects and niches, perhaps. Also - what's different at home, and why.
    Again - thanks for the insights.

    • @JamesParsons1
      @JamesParsons1  2 роки тому

      You are so right about that! Coming back from these kinds of trips always gives you a fresh perspective// set of eyes to shoot things.

    I like how you hit on finding the vibe of a city and using it to frame your photos. I love living in LA because each neighborhood is so different. I'm in Santa Monica which is mostly tourists. But if I go right next door to Venice it's completely different. It's skateboards, fitness junkies, and surfers.

    • @JamesParsons1
      @JamesParsons1  Рік тому +1

      YES YES YES Chris. Once you start noticing what an area is like, it feels like easy mode when taking photos. Finding ways to compliment the vibe, contrast the vibe, question the vibe. It feels like a big game ahaha

I absolutely loved the thought process explanation about how to observe your surroundings and trying to tell a story or an opposite story after you have soaked in the "feel" of a place. Very nice! Love the sunburst with the guy doing leg raises on the pull up bar at the 8:24 point.
    I live in Florida and 80% of my shots for the year are done from around October to April... it's too hot and humid the rest of the year, even if you get out early.
    Be careful about air conditioning which can cold soak your camera's front element which will cause it to severely fog up as soon as you hit the outside environment. I've taken to holding my camera in front of the heater in my car for a minute before starting my shooting.
    Again, I enjoyed this a lot.

      I am not surprised at alllll that you don't go out much in the rest of the year, that was crazy hot. And thank you for the advice, I actually had a moment when I was on the track and I took my lens cap off after having my camera inside and the front element was fogged up, missed a shot and had to switch camera lol

      @@JamesParsons1 that sounds like a good workflow I'll have to try that. I'll check your presets out! I just got my first Fuji camera about a month ago (I usually am a Sony guy but I was looking for a small every-day camera), I am super impressed with with all of the film Simulation Features and I've been playing around with a bunch of different film simulation recipes over the past weeks. The film simulation stuff is seriously underrated in my eyes and I don't see enough people talking about it, the workflow of having edited pictures come directly out of your camera is so powerful 🤯 Have you played around with any film simulation recipes? I also just published a very similar video to this one on my channel yesterday but I used film simulations only for a 3 day trip, if you're interested 😊

    • @JamesParsons1
      @JamesParsons1  2 роки тому

      Whats up Deniz - Can't say it's ever felt warm to touch? Compared to my Sony's this thing is cold as ice lol. And the noise of the lens is nothing compared to most interchangeable lenses, plus the leaf shutter makes this camera nearly silent when actually taking pictures.
      If you are worried about the noise of this camera, you've got nothing to worry about :)
