i went from mercedes ml, grand cherokee, to volvo xc 90 and now have this fantastic Amarok v6 highline, im not going back to the other cars ! this thing drives fantastic and yess its really fun to drive , comfortable and relaxing .
These things are as perfect as a car can be built. The best Ute on the market in Australia by far atm with the Ranger being second. In 2 years they will be the same ute
Just traded up from a 2.0 Core to a V6 Highline Black 580. After driving many utes and having a Hilux work car, I love the way the Amarok handles and the tub is brilliant. I wanted to trade up before they go with Ford as I like the look and handling of the current car. Cannot recommend the Amarok enough, not too many frills compared with the opposition, but it is a rock solid towing, carting and touring mobile!
No mention of the "reverse issue"? What they don't tell you is that the torque converter is limited to only 200 NM in reverse, this is due to a number of factors including no longer having a high and low range and the reverse gear ratio being the same as 2nd gear. A lot of grey nomads will be bitterly disappointed when they attempt to reverse the caravan up any slight incline. A quick test is to put an ordinary house brick behind each wheel and try to reverse over them, have a go if you doubt me! Good news is that an ECU remap can get rid of issues...unfortunately affects your warranty. Good luck!
The Ford partnership scares me, this handles, drives better then the current Ranger, it also has a better build quality. Lets hope Ford doesn't cause the Amarok to take a step back with the new gen.
A couple of errors: * not a twin turbo (2.0/4 cylinder version is twin turbo) * the cheaper Highline also has bi xenon headlights * Highline now available with 580 engine

Ok whatever. I've tried a few comments and had to keep deleting lol. Good to see another review from you, Patrick! As an American, I did have to live vicariously through your review, because Volkswagen doesn't sell anything remotely like this in the states!
Not one to usually leave a comment but had to sub and comment after seeing the Melville maccas! Was after a ute and decided on an Amarok after testing a few others. While it isn't the perfect ute, it surely is the best one to drive. Anyways, great honest review. :)
Great clip good work, I have a v6 sport line 75000k on it love it, it’s the best crew cab going, excellent handling , performance on and off road’, I have driven 4x4s for 27 years in the wa bush beach water crossings hill climbs - just for fun and 23 years in mining this thing rocks and it’s fast , very fast acceleration makes for safe driving and over taking, it can do 227k top speed 250 kph after limiter taken off, if you wanted to. Fuel economy 8-10 lt per hundred on the highway all depending on the day, It’s effortless to drive ::: my other car is a BMW X6 v8 twin turbo / the amarok is close to the performance of that
Hi Craig, wow great talk up on the amarok, I've always been a Toyota man, but I'm considering an amarok now, drove one recently, flies!!! So fast and great torque,
Great review Patrick - Mazda switching to Isuzu and now Ford VW partnership should see some interesting changes in segment - Ranger my favourite but value goes to Isuzu Colorado twins in current market although like a V6 tdi Amarillo core :)
media sometimes not working properly. Lt bit Weak in details unlike Japanese cars. All the rest, awesome- i got a V6 Core which is good enough for commercial uses as well as a family car
Too small, too expensive. This is a midsize pickup. Great for hauling but that would be it. For this amount of money you have a Laramie, Cheyenne, F150 which gives more space and more comfort. Fuel consumption might be good, but we don't drive trucks looking at 1 or 2 l/100km....
@@ansett7687 can't say I disagree with your reasoning. But that was my opinion as a midsize truck owner. We'll see what happens when the truck world goes hybrid/electric.

And fast, and there is nothing better.

Fuel efficiency safety and value for money VW!
This thing goes like a bat outta hell and pulls and pulls.! Beautiful suspension too.

Also the Canyon has LED headlights

😇
Not error he right normal 3.0 V6 is single turbo 165kW and 550Nm the ultimate V6 twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 will kick out potent 190kW and 580Nm.

Nice truck! I love the Amarok
Good to see you’re back Patrick. Thought you may have stopped reviews.
I'm getting a core v6 in a couple of weeks. Being a tradie it seemed to be best bang for buck.
Wish they were in the USA
Yeah, I want this truck!!

Single turbo 👍
8:14 another Amarok appears
Single Turbo 8:50
Hi-line gets the same lights (and everything else) and can be had for $59k 10:05
Awesome truck to bad a can't get it in USA but i have a touareg tdi, i really love the v6 tdi engine a lots of power
About the same price as a GLC300, many lifestyle vehicle options at that price point
What's the color code?
Very impressive
I wonder what its top speed is 150 mph ?
As well it’s the width and head room / it’s the only crew cab I can sit up right in as my height
@8:49 it is not a 3.0 Twin Turbo V6....
I'd like to see a Hilux sr5 review from you:)
Amarok stay the best pickup..... go whatch the pickup race on cargowow

Yeah thats fine if you want a gas guzzler with very little real off road capability and if you also like poor build quality, then yes, you are right

AUSTRALIA??
0:06 what's wrong with your leg?
Earnt my sub😂👍
Not a bakkie, a Golf in a different shape.
That would then make a Hilux a Corolla in a different shape....neither are better then this thing.
