Bucs fan here. When CD plays he is solid in man coverage but has had a hard time catching picks. His only issue is injuries and slightly less talented in zone coverage. He is great in run defense and can tackle.
Dion, your breakdowns, especially in a short time, are the best. JS.
Davenport on a prove it 6.5 million dollar deal. Carlton Davis is an excellent man to man corner who Ja’Marr Chase said is the best DB he’s ever played against. Graham Glasgow with a crazy good deal. And it’s only day 1!!!
The lions didn’t smash free agency; it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t stellar. A last big contract for Glasgow and 2 prove it deals. Still want us to take a stab at Reader or Hunter so that we can prioritize the OLine in the draft. What we did successfully do is avoid tying money that needs to be earmarked for ASB, Goff, McNeill and Sewell extensions that are coming up. People complaining about Davenport’s $$ are missing the point. It’s all front-loaded for just this one year when they have the cap space available, so they should be in a good position to comfortably afford those extensions next year
We need another corner and another starting linebacker , then draft the rest of the team needs
To be fair he did have a question mark in the title
It’s what we’ve done every year so far. So just hush and let Brad cook….. guess what, regardless of what you think, we’re still going to win, plus be right back in the playoffs, ofc we want the biggest names but guess what, we don’t need that to win a Super Bowl. Simple.
@@AmazingBlaze0 don’t know how to read. I didn’t say anything about big names or our ability to make the playoffs. I said we’re reserving future cap space for extensions
Literally day 1. Lol relax
Davenport is good for the money. I like Carlton Davis, great length and gives WRs major problems.
Also is good in man and used to playing in a blitz-heavy scheme with Bowles. So if our pass rush improves, then we may not have to blitz as much this year and we will have better coverage overall.
We were winning games, giving up 250 yards per game to Jefferson, Lamb, and others. Imagine if we only gave up 120
😤😤😤😤
He is OK in man. He is NOT a "man cover", "shut-down" corner. He isn't. I've seen him his ENTIRE pro career. If you THINK that is what you're getting...you're gonna be disappointed. He is NOT worth what he's getting paid. That said...with a better pass rush, he may be a better player with ya'll than he was with us. IF he can stay on the field. BIG IF. This guy is VERY excited about getting him. As a Buc Fan...I'm PERFECTLY ok with getting a 3rd for him.
compared to what we had, he is great in man. He raises the floor of that room compared to the practice squad guys and UDFAs we had playing next to Cam Sutton. Allows us to draft someone if we want to now or later. Never said he had to be shut down lol. If you read what I said, he just only has to give up 120 yards to be an upgrade over what we had.
I'm glad you are happy with the return.
@@scottbaron121 I am sure he fits with what they want him to do. These people keep overlooking Moseley, yeah he has been hurt for basically 2 years - but if he can make that comeback he is their # 1 CB. I think Holmes is recognizing that players get hurt and so he is going with quantity versus letting it all ride on a premium cost player - because all you need is to blow your cap on that one or two guys - and they get hurt - your season is lost - ask the jets about that last year with Aaron Rodgers. That is IMO why he is going after the players he is.
The Carlton trade looks more amazing upon further review! He's a top 5 CB in pass defenses since 2018 yet he's paid $5 million less than the current top 5 highest paid CB! And... He was just injured all last year - but still is in top 5 pass blockups since 2018! Healed up, hes gonna be back on track and have an amazing year for us... A fiscally amazing move for a corner capable of top 5 play in pass blockups at 25% less than top 5 money (Sneed). And... Carlton isnt 25% less of a player than Sneed...
I agree I like both players they fit in to what we do
Thanks chief ✊🦁
Great run support
Multiple injuries!? Sign him!! Geezus
I wanted Detroit to draft Marcus when he came out. He was one of my favorites. Although I would rather have the other former Minnesota player #99 !!!!
I believe we did good in FA so far. Great job little brother
68th ranked CB, still no #1 CB same problems exist and will be worse with the tougher schedule. I'm concerned but hopeful
As a Buc fan...I hope you temper your expectations from CD3. He is NOT a "man cover" corner. Todd Bowles (Buc HC) has said that. He's injured a LOT. He will not make a lot of INT's. He's ALWAYS "around" the ball and is a good zone corner. Unfortunately...he's getting paid like "That Guy". He ain't him. He'll be a GOOD player for y'all. We took him in the 2nd...and returned a 3rd. I'm perfectly good with it.
Sounds about right
I thought Davenport played better with his hand in the dirt
Marcus Davenport seems inconsistent, he’s had 1 really good year and other seasons seemed hit or miss.
the year he had 9 sacks he was healthy he is injury prone sadly but I see him more as a depth piece
Colby Sorsdahl...JUST SAYING 😊.
Oooooph wrong reply to...sorry
Hey Dose,
Just let my Dad Brad do his Magic. He will continue to build this team the way we all will like.
D J Reader would help a lot.
Working on it 📖
slow down kid .. JC
Let's see
Davis, hurt last year
Davenport, hurt last year
Moseley, hurt last year.
I'm not happy at all
Facts another almost if we fully healthy year
Also paying $5.7mill for two DEs that won't be on the team, and still had more sacks than Davenport who's getting $10.5mill
No one cares about your happiness level😂
@@hungrypandastudios6213It’s 6.5 mil base salary
Everyone just take a chill pill trust in the process that got a 1st home playoff game, and a division championship since god knows how long, these players have not played a snap yet ,played with the system yet
Agreed.
dude dont even get half of hutches pressures we will see what he does
I wouldn't say smaaaashed more like meh.
Smash day 1?
He won't resign
Brad is not cooking my steak is overcooked and burnt 😂😂
They should of signed Charleton Banks, he's got some moves. SNOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRR!
We need Derek Henry, Earth, Wind and Fire, in the backfield. The Giants of the Old Days. WARD, Jacobs and Bradshaw. How great would that be.
that would be nuts
expensive i would imagine but it would be very cool
Great pickups and didn't spend a lot of money
This dude tlk like an essay wit no ? .
That's the way he works, he definitely does his homework.
Let Brad cook 🔒
All for re-signing Glasgow and trading for Davis (very underrated lockdown corner). Not really sold that Davenport can be impactful beyond a couple of games. That said, we still need beef upfront and may have missed the boat there. I get Holmes uses FA to patch holes and the Draft to find his breakout players (which he is pretty good at), but you do have to spend some money sometimes.
What makes you think the lions smashed Day 1? Davenport can’t stay healthy, he’s not the answer for pass rush he’s depth! Everyone in the division got better ! The defense struggled against the pass last year and so far they’ve added nothing to help.
Smashed? With what? 😂😂😂 an overpaid, underperforming free agent and a trade that was literally 1 draft slot higher to get sneed?
How do you know what the Chiefs wanted?
What an ignorant take. We got 2 sixes, gave up a third. Sneed is franchise tagged. It would of cost us TWO firsts. SMH same old Lions fan
Watched last night and you said Davenport was making 10.5 million totally a lie. Then you come on here and say you know what the Chiefs were asking for Sneed.
😭😭😭😭
Romeo- 25 sacks $3.8mill
Davenport- 23 sacks $10.5mill
Exactly
Double digit sack seasons:
Romeo- 1 (10 in 9 games)
Davenport- 0
6.5 why do you guys keep saying 10.5?
@@briancash1405 Max value of 10.5, knowing Holmes the other 4mill is back ended into next year and will count towards the dead cap.... Just like all the FAs we signed last year
This not smashing fa these average to below moves especially for a team a field goal away from superbowl
I've got a feeling that Brad will whiff hard this off-season as far as filling holes on this team🤷. Hope y'all can wait another 60 years to win a super bowl 🤣🤷
Just goes to show we're building through the draft. Not interested in these pick ups tbh
Davis suck 😂😂😂
He was CB1 in Tampa🙄
@@briancash1405 that’s why he’s gone terrible choice lol
The Lions failed miserably
