    jazakAllah for clarifiying this issue, i've been memorizing the Quran and suddenly to know that you CAN'T "absolutely" recite the Quran. and i didn't know the second opinion exists, as it was impossible for me to stay away from reciting it even for a single day.

      @Kurmanj9 10 місяців тому

      These opinions exist because of the evils of analogy and following other than the Quran and Sunnah. However, "ustadhah" Maryam Amir is of the same methodology as the scholars who supported the first opinion, meaning that her efforts and intentions aren't sincere for salvation or spreading the truth, just pushing an agenda by going against the majority. Specifically, the agenda of modernizing Islam.

      Don't touch the book and don't pray the Salah in your period.

    Also, it's worth mentioning taking the Rukhsa from the Maliki school to touch a mushaf and recite for the intention of study if you're a teacher/student of knowledge.

    the Nabi saw was so comforting to his wives during their period nowadays people are so harsh for women with periods Aisha reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to me, “Bring me a mat from the mosque.” I said, “I am menstruating.” The Prophet said, “Your menses are not in your hand.”

    For me personally, the biggest evidence that reciting Quran isn't prohibited during menses is the hadith where the Prophet pbuh says that a woman is deficient in her religion bcoz she can't pray and fast during menses. He didn't say that women can't recite Quran during menses. And recitation is a huge part of our worship. If such a thing was to be prohibited, there would be clear commands about it.

    Thank you for this type of content. Very helpful, Informative and to the point. Please do more videos like this, Sister Maryam. Topics specific to a womans experience. Along this same topic, could you clarify whether or not sisters can attend the masjid on their periods? I read eid is ok, right? For example, could she be in the musalla to attend a lecture or class or even jummuah?

      Ameen to your kind dua! As with this video, it's a difference of opinion amongst scholars on whether or not it's permissible :) most scholars hold it is not, minority of scholars point to the lack of explicit evidence to say it is allowed in addition to the fact that some women did clean/live in the masjid at times and they clearly would have been in menses and yet were not asked to leave during those circumstances. may Allah guide you to what is best!

    I simply wouldn't do it. If I'm menstruating, I can listen to it, but it's best if I don't recite it. That makes it easier to avoid confusion. I would not touch it, either. If this is the correct view, I believe Allah's infinite wisdom as to why this ruling in place. XOXO

    Islam brought many guidelines to protect society from fitan (tribulation and temptation) and moral decline. Undoubtedly women's going out of their homes and mixing with men and speaking softly to them whilst wearing their finest adornments are all among the greatest causes of fitan. Concerning this the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "I have not left behind me any fitnah more harmful to men than women." Narrated by al-Bukhaari (5096). And the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "Beware of this world and beware of women, for the first fitnah (trial) among the Children of Israel had to do with women." Narrated byMuslim (2742). -Copied

    Asalamualaykum wrb.What is Sister Maryam said is not entirely true.Most fuquhas said no recitation of Quran in menses or state of Janaba.This is the case unless the person is teacher of Quran needs to teach due to work or the person is taking exam cannot be adjusted to her fee menses days.As the lady is impure cannot pray or fast or go to place of prayer . Doa is different from Quran one can make anytime.Also the lady in menses can touch Quran not total Arabic w translation.Can cross mosque to pick Quran but covered w cloth. Also those w menses the longest period is 15 days after that considered istihadhah can pray fast hold recite Quran.
    One needs to know properly the Jurists before deciding the fatwa whether majority or only one.Its better the majority though its allowed on one Fuquha only.Mariam needs to refer Fiqh Sunnah book by Sayid Sabiq and Fiqh for Women by Nurhana Ibrahim and Fahmi Mahmoud PhD.

      Your position is wrong. Fiqh as Sunnah is unreliable. She is quoting sunni ulemas with the schools of fiqh which comprise of thousand upon thousands of scholar whom have research the issue with all the main proofs going back to the source. We are not abandoning the majority for fiqh Sunnah that is simply intellectual suicide. There is ikhtilaf so you can follow one or the other. No need to argue about an issue that has been decided for centuries.
