  • The Ancheer Power Plus Electric Mountain Bike is an extremely low cost value ebike with surprising features like Shimano 7 speed system, front suspension, gets you outside and having fun again, and is one of few brands available with speedy Amazon Prime shipping. A lot of cool details here like battery integrated headlight, rear mounted kickstand to eliminate annoying pedal lock, the electric horn, rear rack provisions, and a comfy gel saddle. 250 watt hub motor, 36v 8ah metal enclosed battery pack, 7 speed Shimano Tourney with derailleur guard, and 160mm mechanic disc brakes. Some quality compromises, doesn’t match performance for real mountain biking, can look like more of a conversion, and our bike failed during testing.

I bought one 2 years ago and to me was worth it. I paid $600 and I used it for a bike path we have that runs over 20 miles and has really no hills. On peddle assist 1 I was able to go 45 miles. The headlight and horn broke in about a week and the bearings in the crank wore out but I was able to fix both pretty easy. One thing I suggest is a suspension seat post which made a huge difference in the enjoyment of riding it.
I crashed into a car and bent the forks, wheel and handlebars otherwise I'm sure I would still be riding it. I would buy one again for the use I used it for but like said in the video if you think of it as a mountain bike and think you will be doing hills then you will be disappointed.

PLEASE expand on cRash- did the WRONG WHEEL get slowed or the EXTRA cable length needed to clamp delay contribute?
After repairs did you exceed cost of a 1st generation Western Civ model used?
Was any concern about RANGE a joke as you can buy a dozen spare BOTTLE BATTERIES for less than pedego etc. would charge for just one bike and under 2 or 3 of these batteries range?
Do you agree this is a ebr not embr channel and plenty of five FIGURE bikes with slicker narrow tires this can use have comparable WATTAGE?

@@fojrsepta4959 Crash was my fault for looking down trying to reset my odometer and didn't notice I moved over on to the shoulder and ran into the back of a parked car. I was on peddle assist 3 so it had a good force with it. The braking had nothing to do with the crash.
I have not repaired anything yet because I tried contacting the company to see if I could get parts but all my emails went unanswered. Every now and then I look for used ones to buy for parts but I never see any especially ones that are close enough and cheap enough to be worth it. I also didn't want to just try to buy parts off amazon because I'm not that knowledgeable about exactly the parts I needed.
I did want to get another battery but I really did not find any at the time that was an exact fit without having to modify it. The range I felt was pretty good for where I rode it. It was approx 20 miles to end of trail and 20 miles back and on assist 1 I was able to do it with some battery left. I also would kick it up some or use throttle on the way back depending on battery level.

Switch to peddle assist high then press the plus and minus buttons simultaneously for a second and you will unlock the speed limiter. The bike will hit a top speed of 20 mph. I weigh 225 lbs. and my bike has no problems reaching 20 mph on flat land. I've gotten mine up to 24 mph with the speed unlocked and by peddling at the same time. Add a second 8 AH battery pack and a parallel blender and you can ride at full speed for over 25 miles. I have a VIVI Sport Foldable Mountain Bike which is the same exact bike - only a different color. Great video!

@robinrutschman - When it lasts 1-2 seasons, amortization $300-600 a year and total usage 1K-2K miles is not reasonable. Decent $1,500 city-country bike will last +4 years and 7K-10K miles before replacing battery and other expensive parts, so do the math. Would be more capable and comfortable, too.

I bought this bike on line for $550. and I love it. I live near a trail like the one in your vid. and it's great for that. I am 67 years old and weigh about 200 pounds, I am surprised at how far that battery will take me. I normally ride in the low or mid range if I see an incline coming I go to the high pedal assist to get my speed up and it handles the hill quite well. This is a low end entry level e bike that costs far less than many bikes with no pedal assist. My advise to anyone who might buy one would be to upgrade the tool kit as the shcs need to be tightened on occasion and the hex. wrenches that come with this bike are sub par.

First of all. This is NOT a mountain bike. Why would start by saying you failed in your mountain bike test ? Yes it is a mountain bike "type" designed for the economy mass market and not to hammer in the mountains. Respectfully you keep knocking the bike full well knowing that it is $600 on Amazon for an e-bike. I can tell clearly that you are very experienced reviewed $1500 and UP e-bikes but you really did not to come down to us average working folks or people testing out the idea of an e-bike and START at $600 knowing they can write it off if they hate it :-). Sadly, I think you discouraged a lot people who could benefit from buying an e-bike. You did not do intentionally because you are a very nice guy :-) On the upside I did learn quite a lot about things to look for in an e-bike :-) I sincerely thank you for your time that you spent with us :-)

A couple of points I'd like to point out, 1 is check the screws are tight for the battery casing as your's rocked and mine did too until i tightened the screws up.2 check your front and rear spooks for slackness as mine got loose after just two weeks OK now though. 3 check the derailleur guard has not been squashed in during transit as mine was. thanks for the review take care enjoy the rides E Bikes are a blessing in high winds.

i used to have one of these, although this looks like its been updated slightly since the version i had, which i bought about 2.5 years ago. but while its a decent ebike at a decent price for light use, for heavier use it wont do, such as if you add a basket for doing shopping and carrying loads. twice i had the battery die from being overworked, even though i was within their stated limits of the bike's capabilities. the first time they did send me a new battery, but the second time they said too bad, even though it was still within the one year warranty.
after that, i built my own ebike with a kit from amazon, and thats definitely the way to go if you can do it. you can choose whatever base bike you want, and for the electronics, you get a LOT more for your money doing it that way. instead of a wimpy 250 watt motor, ive now got a 1000 watt motor thats faster and more powerful, so it can easily handle loads. and by getting a used bike to convert, in total i spent only a bit more than the cost of the ancheer but have a MUCH better bike.
and nice that you caught on to the water reservoir of a battery mount. i drilled a couple small holes in mine for drainage.

This bike is obsolete now - The ZNH (Z3) is the BEST ebike out there for like $800 and it's pure quality - Walmart customers rated it 5 stars all across the board - Its a powerful 350 watt motor - 5 pedal assist modes with a hidden battery - Excellent suspensions with both front and back disc breaks - Incudes a front light and horn - Top speed is 20 MPH and it has a throttle for even more speed - Each pedal assist mode has a "boost" that you actually feel after 1 seconds of activation and the battery life lasts extra long - Range is 47 miles on assist

I would never trust it on a mountain or any off-road scenario, but for the average adult pedestrian, it will get you from point A to point B. In summary, it does a pretty good job, particularly for the money. But Man, you were cracking me UP!!

They are cheaper on Amazon. But, your bad experience in this test-ride was not an accidental. From what I read, even those that pass the hit and miss quality control at the factory, don't last more than a season or two, not worth repairing. Just a tiny notch above being a disposable. Low-level parts, low-level design, non-serviceable motor (and a weak one, too).

    • @ElectricBikeReview
      @ElectricBikeReview  5 років тому

It's sad to see something as disposable... it would be nice if they provided more support with parts and stuff, so the aluminum, rubber, steel, and plastic that make this thing could get more of a life... I doubt much of it would be recycled in many cases, so that's my biggest critique of super cheap stuff, if it can't last even if you take good care of it. Although, our hill climb harder tests are probably outside the scope of what this ebike was really made for, despite the mountain name. So, we just did our best to cover it and share what we learned.

Bought a Ancheer e-bike two years ago. Amazon delivered it promptly and the assembly wasn't difficult.
Within twenty-five miles I had a flat, of course it was the rear tire. Not a big deal, repaired it. Soon after that the rear hub drive went out. It happens.
That's when to problems started. Ancheer' has no service recourse and all e-mails take you to a place where nothing gets done, period. I had to ship it back. Thanks to Amazon's return policy, I was OK.
I decided to purchase a five figure e-bike and could NOT be happier. I will turn over five thousand miles soon and haven't had one problem with it.

Lets recap on a few things. No this isn't the cheapest bike you can get. Currently the cheapest you can get is apparently Hyper's E-ride series on Walmart. Yes you only get V-brakes, but the Mountain version has ability for disk in rear and if upgraded forks/new front wheel full disk brake system. In general it's a good upgrade platform, or normal ride if you swipe for 2 small upgrades. Cranks and new chain ring of 40tooth or smaller, and a bottom bracket chain guide. So less then (bike is 645$) (with upgrades is like 50$ more so 700$ you're riding well.).
250watt motor, It's called 'geared' That spooling effect is the motor ramping up to the correct speed the wheel is moving, so if your moving fastly. it'll take abit to roll the motor up to the wheel speed. This is normal for GEARED hub motors. Direct drives are the only ones that have that swift take off. The lower wattage motors also have to take some effort to 'gain speed' when starting slow, because of their lower power ability. So like how fast a car can do from 0-60. it'd be so for 0 to 20 in such time.
Also. Ancheer isn't the specific owner of this bike. No. It's not owned by anyone apparently. It's a Suppler product or also commonly known as a 'NO name product'. Which means a No-name company 'Builds them.' then a 3rd party company 'Buys them.' Stamps their logo on it, and 'RESELLS them'. They don't own, make, design, etc of the product. So your ideal buying ways to a cheap bike would be specifically to look for a bike by a True company that Makes, Designs, Builds, and Owns their product. Like Hyper, Schwinn, etc.
Which currently at the moment. True companies making E-bikes you can find at walmart, from Hyper of the cheapest from 26mountain, 700c comfort, 26inch cruiser (all V-braked.) and their 29inch (disk brake with chain guide), To Kent's Cruiser and 27.5inch (disk brakes) E-bike series for 800$, to Schwinn's 900$ Sidewinder (disk brakes). To some oddball Hover-1 products of Cruiser, Comfort, Hybrid mountain, and Mountain bikes.
Yea their walmart, But amazon isn't far from end of spectrum of bikes. Also besides. The bike isn't as bad. The main ideal thing you wanna look for in any bike. Is the frame. Components if your wise. Can be upgrade to your own personal ability and lets you learn about the bike well.
Find a good Cheap walmart bike with a good frame. You can turn that basically into a Bike shop bike and blow peoples minds. Because everything besides the frame can be upgraded and tuned to your own liking, vs buying a super high end bike with parts maybe you might not even like. And you'd save quite amount to. And if you ever have probs with the frame. You can always swipe it out with something else. (If it's a frame flush battery, well you'll probably have crack open the battery if you go for a different frame without a battery mount, and put it on a rack or in your backpack. Works etherway.).

It is interesting that when you buy/obtain your own bikes the reviews are much fuller and balanced, to be frank, your most recent reviews under your universal service fee have come across as adverts rather than reviews. I understand that without financial support it would be impossible to do all the reviews you have done so I can understand why you have accepted payments for reviews but I really would question calling them reviews

Thanks for your feedback guys! Part of the reason this one could be more balanced and complete is that we bought the bike and had more time to cover it. I agree that sometimes my reviews are more like "overviews" and my language is soft vs. blunt. One thing we do with every bike to empower viewers and visitors is to list all of the specs of the bike and have this great comparison tool electricbikereview.com/compare/ so you can come to some of your own conclusions. I do mean well and try my best to point out the trade-offs, and I'll keep trying. • @fojrsepta4959
      @fojrsepta4959 5 років тому +1

Although the number of MILES you got to put on trike to get depreciated cost per each to WHAT was such a cheaply SWEET teacher peach I bet you so reach! YOU make a point VERY solidly. Spending not pennies a mile on base- but dimes less LIQUIDATION proceeds. It is amazing cars COST two and a half times as much per mile than a zero emmision ebike after just 500 five times....
People don't BELIEVE depreciation losses. Almost no car has EVER gotten miles per dollar. Less than TWO, not even approaching a few IT IS, THE RULE.
ELECTRIC cars depreciate without exception tens of THOUSANDS of dollars. EACH is a dime up to a HUNDRED THOUSAND miles, BEFORE the energy COST.
And then THERE is the ROAD. With methane it was charged. Ecars and ebikes get PAID too little despite making roads safe to at LEAST inhale on. Ebikes are cheated far more THAN OTHER VEHICLES as to road. We pay people THOUSANDS to BUY such car's, including THOSE of us for whom ebikes seem costly.
This is as evil as can be imagined. THAT you spent twenty cents a mile to buy an Ancheer and got NOTHING BACK sucks. You deserve a QUARTER nickel AND dime combined deduction on income taxes and SHOULD be lead plaintiff in equity based action against Congress and IRS....

I think you were for some reason hard on this bike. If you compare it to the bikes you ordered early in this channels history, it is much better than the heavy, klunky bikes you gave a thorough test of and didn't hate too much. Not that you hated this bike, but the review seemed to go right into the negatives rather than a general overview of the bike. Other bikes with similar power, were praised for "doubling your human abilities" and being efficent. You didn't mention the aluminum alloy frame which keeps it from being heavy like the mail order bikes you bought a few years ago. And the price is not $800. On Amazon right now it is advertised for $625. 99 plus $20 shipping.

Electric bikes (at least in the USA) are designed for the road. Mountain usage is for enthusiasts who are in good physical condition. For most Americans, this is not the case. I would never take an electric bike on mountain trails. I'd be wary about paved mountain roads, but even those have grade restrictions. So maybe.
