It was due to the level going a good couple thousand objects over the 20k object limit at the time, so Caustic was created in case the account got banned for it. Thankfully it still exists to this day, preserving what was the best level of 1.9, which many players of the time will tell you as well
actually a timeless level. this really showed how much you could do with the 1.9 editor and gave everyone proof that with so little you could make so much. beautiful job caustic.
I was told once that bloodbath was actually originally gonna use the death moon song and i cant imagine how different the game would have been if that had been done. This level had a huge influence no matter how you look at it.

And if Death Moon *was* used for BB then the trilogy we know might not exist the way we know it and Dimrain will be less popular. With Dimrain just being popular through Cataclysm, today, his popularity might only be maybe BurgeraX popularity instead of overused artist popularity, a hidden gem, to be precise.

We need more levels like Death Moon. This level doesn't feel like another community made level, it feels like a journey. The length of the level and the powerful song just come together to give me chills each time I play it. And don't even get me started on the banger remake!
Still amaze me how people were so creative with such a limited editor in 1.9.. even if people keep making amazing stuff now, it doesn't have the same charm as levels like this in my opinion

Funnygame is the only creator who can make a level that’s still up to epic rate standards 7 years after it was created And epic rate didn’t even exist.
Rob putting this as the last level of a gauntlet is so deserved. It’s such a timeless classic and it’s one of the most fun 1.9 demon levels I’ve ever played.
This is still one of the best demons in the game with good gameplay, a consistent theme, and interesting effects for the time. Definitely a timeless masterpiece

ah the good old days, when i first saw this it was amazing as hell i was motivated to beat it because i have never beaten a demon that time, after practicing while seeing the beautiful parts i beat my first demon which made me really happy

I beat this level on my phone yesterday during my break at work, and it took me a total of 993 attempts. It was one of the most frustrating levels in the game I have ever played, but it's finally over. Death Moon will always be one of the greats in Geometry Dash history.
Ah, Death Moon. In my opinion, a good Easy Demon to beat if you're looking to improve at XL Levels. I did beat this with several 35-100 runs and a worst fail at 71% Great level, awesome song, a true GD icon. 👍

Death moon is revolutionary, this level is amazing in both gameplay and decoration, both are perfected with caustics/funnygames intent. It also has decoration that nobody has seen before, like the birds, pentagrams and the background to name a few. even when the level has basic gameplay it’s still amazing because of how it’s presented through the levels music. also this level shows that there’s more to music sync than just syncing with a mouse click (like the blood at 0:56). all of this in 1.9 btw

Another great level would be reanimation by terron, it has a few flaws but the amount of effort put into it for early 2.0 was incredible
