I once wrote Paul on his website asking what the best electric guitar was for a beginner. I never thought I would get a reply. He sent a personal note, rather long, telling me the merits of several guitars. I thought that was amazing. He seems like a nice person. One of my top 3 players for sure. I love this album.
Right? I've been saying this for YEARS! Can't believe it's been 10 or more years since I've first heard this album, too. Paul didn't such a great job with this album as a whole, and it's one of my personal favorites.
A combination of factors and all of them are fucking lame. But I was still listening to this stuff back in 2005 when I started discovering all of it, it was available it you dug deep enough
That being said, I have to thank piracy for most of the musical knowledge I have. If I was restricted only to stuff that I could buy "legally" at stores, I would never find any of this. Either you guys like to admit or not, piracy just offers a better service than what the conventional ways can. They should learn from it and work with it, not fight against it.
All of Paul’s solo records are a must to collect. This particular records was a bonus disc at first and not really a official release. If you can find one pay the little extra some are CDr promo only a few were printed up as a release.
I didn't imagine youtube's compression killed so much of the dynamics, it's particularly noticeable in track 3 Escalator Music. In the original you can hear the acoustic guitar so crisp and clean like it was played in front of your face, the lower strings have so much bass in the original and each note lasts forever. This one is still good, but go get the original if you can.
Sadly it's getting so usual that's being as almost default for mastering song productions now. Some friends of mine work in the industry as producers and a few years ago they've been talking about how indirectly YT have make that the professionals change compressions and bit rates of their songs in a poor way. Plus: I'm listening this song right now and is a completly shame how bad it became. It's like it've been played through a distortion and a compression processors.
Thanks for uploading it, lost my entire collection last year... I've noticed that the album with Freddie Nelson "United States" has a few missing songs... If you still have a copy of it, could you reupload? Thanks 🙏 The song "I'm Not Addicted" is one of the songs missing
I can’t believe how underrated this album is! Early Paul Gilbert solo records are up there with the best of all time.

I don't understand why this Legendary Album is not on Spotify

I'm confused as to why I've never heard of this album before, and it's apparently 14 years old. This is fucking beautiful.
