@Lexuslover123 actually, mpg ratings changed in 07, with the new system the 2006 Highlander gets 27 city, 25 Highway, (26 Combined). The new Highlander gets 28 city and 28 Highway.
@Lexuslover123 I definitely agree, the last gen Camry and Highlander were so much nicer, i loved them. And almost all new Toyota's look like Robots!!! They had better wood, leather and much better plastics. I've got a friend with an 03 highlander limited that is soooo nice.
@Lexuslover123 For 2008, the epa created a new system to rate vehicles, a more accurate system. l under this system the original highlander hybrid gets 27 city, 25 highway (4wd). which is worse than the current model. and with inflation that 06 highlander would cost $45k today which is the same price for a 4wd Hybrid limited.
That Toyota logo at the end just hurts me inside.
Have one and love it! I get 26 MPG. Had a non hybrid 2006 before and was getting 19 overall. Nice improvement! go about 100 miles more on a tank.

First actual car been driving a van for years
Been looking for one of these to replace my V8 Jeep Grand Cherokee that gets 15 mpg as a family back up car
2006 car， 7second was definitely impressive at that time
2011 highlander has a 6 speed shiftable automatic,its had it since it replaced the 5 speed in 09...the new 2012 chrysler 200 has a 4 speed auto

my mother has an 06 toyota highlander hybrid. this suv does not go offroad.

CVT sucks! I will not buy a cvt transmission. Period
This suv has a Ecvt transmission. Its very different than a regular belt cvt. Ecvt transmission last really long.
