Here in New Zealand, smurfs were sold at BP gas stations. The first one I saw was a boxed boxer Smurf owned by my cousin. The figures with accessories/settings were rare, and I only ever had loose figures.
The highlight of my week was dad filling up the car so I could get a Smurf. I remember collecting the Olympic Smurf Series. Discus Smurf sticks in my memory for some reason, probably because of the unusual base it came on. I don't recall if it was for a specific Olympics though - since it was probably 1978 or 1979, I doubt it was a real Olympics.
Great video, it was in such good nick considering its age. I remeber my poor Grandad having to out of his way to go to the National garage to get us kids these.
The first time I came into contact with this line of toys, was in a friend birthday in the 80's, the cake was a large rectangular one and it has the Smurf village (it had a river, rocks, trees, grass and sand [all edible]) with a lot of the toys in this line... it was the most gorgeous thing I've seen as a kid when it come to birthday cakes.
I had a load of these smurfs as a kid but we had no National Petrol here in Northern Ireland so I cannot recall where I got them. Thanks for everything you Dave!
I really love these old Smurfs. I had several myself growing up. Don’t recall this one though. Perhaps because we don’t have National stations here in the States. Thank you for the awesome video Dave!
Really great video and I used to love collecting Smurfs, I was actually in one of your videos once talking about Smurfs and childhood toy memories. Loved this one, thanks as always, Danny.
I'm surprised you didn't keep the og hose. If you bring water to a boil, do a 1-2s dip of the kinked part of the hose, and then into cold water - I think it will solve the problem
Nice...i have good memories because of the Smurfs. In Europe, in the seventies ,you get them for free every time when you go to BP for a service or to fill up your gas tank. The Smurfs were much smaller in size than the later versions. The Smurfs (created by PEYO)were just much of a hype like the minions of today
Excellent work on those sticker reproduction files, thank you kindly every time you make one. :) Takes work as simply scanning an original sticker is really just Step One for reproductions, you have to recreate the sharp high-res factory source image so the result doesn't go down a generation in resolution when you print Ie. not a photocopy of a photocopy. I just hope more people do what you do because you can't do them all. ;)
Looks Great! Smurf on a Bike is my lone survivor from childhood :) I'm liking the fact that you got the sticker scan into photoshop but also managed to re-use the originals! I enjoyed the phrase 'Rushly Applied' too -may use that in future ;) TP Vids are definitely better with your talk through though (re: the click-bait experiment) All the best Dude! :)
Hello, Toy polloi! I have just found you recently and I'm already a really big fan of your work. Is there anyway you could do a restoration on the vintage Kenner Droid Factory?
Would it be possible to restore some old godzilla figures? (Trendmasters or even bandai vinyls) just curious because that's one of my main collections. Love your content as always !
@@koryhirsch9114 yep we used gallons (for petrol)....it was the imperial gallon tho, which is bigger than the US Gallon. We swapped to litres in the ??? Mid 80s. We do still use miles on roads tho lol
I'm glad to see a video about Schleich's Smurfs. It's one of those great toylines every kid in Europe has had something from, for decades.
Thanks. I've done a couple of Smurf projects now here and on Toy Polloi two. Not my most popular but I enjoy them.

I would enjoy more smurfs videos

Smurftastic mini restoration, Dave.
This is a great little restoration! I like your Smurfs videos and hope you do indeed grab a few more. 😊

Copper wire inside the hose will help stop the pinching and allow it to be posed
Shared on Facebook and in Facebook group toy roundup
Surprised you don't remake the boxes they come in as well.
Great . Followed the sticker reproduction on the TP2 . 👍
Thanks 👍

Keep collecting smurfs .
Great video buddy I have the super Smurf in box as well along with 74 loose ones
I would have cleaned the stickers up with Degas Elite or NeoChrome. ;)

Thanks. I had the bike one as well but lost the stand.
Oy. Not fair hiding your videos! I need my Toy Polloi fix! 🤣🤣🤣
This will be shared properly in a couple of weeks. Only those who follow TP2 will be able to find it until then.

Hi, thanks for subbing. It's not a set I currently own, but if I get one I will cover it. Cheers
Speaking of things from your childhood, have you seen that Fraggle Rock Dozer figure recently announced by Boss Fight Studio?
I have yes. It looks pretty good.

I remember the trendmasters versions but I don't have any in my collection. I'll keep an eye out for some and see what's up with them. Cheers
@@toypolloi Awesome! I actually didn't expect a reply lol, thank you so much Dave!
So why is this video unlisted? Was it originally for Patreon members? Great video as always!
Perhaps it got hung up in cyberspace 😉
You've past a secret test 🤣

@@toypolloi Ahhh, Toy Polloi ARG. Love it
Why gallons and not liters?
Because in the UK everything to do with measurements is confused. It's baffling.
@@toypolloi Like here in the US, we can buy soda in 12-ounce cans and 2-liter bottles.
Pretty sure we still sold petrol in gallons back when this toy was released
@@TDax I didn't know you had used gallons.

Were these only available in the Uk? I don’t remember them .
🤓🏅
You should adjust the sticker to show 80 pence per gallon of 4 star.. ..
