From NY to the Florida Keys, I flat out CRUSHED my buddy's K1600 a total of 9 times with my C14. I not only had a higher top end, I got there much much quicker! The K1600 is a PIG in all manner of speaking!
Agree they are pigs and overengineered to a fault. Overpriced, expensive maintanace, nothing but a status brag. I'd take the Kawi or any Japanese bike on reliability alone. But as the saying goes, to each their own.
Got a 2008 Connie, best bike ever. I've done 2 strokes, 600's, 900's, cruisers, the lot. The Connie does it all for me. And the power, OMG, big bore but very forgiving.
Sold my 1400 Concours (and my 1800 Goldwing) to by my 1600GT. The Concours is a great bike; but the nod goes to the GT. Off the line the 1400 certainly takes of quicker. At speed however, the GT reacts to the throttle quicker (and no need to downshift). Handling; slight nod to the GT. Price...big nod to the 1400.
I like both bikes. Price per performance, I agree it is the Kawasaki all the way. The BMW is more luxurious and does surpass the Connie in some areas, and for that, you pay the price. Thanks for watching!
My r1200rt goes 150mph no problem it wheelies with just tq no clutching it up. I wanted the concours after my BMW k1200lt but after riding my r1200rt then the concours I went right back and bought the bmw love the concours 14 but my rt stays with my buddies on zx10s and r1s all day long threw all the corners and the tq is just so amazing.
The first thing that needs to be done to this bike is an ECU tune and this guy is the way to go: ivansperformanceproducts dot com/ZG1400.htm. These guys know what they are doing. What's most important to me is that they remove all power & speed limiters, fuel mileage is improved, response improved, etc. It didn't make sense to me that the earlier models were capable of 186mph and somehow dropped down to 150mph range with newer models. I don't need to be controlled by government or corporations. These guys at Ivans have tapped this bike's full potential and performance.
BMW rider has "I Heart Radio"....meanwhile Concours Rider is singing to himself.....this is the two different riders/bikes in a perfect microcosm. I sing to myself often, when the engine in my 1400 isn't providing the soundtrack to my rides.
I have ridden both, and I like the quickness of the Kawasaki, but the BMW is just smooth. Both great bikes, both have a big list of pros, and cons. Depends on exactly what you are looking for, as to which one is better. Of course I prefer the Kawasaki, but the BMW is a great bike too, and no worse than the Kawasaki, and may have its own better points.
Awesome bikes! Both of them! And what a great ride, and weather! Found your channel thru MotoTopher. But I think I've seen you in Streams too. Liked and subbed! Ride safe brother! And Rock ON!
the bmw 1600 is the only bmw that i think looks good, but when i paused at 1:12 geez no thanks ive lost all interest if thats how ugly they are from a riders perspective just hell n, i feel like im having a vasectomy looking at it thats how sterile it is
Resale isn't great on these either, but that is what allowed me to get into this 2013 for less than $5K, with 24,000 miles. Maintenance isn't too bad, Oil changes are pretty easy, the batteries in the TPMS suck, and have to be changed more frequently than I think should happen. Valve adjustments aren't very easy, and are recommended every 25K miles, but they are bulletproof other than that, pretty much. There are forums that contain this info and more, or I'd be happy to address anything specific you want to know.
My 2009 C14 is the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned- it has gone 95,000 miles with just a dead headlight bulb and battery . I do my own maintenance like oil and tires, and this thing runs better than any other bike on the road today. The engine is a beast and will smoke a 1600 BMW- done that along with the FJR 1300.
Awesome video brotha haha I do have to say you probably shouldn't quit the day job for singing 😂😂😆😆👍👍 ps your add for me was a gopro add hahaha. Still getting that gopro money and not even using one lucky lucky
The windscreen came with the bike. I'm fairly confident it is stock, or the previous owner went thru a lot of trouble to print Kawasaki on it. I really like it, but being tall, it could be a bit taller, when I want protection from the wind, it hits me square in the forehead.
BMW confuse me. People say they love them and they are the best bikes but many also say that BMW never supports its customers and the bikes break down often at great expense. The boxers have the driveshaft problems among others. You would think a bike that cost 25 or 30 k would be reliable and BMW would fix any issues quickly to keep their reputation. My friend has a boxer and states that BMW stands for bring my wallet. All the electronic gimmicks are nice until they get older and break down. I would go Japanese. Cheaper and more reliable. Better dealer network. Spending more does not mean you always get a better bike. It just makes you have less money in your account.
I would tend to agree with you. I would however, even with all of this said, love to have a BMW GS1100. Not until I win the lottery though. I think that BMW caters to a clientele that has enough money that the maintenance costs aren't as much of an issue for their average consumer.
Any bike is expensive ,Harley , Honda Goldwing , BMW K1600 . The rate for shop time is well over a hundred bucks an hour for any motorcycle . I'm on my 3rd BMW ,the worst thing that broke down on me was a heated hand grip . Like anything you have to do the prevented maintenance . I've owned a Harley and a Honda that have both left me stranded on the side of the road .
These days, get a 190/55 on a bike that would normally run a 190/50, you get the extra contact patch of the 190, with the more responsive handling of a 180/55
I have K1600GTL 2012 at 40.00km, but it has down with timing chain jump. It didn't start up after i turned engine off for motor heat up warning at 1400km away from my home. I never suggest to any of interested potantial buyer the bmw motorcycle. I bought it with big dream and future tour plan. Motor was full serviced by local official bmw dealer always on time. Germany motorrad head management refuse to cover problem also. They ask me 20.000USD to fix. Never buy it. Or buy it for only listen music with it.
+GRANITURK LTD. I'm sorry this happened to you. I don't know the circumstances behind the failure, but one reason I went with a Kawasaki was because it would be more affordable to maintain and repair if necessary. My concours/GTR1400 has 40,000 miles, and is running like new. Best of luck with your new radio.
It might as a whole, but not compared to the weight. The top rpm of the Honda is 6500, the kawi redlines at 12000. The Honda is consistent-ish, the kawi gets more power at higher rpm. Thanks for watching!
Oh Alright!, I'm sorry but you are mistaken. Check the badging 5 seconds into the video. I recommend full screen, and turn on HiDef. The GLT is very easy to see. He doesn't always cruise around with the back trunk on it, which is maybe why you had the thought it was just a GT. Regardless, it is a cool bike. Thanks for watching.

Yeah, they are great machines for sure! Thanks for watching!

But as the saying goes, to each their own.
Been on several concours never been on the bmw1600k but the Kawasaki will fly and I mean fly
Got a 2008 Connie, best bike ever.

I have only test ridden the 1600. It was a great bike! Enjoy your awesome ride, and stay safe out there!
A couple of extremely beautiful bikes mate. And the roads you were on. Stunning !!!
+Volgnit Thank you! Hope to get more stunning views as the weather warms up.
Like the Concours, ditch the over priced BMV.
I like both bikes. Price per performance, I agree it is the Kawasaki all the way. The BMW is more luxurious and does surpass the Connie in some areas, and for that, you pay the price. Thanks for watching!

I have a 2009. Is it worth flashing since it does not have the limitations stock?
BMW rider has "I Heart Radio"....meanwhile Concours Rider is singing to himself.....this is the two different riders/bikes in a perfect microcosm. I sing to myself often, when the engine in my 1400 isn't providing the soundtrack to my rides.
Often the 1400 is music enough for sure! Thanks for watching.
Both bikes are nice! Have sat on both but haven't ridden either. Maybe one day.
I have ridden both, and I like the quickness of the Kawasaki, but the BMW is just smooth. Both great bikes, both have a big list of pros, and cons. Camera may not do it justice but wow, that's beautiful country. NE ALA concours owner.,
Thanks for watching. I agree, beautiful country.
A chum of mine had one of those BMW.. Gave nothing but expensive trouble...
Luckily, my pal's BMW is pretty reliable and runs well.
Awesome bikes! Both of them! And what a great ride, and weather!
Found your channel thru MotoTopher. But I think I've seen you in Streams too.
Liked and subbed!
Ride safe brother!
And Rock ON!
Awesome! Welcome aboard! Will be doing a live stream tonight on Topher's channel. Hope to see you there.
Great Ride, bikes and views if u were the cops the subaru was pulled over...lol
the bmw 1600 is the only bmw that i think looks good, but when i paused at 1:12 geez no thanks ive lost all interest if thats how ugly they are from a riders perspective just hell n, i feel like im having a vasectomy looking at it thats how sterile it is
That is one of the funniest comments I've received. The instrument panel looks a bit better when running, it has GPS, and stuff.
You know you ride the front range when you instantly recognize that road as coal creek canyon :D
Awesome! Good to have another CO rider. Thanks for stopping by.
What about maintenance? And reliability? With the bmw, plus the resale on the bmw sucks,

+MotoTopher Thank you bro! It was a fun ride!
Hopefully they Give the concourse 14 cruise control
My Concours has cruise control. MC Cruise.
I added electronic cruise to my C14 for just over $200. (Rostra Cruise control.) Has worked great for the last 45k miles!
Hey mate, how does that windshield work for you? Doesn't look stock.
The windscreen came with the bike. I'm fairly confident it is stock, or the previous owner went thru a lot of trouble to print Kawasaki on it. I really like it, but being tall, it could be a bit taller, when I want protection from the wind, it hits me square in the forehead.

The Kawasaki needs a 180 rear tire and it will behave nicely after that.
I now have a Pilot Raod 3 180, and I have to agree, it loves the twisties! I love the Concours. Thanks for watching me ride my Fat Ninja!
These days, get a 190/55 on a bike that would normally run a 190/50, you get the extra contact patch of the 190, with the more responsive handling of a 180/55
It works best with 190/50 PR4.
Works best with a 180/55 PR2👍
I live in evans co cool deal
Nice, so basically Greeley? I want Cruise Control badly. But then again, have not been on a trip to warrant Cruise yet.
What year is your bike?
+Mike Hoffman hey Mike, thanks for the subscription. It is a 2013, nocturne blue, the fastest color😀.
Everyone knows Atomic Silver is the fastest color! ;-)
Silver Damn it! Is the fastest color, Although I own a black 2011 Connie.
Moonstone silver for me
good KAWASAKİ
what happened to the MV...
I'm not sure what you mean MV? I have never owned an italian motorcycle. The NC700X was traded in for the Concours14.
@@RiderObvious Sorry..@5:36 I thought you said something about your MV...I was wondering what you didnt like about it..lol!
My microphone isn't so good. It was the "NC" I was referring to. The NC was fun to ride, but could barely reach 100 mph, much less pass like that.
Is this in colorado
Yes Chris Biggs, it is in Colorado!
Yes, and that road is Coal Creek Canyon, I've ridden it a few times myself :)
i love gtr1400
Me too, great bikes!
i would wanna bike like that but then i was like NO! lol self " your yound and your butts still made of steel get a large dirtbike lol
So what are you saying about my butt bro?!? lol. I have to say, it is fun being just about the fastest thing on the road.
I have K1600GTL 2012 at 40.00km, but it has down with timing chain jump. It didn't start up after i turned engine off for motor heat up warning at 1400km away from my home. Concours 1400's are bulletproof.
I would have to believe the 4 cyl. kawi have more low down torque.
It might as a whole, but not compared to the weight. The top rpm of the Honda is 6500, the kawi redlines at 12000. The Honda is consistent-ish, the kawi gets more power at higher rpm. Thanks for watching!
kawa is much more a beauty
Thank you. I think so, but I am biased a bit.
And that’s what sux about the Connie, you have to sing to yourself
Your buds bike is a GT, not a GTL.
Gtl
Can you say nerd, who still says “smoking pot”, was this video recorded in the 60’s or the 2000’s.....Lol....
I'm glad you liked the video. I have a better question though, who still uses the term "nerd"? I did re-watch this, and yes, I am a nerd.
Kawasaki Ugly as hell 🙈
