Marc's guitar here is a Gibson Les Paul Standard which had the neck broken off in an accident at an airport (Marc saw it happen). He had a neck from a Les Paul Custom put on to replace the broken one. Several years ago, Gibson released a Marc Bolan Les Paul replica. He must have really liked that guitar. When it was stolen, he bought a wine red Les Paul Standard (as seen on the Marc tv show).

The very first single I spent my pocket money on.
Those crunching power chords, make "20th Century Boy" a stone-cold rock classic, no matter how one slices it.
    Never should a track have sounded so obviously a No1 record...but wasn't.

I do trust you celtic tree! I too was a teenager during ALL the classic 70's eras too, I just think I may have been misinterpreted a little. My first concert was in fact T*REX in 1973 Sydney Australia (when Bolan eventually decided to tour there at long last.) I think I was trying to give major credit to all predecessors of punk (Godfathers or Uncles so to speak, like your Bolans/Iggys/Bowies etc. who definitely moulded the way for what was about to take place a few short years later, that's all.) But I would never contest anybody that Punk and Glam aren't two separate genres for sure. But I rest my case with Iggy's Raw Power album released 1973 (pre-punk rock) that was punkier than some crap that veiled itself as new wave/punk rock that was coming out post mid-late 70's. But I really do appreciate the chat all the same, I just love re-living the era, the whole decade, and after in fact. Those were exciting times! Really were! You've got me going now. Cheers!

Marc was the enemy of te Music industry. The Stones got their own label first. Marc and EMI came to an agreement.
Unheard of in the day, bar Apple.
You gotta listen to Marcs lyrics on two levels.
He was mates with everyone. Tina Turner hascstated it was Marc that came up with the riff for and plays on the single of Flatbush city limits.
Pink floyed had an office Marc met June there.
"some call me me Arnie, some call me lame, it dont make no difference, man you know I aint tame" arnold layne/cross dressing.
Culminates in loose wheel nuts in a Hawkeind mini with Fox in the rego into sycsmore tree cnr of Queens lane and Gypsey way 16 days before te date he had said three years previous he would be dead by!
Massive back story. Pinky broke from the mould. Boley, Bowie, Glitter, at the extreme Saville.. BBC... Pretty mucked up days.
