Correct. They fixed all the bugs at the end of it's run, but it was too late to save the sales. I never even saw one in any store in fact. @@Kosmokatze_de
I always laughed at Alesis synths in the past. Mostly sample playback with limited filter options. But I picked up the 61 key model fusion a few years back and my jaw dropped when working with the analog modeling and deep dive into modulations involved. And polyphony is never a problem. Definitely a synth I will never sell. Built extremely well, so many options to create sounds and just a great board for sitting down and letting inspiration flow. Plus it remembers where you left off last time you powered down, which is great to get back to what you were doing last session. I'd say it's downside are the quality of it's effects, wait time to load some of the more file heavy sounds from the hard drive, and the tendency to trigger the note again when the key comes up when playing hard and quick styles (probably just on the 61 note version).
Thank you Sonny! The fusion is really a rather unknown underdog. But a very versatile synth. VA, FM, physical modeling and sample engine on board. Unfortunately difficult to use and weighs 30 kilos 😜
@@Kosmokatze_de hah, there's always a price, I guess. But in the past, heavy usually meant high quality. Do you have any modern gear at all? I've for a long time avoided new things (because nothing interested me) but I think that might soon change!
@@johannes.nieuwenhuizen I don't have any really up-to-date instruments. I own a Blofeld and a TR8. But also already legacy products. And i still use a Motif XF. But that's more than 10 years old. I'm considering buying a Wavestate. I really like the sound.
@@Kosmokatze_de the wavestate looks fun and the Blofeld is a great little box. Yamaha have announced a new instrument launch this October. It will replace the Montage, so maybe it'll be a new RS 😂 (I seriously doubt that)
@@johannes.nieuwenhuizen The Montage was almost like the Motif series. Unfortunately with a bad sequencer. The Motif have the same principle as the rs, almost the same! I hope Yameha has learned and builds that into the new Workstation.
I have owned three of these keyboards over the years although unfortunately never the 8HD. The Fusion was and stil is an amazing keyboard. Ahead of it's time with sample and synthesis, virtual analogue, FM and physical modelling, 32-track MIDI sequencer plus an integrated 24-bit, eight-track hard disk recorder along with 8 individual inputs. If you can get hold of one today, do it!
absolutely. When it comes to the versatility of sound engines, even modern devices cannot offer more. Only the operation is of course not as convenient as with current Workstations
@@UFO-Ark They are certainly not light but they are well built. PSU problems on the 6HD seems to be common. Had that issue myself. They are difficult to find a replacement for.

I'd forgotten this interesting synth. I owned one about 15 years ago, and really loved its sound and its ease of use. But it was riddled with bugs and problems, too unreliable for live use.
For live, the weight would be a co-criterion for me 😁 I couldn't find any real bugs with the last version. The operation just takes some getting used to.
I would agree with you. The only bug I get every once in a while is coming across a patch that has not loaded the correct sample from the hard drive and replaces it with another initial tone. Which of course would suck at a gig, having to power back up and wait a few minutes in doing so. Plus, when I play with a quick rhythmic style, the keybed often triggers the sound again on release (6hd at least). Love the thing dearly but not one for a live performance in my opinion. @@Kosmokatze_de
@@ericlilly1454 I've also had an error like this where the samples aren't loaded correctly. I might have to set up the whole device again. But so far I've always been too lazy
Ive 2 of these...
So powerful
Wow. I did NOT know that Alesis made a synth like this. I used to own a QS7, used it for many years. When I sequenced with it I used my PC.
Unfotunaltely a real underdog. Possibly because of the bugs during the release. The QS is also nice, but not very common here

Hallo Ralf, vielen Dank! Deine Interpretationen gefallen mir auch gut! 👌
Looks like, and sounds like, a wonderful synth that I didn't know of. Congrats on the sound pack!

Kosmo-what is that small module you have perched on top of your fusion on the far right side?
It is a Waldorf Blofeld 😉
Do you sales sound?
If you mean this bank here, you can download it for free from Alesis
