Depends on your state laws, but typically yes. I know in my state its considered a motorized craft and falls under all the same laws.

Yes you do. This boat was a demo a friend brought from a different state, but I couldn’t let him come all the way to California not try it!

In my state the minute you put any type of motor on any type of floating watercraft you must register it & equip it with safety equipment & have a valid boaters safety certificate.. would kind of defeat the purpose of a yak for me.
