This show has some WW2 era stuff in it. But, the soldiers typically have M-1951 Field Jackets that have a zipper and snaps. The M-1943 Field Jackets would have had buttons. There are also M-1951 wool shirts that are thicker for the cold Winters of Korea. Some soldiers have had Name-Tape patches removed from above the upper pockets on their M-1951 Field Jackets. Name-Tape patches didn't exist until the Korean War. (John Wayne had his character's name stenciled on the back of his H.B.T. shirt in "Sands of Iwo Jima". Marines would stencile soldiers names on the backs of their combat uniforms in WW2.) On this show, they wear Frog Skin Camouflage helmet covers which were typically used by Marines in the Pacific Theater during WW2. The helmet covers look kinda out of place in Europe. (Sgt. Saunders on 1960s "COMBAT" got away with having a make-shift camo cover cut from a silk frog skin camo parachute.) This show also use elastic bands on the outside of their helmets, that are Korean War era. There were no outer helmet cover elastic bands in WW2. (Pvt. McCall on season 5 of 1960s "COMBAT!", had a rubber tire tube cut into a band on the outside of his helmet, which was a WW2 era make-shift outer helmet band.) This show uses Korean War era "Handie Talkie" portable radios, that look different than the WW2 version. A bunch of smooth sided Korean War era Cal.30 Ammo Cans get used in this show, the WW2 era Cal.30 Ammo Cans would have pressed designs on the sides. There are also a lot of Korean War American tanks, used as both American and German tanks. Some soldiers on this show have M-1950 30 Round Carbine Ammo Pouches on their M-1936 Pistol Belts. There is a corruption of Korean War militaria in this 1950s TV show about WW2. Since this is filmed in Germany, the German uniforms are probably real. Not WW2 era Hollywood movie made uniforms. (1960s "COMBAT!" would use 1940s M.G.M. Movie company made Nazi uniforms.) One German Medic also had a radio-man's patch on his cuff in one episode of this show, when he was suppose to be a medic. Still, a pretty good show. Give it a "B" grade for militaria.
Wow, when I saw this on TV I thought it was a modern spoof parody of bad combat acting. Well, it’s even more amazing that somebody actually produces it as kind of serious venture! Now I can see how the kids of the 50’s through 70’s played ‘combat’ like they did! Their ‘playtime’ mirrored this bad acting perfectly!
Jeez, the beginning! German soldiers never wasted ammo like that. They were trained to aim carefully and use short bursts of three to five rounds, the same way we were trained in the Bundeswehr 40 years later. And as usual, no American soldier got hit by one of those many bullets. Finally the guys with the mortar. Of course they didn't move and remained in the open under attack. If German soldiers had acted like that, the war would've ended on D-Day +2.
The surgeon sure sounded like Harry Carey Jr. You can see they raided the quartermaster corp of the Seventh Army Europe. Korean war era field jackets with the names and unit patches pulled. When you ETS'd they took that gear. So it was probably wearhoused somewhere and was used here. It's not Gone With the Wind, but at least they pulled grenade pins with their index finger.
No as someone said we only had Sherman's at the time. Maybe Firefly's and such, but these other tanks were most likely used because of their availability at the time.
@@stephencasey8819 The infantry started getting them too, because they were relplacing the Thompsons because they were over 10lbs will a full mag plus they were expensive to make and buy. The military began getting the grease guns at less than $20 a pop in bulk purchase. Thompson were classic even then, the grease guns were ugly and cheaply made throw away guns, but they worked well.
Wow...I did'nt know they had a group of ww2 soldiers wearing the same helmet as Sgt Saunders (Movie Combat)!!...😆😆😆 I guess sgt saunders was lost from this unit..!?!🤣🤣🤣
Another group of US soldiers with camouflage helmets in Europe. The guns firing off is really like toy guns. And the Americans walk slowly forward when attacking.
Ohh noo Jim Huttons first movie..what a bomb. I could have made this with my friends better. Music is awful acting is GRADE D- but hey for a second feature flim at a drive inn movie ok. People actually paid to see this BOMB😢. the only thing missing in this movie is the, THREE STOOGES. THEY WOULD HAVE MADE THIS NIGHTMARE WATCHABLE. WHO AGREES WITH ME.
Jim Hutton he cool guy he better in comedy I so remember him. He in a movie with Cary Grant and Paula Presley she looked like my Mom. She was so funny. Jim Hutton is in that movie. Its a comedy of errors camping. This is kinda boring Combat is better but its cool. I guess Jim Hutton had to start somewhere gee he died young he was 45. How sad.
Big Slim is Jim Hutton who played in the Ellery Queen TV show. Also is Timothy Hutton's father. Jim Hutton was 6'5. Timothy was just 6'.0.
Thank you
Why are ya'll crying in the comment section about accuracy and acting. Lol this was made in 1956 and none of that mattered back then.
Gvc❤😊😊😊😊😊😊😊❤😂😂😅 no

This show was one of a kind. A quick Google search reveals that these are true war stories reenacted by real soldiers.
BAR man gets hit and slim keeps firing with a grease gun leaving all that firepower on the ground
Really the '1st'! Huzzah!
Me hace acordar a Combate, excelente producción!!!
Jim Hutton was also in the John Wayne Movie Green Beret.
The guys in the jeep are wearing Marine helmets used the Pacific.

The orchestra was better than the acting. Sheesh!

(2:10) Did US military have M48 Patton battle tank during the D-days already since those tanks look familiar with the high turret and cannon size?
no we only had Sherman tanks at that time
No as someone said we only had Sherman's at the time. Maybe Firefly's and such, but these other tanks were most likely used because of their availability at the time.
Being so bad explains why I've never seen it. Think I'll try the second episode a little early.
What about the German POWs next to the ammo?
the beginning of the series combat?
Only 360P? What up with that?
hard to believe its wwii with all that
1950s equipment
ahhhh
the helmet covers are 60s era, not WW2, the tanks used did not exist in 1944.
How many seasons are there of this
Is there more than 12 episodes
They could have at least used Sherman MK-4 tanks instead of Patton tanks.
not good, bad everything...
Patten tanks, they should have used Shermans.
.
The ammo is stashed in the aid station.
Lol i know right
Wow .. Tanks that we did not have in 1944 and Helmet Camouflage that wasn't around then either.
i dont know if this is a comedy or a how not to get killed documentary
When death is so close do not ignore the grace gospel for salvation 1 Corinthians 15:1-8 and read Ephesians 2:8-9. KJV.
18:40 Thats a Korean War era Handi Talkie, not WW2.
Yea i thought so too but even more why does infantry have a grease gun that's a tankers weapon

If they all walked around bunched up like that, one mortar round or machine gun burst would have taken them all out. Combat intervals
bettter if they were up against the Soviets.
How did big slim hit anything with his eyes shut
thanks cool war movies yeah DATIL NM
Oh My God !! The acting is just so...so...freaking terrible ! Did the same film crew that did "Plan 9 From Outer Space" do these shows as well ?
Another group of US soldiers with camouflage helmets in Europe. The guns firing off is really like toy guns. And the Americans walk slowly forward when attacking.
YIKEZZZ!!! 10 seconds in and that is the WORST machine gun position I have ever seen!!!!
Why are they attacking an mg nest straight forward ....lmao even sgt saunders wasn't that stupid
This is NOT "Combat" and it's too predictable.
what a terrible start...what are these M48 tanks doing in this WW2 europe area ? time warp sci-fi show ?

الفيلم ليس له حتي معني
With this crap, I unsubscribed.
1st
Doesn't count unless you've watched the whole thing.😄

Filminho horrível
bad movie
This flic is so much of American propaganda it makes me sick. Canadians lost a division of men using Sherman tanks taking Amaien.
They should have brought their own tanks.
This is so unbelievably bad it's almost entertaining. If this is what Americans were watching no wonder they were beaten in Vietnam.
