adidas Manchester 89 SPZL releasing December 16th. The roots of the idea for the Manchester 89 SPZL came from the collaboration between adidas Spezial and New Order. I had suggested to New Order that given how important they have been to the culture and regeneration of the city that we do a special 'New Order' edition of the adidas Manchester. They had their own ideas on what they wanted to do for their shoe so in the end they politely declined my suggestion. These discussions had got me thinking about what a new version of an adidas Manchester could be and so we decided to pursue this idea as part of the main adidas Spezial range. The '89' in the naming obviously has cultural connotations for Manchester but is primarily about the fact that the use of parallel edged stripes was common place in late 80s designs from adidas. If we were to revisit the Manchester then the shoe needed to go somewhere new but it needed to reference previous colour palettes of adidas Manchester releases and probably needed to stay with the Handball Spezial silhouette that the Manchester is synonymous with.We felt that grafting its colourway onto a different silhouette would lose an essential element in the shoe's identity. Flatteringly a number of colourways have been used on the Handball Spezial silhouette with various other city names since the release of the first adidas Manchester - it was the original that set that agenda so this release needed to be handled with care and respect. Retention of its colour story with a revision in its usage (as a homage to its predecessors) would be an essential ingredient to differentiate it from other releases. In the early stages of its design we drew up about 12 versions with the assistance of Gary Watson (who works with me on Spezial). These were then presented to the Spezial team in Germany. We toyed with different ideas in these CADs-we contemplated changing the toolings and added suspension plugs on some versions but in the end felt that the parallel (and reflective) stripe execution with reworked upper specs moved it on just enough without losing the foundations of the shoe's.

I live in Blackburn and went to the spezial exhibition there wearing a pair of them I've also got the haslingden jkt in green and the new haslingden jkt in black all the best have a nice Xmas Mark blackburn UK ☺☺☺

Enhorabuena por esos pares. Tengo las Koln 2017 y tienes razón en que los materiales son muy muy top. Las blackburn me quedé con ganas de conseguirlas, me parece brutal ese CW, y ese cuero microperforado como las Padiham Spzl (esas si las conseguí).

I think the Man89 will be easier to get, al least there are plenty retailers selling them. The problems with Size? exclusives are always the same. I have participated a couple of times and never won. I just can say, this trainer maybe looks a little bit odd in pictures, even in hand, but on feet, this trainer is really a stunner. Cheers,, mate 🍻

Me gustan los Blackburn, pero me imagino que pagaste un montón de plata por ellos. tengo una pregunta, ¿compraste los Koln en Size? y según dices tuviste un problema, ¿cómo lo solucionaste? Pregunto porque hice un pedido y resulta que están en Suiza, cuando deberían estar en Colombia. Dime qué pasó a ver si me puedo guiar con lo que hiciste.

Qué tal amigo, gracias por comentar. Primero, las Blackburn si me costaron una pasta pero por debajo de la reventa en ebay. Segundo, con lo de Size tienes que meter reclamo al equipo de servicio al cliente. Busca el correo de contacto en la página de Size y escribeles por email, contestan un día después. En el mail les pones la descripción del problema, en inglés, obviamente, y adjuntas tu número de pedido y número de orden y si tienes tu número de guía también la adjuntas y tienes que esperar a ver qué te dicen. Generalmente demoran un buen con los reembolsos. Por eso no demores, es más o menos un mes. Espero que te haya servido, bro. Saludos, carnal!
