RECOVERING A FRENCH TRUCK

- A fellow follower of the channel contacted me for some advice with his French BERLIET cargo truck that was stuck deep in wet mud on a farm.
Me and the gang went over with the Foden to Investigate.
After a successful recovery, it was time for a steak down the local pub.
Will give you a call if my stepsister is stuck in the washing machine again
She sounds like a dirty thing
Is she one of those faa…….”husky” ones?
not again lol
😅
Wind noise what wind.. ? Oh that sound, normal for us Prairie Canadians.
Forget about wind noise, it’s content that matters and I’d much prefer to watch 10 of yours with noise than slickly produced garbage. City people will never understand just how wet and muddy the countryside is
Well said.
Honestly didn’t even notice it. You’re absolutely right. Lived in the mountains my whole life. Always hear it
So true. Wind noteable but didn't detract. This was a great video. Even the Golf enjoyed it!
What's the countryside? Is there one in London?
Зачем мяукаете.?😊
What a magnificent endorsement of the Foden. It did everything asked of it and won the day.
Proud to be ingerlish
No kidding. Has me conviced to find the US version and get it "just in case".
@@AdamBrownKC, I think they have one of those too?
@@AdamBrownKCfrom my experience the only thing that comes close to a foden is the scammell explorer wrecker .
Fodens are solid
Mr Hewes and a Workshop wednesday in one morning. Great start to the day.
I’m off there when this finishes 😂😂
me too
look up " Lottie the tank whisperer "
And Lottie in Oz 👍 great Wednesday
me too , ooRoo
The MIGHTY FODEN💪💪💪 does it again! Worth its weight in gold. Great video as always.
I calculate 23.5 tonnes to be worth approximately £1.2 Billion, so I think you're a bit over.
Serious for a moment, it's nice to see Joe have respect for lines under tension...even if seemingly everyone else around him does not. They're probably one of the few things we see him work with that can sorta just instantly end you if they fail, and there is no time to react once they do, it's just physics at that point. Of all the things to show that little extra bit of caution and genuine safety care for I'd probably pick that too.
Their respect for safety standards in general is dismal, but there are a couple - like working around cables under tension - that scare the shite out of me. They cowboy far too many things and it's going to come back to haunt them one day, especially given they are frequently working with delapidated piles of crap. I've seen someone cut in half by a cable snapping and it ain't fvcking pretty.
@@iatsd Oh shut up Victor Meldrew, Go finish your times crossword, Right after you've finished washing your recycling for the bin..
@@zerocool278quite a few bellends like you 6ft under!
How can you tell me about safety when you allowed someone to get killed in this way? Shouldn’t you be in prison?
I grew up on a farm. Everything is trying to kill you.
@@MrHewes Even Ted, i've seen those eyes, he just hasn't chosen his moment to strike yet.
I do also want to say I appreciate that it appears you managed not rip a single cover on those bales despite the close quarters.
Really good illustration of why you need a recovery vehicle and what it can do.
Sooo we have found the one thing that makes Adam smile. Driving the Mighty Foden 😂😂
and spraying Joe with a fire extinguisher
the moment the recovery team teaches you what 'diff lock' is for at the end of it all
🤣🤣
People who complain about wind in a video like this never go outside or only watch million dollar productions with a boom mic. Keep up the good videos quality is on point.
I do love that Foden - proper bit of kit. Lovely job.
That French wagons a beast. Multi fuel. Winch front and back.
The suspension on them is a sodding nightmare to replace.
But a F. Great waggon to drive.
Hey. Bet you’re glad you didn’t take Jack. Those sheep would have been in danger.
Maybe air down the tires in the French Truck for traction? Having said that the Foden looks absolutely incredible for that type of work …. Invaluable piece of kit
What a beast. The pull available at such an acute angle is impressive. Good recovery unit.
Who cared about the wind....Great job lads. Keep up the great work and keep the content coming ! 👍👍
You guys are great and have so much fun in your work. Your Foden wrecker is fantastic !
A bloody good watch 👍👍👍cheers.
Don’t see the problem, see the solution 👊
You are both spiritual wrecker mechs!!! No better feeling than riding in the cab of a Foden when your crappy FOX has broken down again for 5th time in the middle of SPTA!
Enjoyed the recovery, much like a nasty dental extraction without all of the blood. The trucks tires were a little unsuited shall we say for the conditions. 😊. Was a better sleigh than roller. Good job and always more fun without Health and Safety in the way. Thank you, cheers.
Thunderbirds theme slowly builds to a crescendo... then FODEN POWAH!!! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
with copious amounts of banter and can do attitude thrown in for good measure 👍🏻
Fodens were the most versatile piece of kit you could ever have in a REME unit. Happy days!
The mighty Foden to the rescue again! Top work lads. Very enjoyable video
Never mind the wind! Nice recovery!
I agree fully with you guys regarding the great do-all Foden👍👍! Regarding the Berliet generally speaking those vehicles was always considered in high regards not only in France but anywhere they went in service!
I love the Foden adventures. 'The Great Sheep Farm Rescue'. I don't think you have ever mentioned what kind of farming your dad does.
It's always a good video, seeing the Foden master Adam at work, getting s**t done - you can tell he really loves the remote! :)
Another brilliant video, as you said something different and didn’t worry about the wind noise, the content was great. Thank you.
Had a good chuckle over "that's not litter, it's farm sale rules"
Like watching Ron from midwest truck only more mud and less high vis 😂👍. Good recovery everyone
Reminds me of the stuff my grandad did in the RE recovering vehicles.. before the REME was formed.. very interesting to watch..
Suddenly, the Warn Winch on my Defender seems inadequate! lol. Great video.
Great understanding what can and can’t do with the six wheelers . Heads off.
Hats ……..yes I am Dutch
You got it out👍🏼 If you want to slew a vehicle in soft ground and you have drive on the axle that you want to slew (and preferably lockers), winch at an angle like you were and drive forward with the stricken vehicle rather than reverse. Everything slews much easier, requires less force so less likely to pull tyres off. Entertaining video. Berliet made some awesome trucks.
Felt like I was along for the drive, I love a road trip. Found myself reaching over for a sip of that sugar free redbull from Adam.
I am beginning to see where your love of the Foden is coming from now...
Also i am loving the Black and White.
Only the foden capable of doing all that shifting in one go , very valuable asset ! !
Great stuff, the Foden is a BEAST.
Big Fred was our awesome ERF recovery vehicle at Cossington commercial vehicles many moons ago. Had a huge winch wheel underneath if my addled memory serves correctly I saw him do some great feats in the sales yard which was just a muddy field. It was a blast watching this video.
Awesome video guys, so nice of you to help that guy for free. 👍 That Foden is sooo sick! I didn’t realize it was a rotator too. Thanks for sharing! 🇬🇧🇺🇸
Lovely vid as always, best way to end the day in the couch watching your daily upload
So that's what you all do for a living your recovery men and very professionally done big lorries total professionals you would have to be in that game to be able to afford your tank hobbies enjoyed all your videos keep them coming 👍👍👍
Lovely Bridge!
Great Foden Wrecker !
Nice recovery on the frenchy the VW didn’t come off to well did it😳……..I can see why Richard the 3rd didn’t like the area much 😂
Excellent video thanks Joe, Adam and Foden. A very useful team for success, but not a good idea in the rain without the wipers.
Another perfect rescue job.. - very well done, full marks !! ❤
I was amazed at the extreme angle the Foden was able to drag that Frenchie from. A little trimming on the crown of the winch shive, a piece of an old fence under the foot of the outrigger, and the Foden sucked that 6x6 back on to firm soil with little effort. Wow!!
Speed, power and comedy. Brilliant combination 👍😄😁🤣
Interesting looking winch on the back of that French truck hope your friend gets it up and fully running.
makes me wonder why they didn't use it to haul themselves out from a ground anchor.
The cab on the French truck looks like it’s built out of Lego!
If you’d just waved a baguette and a slice of Brie in front of the Frenchie, it would have just followed you home.
The registration plate states that it is an OAS truck. Must be an Algerian truck??
That's just the UK reg, surely
That or they could’ve had a few Germans run at ‘ole Frenchie and I’m sure it would’ve retreated right back into the garage. 😂
Well done. Looked like a Challenge as well as good fun. Fodens' are great mate.
The love Joe has for that old Foden is palpable!
Your Foden is now happy with its new batteries. I'm also using the ZXL tyres on my 1967 Mercedes LA911 Truck, mine are somewhat smaller at 11.00R20.
My Truck was driving too slow, so I dropped out the G32 and replaced it with a ZF S6-36+GV36. Faster on flat but so much better in the hills, not that I have many hills where I'm presently living in Sweden.
Love your channel and great humour.
All the gear and all the ideas great job guys.
Do love that Foden what a beautiful sounding and looking truck. I bet it would make me smile if I got to drive that every day
THE MIGHTY FODEN DOES THE BUSINESS AGAIN AND SAVES A NOT SO MIGHTY BERLIET ❤🎉🎉
i was enjoying it that much i have to say i did not notice any wind on the mic , well done and cheers Hewsey
10:37 just sums it all up in that 1 still image. This is a great channel!
Best piece of kit you own
Great recovery, great vid. Only just started watching your content (tired of the US & Aussie stuff) and amazed at some of the monsters you have. Always loved Foden trucks and that takes the cake, what an awesome beauty! Good on yer and keep it going. Long live the British eccentric! 👍
You done a bloody good job getting that out at those angles, I know only too well how much effort is involved in doing such major missions.
One little tip that I picked up is sometimes when you just need a tiny bit more grip than you can get a bag of cement dust over the tyres can be the difference between success and failure. It’s worth a try if you can find a bag in a shed or unattended on a site!
Richard Hammond aging gracefully 😄
Proper job , great to see the Foden in action , great stuff chapz
Great video, the French wagon looks quite good
Coming up shortly: a "will it start" episode on one slightly dented black VW Golf.
😂
*cabrio.
I think we need a dedicated video of the Foden just driving about to hear its wonderful noise😍
Looks like the Foden is a beast but without skilled and enthusiastic operators it’s just another vehicle. Enjoy watching the crew have productive fun. Thanks.
Why is every stuck vehicle instantly magically attracted to every solid or delicate object in its vicinity?
It's like gravity, can't avoid it.
Adam looks like the kind of guy that you can have an entire conversation with him without him having spoken a single word, his facial expressions more than suffice for speaking. Thanks for another great upload.
He could be the son of that guy in Hot Fuzz with all the guns.
What an awesome piece of kit that Foden is !!! The "Ron Jeremy " of the recovery truck world !!
Yes, I loved the way it’s jib became erect.
Better looking though.
Not many vehicles would have rescued that French truck. Well done guys 👍
That Foden is a beast. A fabulous beast
Many, many years before I discovered your channel, I watched a 40' artic being pulled out of a boggy field sideways by a Foden. It was John Beers of Comber in Northern Ireland. They are incredible machines!
Wind all part of the weather effect. Shows exactly what you were working in. Good job guys in such difficult conditions. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
I swear to Jebus, Brew in hand, sit down, A Mr Hewes Vid. I swear that my Giant Sports Direct mug is a summoning tool for Mr Hewes content XD
Don't drop it lad, got enough flooding round here at the moment.
I didn't think that would come out at that angle ,Well done chaps...
Can I just say, that is a beautiful truck: 17:27 - the colour scheme is excellent.
What a beautiful sound comes out of the motor , beautiful noise
I enjoyed watching you struggle but happy to see the Foden in her element, great video lads
A great episode great too hear you explaining how you are awesome.
That foden sounds amazing 😍😍😍
Excellent recovery. That Foden is such a work horse which made it look easy, togther with a team of professionals plus Adam. Nice job!
Loved the video in spite of the wind noise BUT!!!! I have to mention that I noticed your wiper blades could do with replacing. Your welcome 😎👍
What a marvelous piece of kit that Foden is.
I love that what I see so much.. - I couldn't describe !! ❤❤❤
That Foden is epic! You got any plans to do the other one to match? Would love some more content on upgrades to this beast and what equipment you carry
Sold the green one sadly
I could watch that Foden do it's thing all day long. Great video.
Love your recovery episodes there always fun I a tow truck driver U.S. it's so bizarre you all drive on wrong side of road an your steering wheel on wrong side lol 😅 p.s. it makes it more fun when something break like cable I always carry spares it happens to us all
I have listened to all the politicians talking about war and the possibility of war, and I thought 'nah, won't happen'. Then I saw this. Getting that Berliet out and ready is a worrying sign....
It is French, so it’ll surrender quickly.
@@user-zu6qn9ux9n Boring.
Brilliant job for one of the most wonderful & kindest families I have ever come across. Cheers Joe, Adam & crew.
What a great bit of kit, that Foden is certainly mighty.
Brilliant work. Fantastic use of the mighty Foden
A british wrecker driven by a lad wearing a german tanker coverall recovers a stuck french truck... brilliant! 😃👍🏼
Foden pulling in the French like reeling in a trout on a flatline. Bloody brilliant Foden!!! Nice tractor too!!
Husbands Bosworth... used to live near there. Been in that pub too. There's another Black Horse in Walcote on the other side of HB past the Kilworths. Happy days... miss that part of the world.
Plenty of fab Foden ballet here and some real jeopardy. I was on the edge of my sofa. Seriously though this was a great vid and I really enjoyed it. Well done for getting it done and helping out.
Foden paint job is outstanding! I’m retired now, but this took me back to days offshore when us mech techs did our own rigging. For big jobs the whole team 8-10 of us plus gaffer. 10 tonne electric motors changed out, 6 tonne pumps almost every week. Downside was we couldn’t go to the pub afterwards to bullshit about it 😂 You young guys are inspiring 😉
That was so nostalgic for me. My great uncle John's business used Foden Trucks in the 1950's. John Lawton. Lancashire
OK, a few questions (tongue in cheek):
- Do all farms in England have an an extraordinary amount of junk lying around?
- Does the Berliet not have locking diffs?
- Why not let air out of the tires?
- Is a cup of tea an essential component of any British endeavor?
I think this was just a jolly good excuse to play with all the toys! Magnificent fun was had by all 🙂
