It is said that Tiberious killed Caligula's father, then Caligula was sent to Capri. This is where Caligula spent most of his life before becoming an emperor and this is where he learned how to be a monster.
Caligula was 19 when he was sent to Capri to live with Tiberius, and became emperor six years later - hardly "most of his life", he only spent six years on Capri.
Yes, felt like I was in an earthquake. If you are going to have movement, stay stationary and do a 180 (even 360) degree pan left/right or right/left using a swivel tripod. You will get more detail without the shakiness.
Truly awful things happened there. He used to call the children that he would have sex with in his bath his "minnows". He would also regularly have people thrown to their death off the cliff to the ocean below. Terrible man, awesome historical site.
Cole Tanner...I stood on the spot 45 years ago where they threw them off, it was a sheer drop into the sea with a narrow rocky beach. It was 3-4 hundred feet down.
What a shame that a religion was allowed to deface an ancient treasured villa by dropping a monastery right onto the villa itself, and putting a statue there, too. Who wants to see that? People go to see the historical villa as it is.
Good point! In some ways, it was actually beneficial that a church would take care of a site. An example is the Pantheon being turned into a church in the middle ages, preserving it for us to see to this day, albeit absent the statues that originally stood in the porticoes. My point is that in some ways the churches built on ancient sites actually helped preserve the cultural heritage.
@mausalus09 really? You don't understand what he was saying? Where did he say he wanted it demolished at all? Where was Secularity mentioned? Why are you so angry?
I really enjoyed this walk through time For some reason I've been waiting to see the inside of the Roman Empire wish I could walk with you and just touch those old bricks and get the feel of how they lived.love this video Please do more.I'm sitting here now watching the Romans Empire.Oh be careful on that clif.Mrs P your senior citizen historian. I wonder whether the surrounding trees are two thousand years old or do they die and a fresh ones grow? An ancient tree is like a link to the ancient world and you can touch the same pulse as Tiberius touched. A living link. What a shame tree's cant speak.
Is this person overweight or asthmatic American running for his life from some unknown danger because he (sounds like he is running a marathon) while trying to film the ''what a sight to behold'' while not even looking or even appreciating just making sure to capture in ton camera? It makes me think about tourists who go to a museum making photos of every single item instead of observing it in detail and ending their visit in 30 minutes, kinda sad but for some reason, that's mostly what I see when I travel and make cultural visits. People with cameras basically running stopping only to take a shot of antiquities on display to go to the next one, makes wonder why they even bother if they obviously are not interested. For example, once stood almost 3 hours to enter the Vatican so like hell I'm just running around taking photos and ending the visit in less time than I spend to enter. To think that probably half of that line was the stampida like visitors...
Caligula was raped there as a boy by Tiberius and Tiberius also made Caligula throw kids that angered Tiberius or that he got sick of fucking off the top of that “majestic” peak.
Caligula wasn't even at Capri until he was 19, so...nope on the "raped as a child". And where do you get the idea that it was Caligula throwing anyone off the cliffs?
Historical site yes. Historical depravity by tiberius and caligula. Hundreds of children were tortured, sexually abused and finally murdered within those walls and thrown off the cliffs for their amusement.
Isn't that what a trip to Italy is all about, eating all of that 'good stuff' . I literally had an hour an a half to do the tour and I had to hike up to the top of the mountain in record time and film this video. Once you visit there yourself you'll say that you were breathing even harder! I was at my lightest on this trip at about 180lbs now I am bout 260.
Now that Holy Mary and Jesus statue are found here, this automatically verifies Jesus story. Because this is an obvious evidence and this was like 29 A. D
There were few more religious than Tiberius. It's questionable that the statue at the top of what remains of the Villa (very little) is actually what it claims to be. It's much more like to be a composite of Isis - Artemis. The catholic church does love its false idols (forbidden in the actual bible). The child is unlikely to be Jesus that the pagan idol is holding in her arms. The actual identity of the female statue is closely linked to the vestal virgins (NOTHING to do with Mary); as this was seen as a "convenient" conduit to bring pagan beliefs into the christian fold. But one of the ten commandments of true christianity - FORBIDS creating false idols of any figure. So this statue isn't Mary - it is something else entirely. It exudes a very clear energy of darkness and malovelence and is a tribute to the horrors that occured in the villa Jovis. It is an attempt at memorial and reminder that the pagan gods remain and usurp the true Christ through deception and trickery. But of course they cannot and don't. All they can do is wait to the final day of judgment when they are disposed of - along with the wicked and those who choose evil. And who mock and work against the values of heaven. The child she is holding is an offering to Molech/Baal/Jupiter. As this kind of child murder is the zenith of the pagan offereings to satan. Always has been. Be careful who and what you worship.

I think you may be correct my friend!
Caligula was 19 when he was sent to Capri to live with Tiberius, and became emperor six years later - hardly "most of his life", he only spent six years on Capri.

Thanks for the comment. I appreciate the advice.
You're welcome.
ITS MAJESTICCA. it must have been hard not to imagine all the 10 yr olds Tiberius must have done in front of all those majesticca views
entao foi neste lugar historico que Tiberio se exilou, meu deus como eu queria conhecer este lugar.
Wow incredible... thank you for sharing.
truly, a sight to behold...
Truly awful things happened there. He used to call the children that he would have sex with in his bath his "minnows". He would also regularly have people thrown to their death off the cliff to the ocean below. Terrible man, awesome historical site.
There is only one historical sauce and that was a few generations after Tiberius's reign
He had anyone he wanted thrown into the ocean off the cliffs and enjoyed watching the drama
Cole Tanner...I stood on the spot 45 years ago where they threw them off, it was a sheer drop into the sea with a narrow rocky beach. It was 3-4 hundred feet down.
This thing, especially the high ceiling part, looks like the gymnasium of Roman baths. Picture dark rooms. Small light openings on roof.
Were you running from the pretorian guard ?
I've been laughing for 5 minutes straight this one was funny as hell.
There is 'no way' that podgy Tiberius climbed those steps unaided. He was carried.
Likely. It's a fun hike as there are beautiful homes and views on the way up.
No consideration what's so ever for the breathing, it was torture camera work wasn't so good either
glad you could climb this for us old grannies!

@@breakfastsurreal5650 I should have picked him up on the incorrect use of verses, vs versus too. That would have really shown him 👍😎
@@juniorballs6025 hard to show a brick wall lol
Did Caligula live there with Tiberio?
Yes, as a child and young man.
@@Rand0mFemale No, not as a child. Caligula lived there with Tiberius starting when he was 19, and he became emperor six years later.
It looks hot out there. Was it hot?

Great video. I am very envious.
"Envy is the Cancer of Life". So, don't envy anyone! Do your OWN thing...
I felt like I was right there with you. Read Simon Scarrow’s Day of the Caesar’s to get an idea of what it was like during Nero’s time. Great video.
**STEADY-CAM NEEDED HERE...**
Exercise much dude?

Screw emperor Tiberius - If you are huffing and puffing so much, imagine what the slaves must have gone through, those who carried the blocks to build
The camera motion is making me feel sea sick!
Historical
Jesus christ, stop and enjoy your location for a moment.
The heavy breathing of the narrator is annoying.

It’s ironic that there is a statue of Jesus Christ at the top of Tiberius’ villa.
Caligula killed Emperor Tiberious there 🏛
good but your camera is terrbile man =)
Now that Holy Mary and Jesus statue are found here, this automatically verifies Jesus story. Because this is an obvious evidence and this was like 29 A. D
Because nobody many years later could put a statue somewhere, right? Good grief, don't be so simple.
I think the place was abandoned, because of that damn horrible annoying sound of I don't know what !!!
Unwatchable shaking
A terrible murderer as almost all the roman emperors
This is terrible but nice try anyway
