- In this Screen Tests interview, cover model Karlie Kloss talks about her first ever photoshoot - with photographer Arthur Elgort (father of Ansel Elgort), being a whole foot taller than her prom date, dancing ballet for Carine Roitfeld and why sometimes she really doesn't understand fashion.
Marc Jacobs has named a bag for Kloss.
“Let’s be honest,” says Kloss. “I think it’s the fact that I’m eight inches above the average person walking down the street. I’m somewhat in my own cloud.” At 19, she already knows how to be disarmingly self-deprecating, but yes, let’s be honest, it’s not just her meteorological height that attracts attention. Kloss also happens to have the face of a fairy, with a small constellation of freckles on her right cheek, and the kinetic effervescence of a sprite.
When Kloss was growing up in St. Louis, the discipline of ballet training provided a positive charge for her lightning-bolt limbs. “You learn to control every aspect of your muscles, your face, your toes, your fingernails,” she says. “And that is how you tell a story, through movement.” Her first shoot in New York, at 14, was with Arthur Elgort, who photographed her doing a split on a ballet bar.
She might look like a living line drawing-one encased in custom-made 3x1 pants, the first jeans she’s ever had that actually touch the ground-but it took Kloss a long time to “own it,” she says. “My sisters have always been these gorgeous glamazons, and I’m, like, this tall skinny stick in the family. And I still am the tall girl, even on the runways. Every time I see Karl Lagerfeld, he’s always, like”-she puts on a German accent-“ ‘Karlie, have you stopped growing yet? Are you taller?’ ” She laughs loudly. “It used to be something that I really disliked about myself, being tall and lanky, but it turned out to be the greatest asset I have-how uniquely weird I am.”

So... as much as I enjoy and appreciate all of these videos, not to be too pointed or rude or anything, as I mean this with all due respect... but what exactly is the point of all of this? Where is this going? What exactly do people want with me? For the record, Karlie is smoking hot, she seems to have a cool personality and seems fun, so shes got that covered on the inside. For the pics, it all comes down to whos doing her makeup, I've seen her look really really darn good. but the everyday look she seems to prefer I don't care, and it seems different from the norm. As for the so called attitude. Its usually the sweetest people publicly humiliated as jerks. ppl said the same about Kristin Kreuk one of the sweetest girls you will find.
to all the folks who say shes ugly shes actually pretty hot, the only problem she has with most of her shots is her lack of attention to her lips dunno who does her makeup but they need to be fired. when she fills her lips out with simple makeup techniques omfg she smokes. its like she magically transforms and blends the best of Candice Swanepoel and Kate Moss and would only take like 5 min. I don't think there's anything wrong with her presentation in this video! Yes, some of what she said sounded a tad rehearsed, but come on! She has most likely told 85% of those stories about a hundred times since she is a top mode! She's also a dancer and dancers tend to be more animated than others, just as "Str4wb3rryM00nP13" said. She seems really sweet and I also think she's great since she is/was so studious.
I think that's she's been able to radiate more confidence, compared to her old interview vid when the focus was just her she seemed quiet. At least now she's trying to be lively and entertaining. I think she's just grown up, and perhaps it was forced, but it wasn't like I had to cringe when i watched it. Who are we to know what she is like as a real person? No one is going to show their real demeanor all the time.
1. modeling is not only about being beautiful, you have to have a differential from others, so being pretty is not enough. 2. why do you think there are so many models? because beauty doesn't mean the same thing to all people. so, she may not look pretty to you, but you don't get to choose who you want to be successful in the business 3. she is the model of the moment right now, so she'll get interviews and covers more than others. DEAL WITH IT.

Everybody hating her is just perception, not everybody hates her. Its just the trend these days to rip on any female model or not, around 5'9" and 120 to 130lbs. Why do some people do that? Because they don't respect anything, and its jealousy pretty much.
she was discovered at 13 at a charity show, so from then on she got signed onto a agency duh, that's how she booked jobs, how any model gets interviews and shows anyway, and from then on she got more famous, because of her catwalk and unconventional beauty.
