Nothing hits quite like hearing someone describe the process of picking up, putting down, stalling on, scrapping, reworking, pausing again, and continuing to come back to a story☺️
When she hit 20k, I realized that I’m almost there in my novel. I’m putting an intensely long paragraph into Wordtune, but it’ll take a while because it’s over 280 characters. You have given me motivation to write, and I’m finally at 14,699 words. Edit: Now I’m at 16,500 words! Edit 2: Hit 20k yesterday, and today I’m almost done knitting a blanket!

I hit over 52.000 words in my novel but i'm dealing with a 'middle part is boring to write, i wanna get to the end.' situation. This video gave me some motivation to complete it.
What can be better than a 22 mins video 💛💛🌼 I love love your vlogs ,I wait for them so eagerly they bring me peace 💛 thank you so much. Please take care💛
Thanks for this vlog - it’s very motivating. I’m a teacher, so spend most of my evenings and weekends either marking, planning lessons or looking after my toddler son, so I really need to try to use the rare moments of free time I have efficiently. Recently that’s been listening to podcasts or audiobooks when driving - that’s about the only free time I have! For the last year and a half or so I’ve just felt too tired once I’ve got work done and got the little one to sleep (if I’ve even managed!) I might try some work sprints for myself. If I have half an hour to myself I want to get some writing done. No excuses - I have to make time to write! 🙂
Your vlogs are hands down the best on the freaking internet, Christy. I know I say this on literally every video but man oh man...they're just the greatest! Have a lovely day. Seeing you write is just so exciting!!!!
I’m really glad I’m not the only one who has issues with the big bones of a story!! Prettying it up may never feel perfect but I feel like I’m better at it. It’s so good to hear you talk about the process!
Thank you for pulling back the curtain on what it is like to really try to get words down on paper. The starts, stops, highs and lows. I am just now getting around to working on a novel that I've been putting off for YEARS and this video has made the idea of jumping back in far less stressful.
You have a lovely cozy UA-cam channel and is so inspiring ❤ I wasn’t sure as an upcoming author how to tackle the concept of a channel and you with couple others have shown me a form of how you can vlog yourself for the world of writing. and its always lovely to see other authors going through their process 🎉
rain in adelaide for long periods of time is so rare that it makes it all the more special! nothing is better then reading with a cup of tea and the sound of rain in the background xx
I kept nodding my head when you spoke about focusing on the structure of a story before focusing on the language. I am someone who obsesses over language, especially grammar and punctuation. But this isn't story. As a result, I too was in the doldrums for years with a great story concept and a crap plot. Only recently have I shown some humility and decided to focus on structure. I still think that my strength will always lie in language but at least I have learned that if the structure isn't sound, everything will collapse. It's great to see you working on another novel. I enjoyed this video!
Also, hearing you, or any people really, talk about writing a novel gives me an itch to try it as well. It's good that you admit you've sat with your idea for two years before strart writing in earnest, because, woah, that actually sounds realistic. Patience, girl, (and persistence) is what I need to remind myself of. Girl being me.
Writing novels is such a difficult task, especially when you want to publish it. I'm currently working on my first actual novel that I plan to publish in the future and it's much more daunting than the novels I write for my own pleasure/reading. I started the novel by planning it all out on sticky notes so I had a basis for each chapter. When I feel stuck on a certain chapter, I go to a chapter that I instead know well, then it gives me the chance to write more and eventually look back on what I have already written to fix the smaller details. Super fun and frustrating project but it will surely be worth the struggle! I enjoyed watching your video and seeing that I am not alone in procrastinating or struggling to get past certain blocks.
I never thought about writing in a way that is not linear, thank you so much for this comment!

I just love to feel part of this. That's exactly how we feel just by watching you talk about it. Like talk with a friend about her news and her routine 😻💖
Really love your videos, Christy. The style of your dressing reminds me of many a quiet winter day, and the way you speak is such a cure. As a 20-year-old student, I am also thinking about a novel, and your videos are absolutely inspiring. It feels like you are talking to me face to face in real life.
First of your videos I've watched, the vibe and atmosphere is lovely. When you started making tea at the start, I sat back for a bit and drank some water and it was honestly a lovely chance to breathe in a busy day :)
I just found your account yesterday! I finally think I have the foundation to write my first book! I came up with the original idea in 2021, but I haven't written narratively since 2012 so I've gradually stretched my writing and idea-creating muscles :) Your videos are so relaxing and inspiring and I LOVE your accent :) I can't wait to watch more of your channel as I write my first complete draft!
This video and the editing is so beautifully done, and you seem like such a lovely person! This was such a fun video to watch! I'm super glad I found your channel, and I can't wait to watch more videos! Hope you have a lovely day! 💛
I just followed you. Your writing routines accidentally drew me in a few days ago. Very cozy words and style 💛🧡 and the casual way you wove your project into the challenges plus mentioning that it feeds off of the vibes of Dorian Grey actually makes me want to behave out-of-character and read an adult fantasy novel, to see what it's about, and with all the work you've put into it. Saw in a video title that you finished it - congratulations! Good luck with the getting-it-out-into-the-world-part 🍀🍀🍀
Idk how I’ve come across this video but I’m so glad I have. When I was younger it was my dream to be an author. Thankyou for reminding me of this dream, feeling very nostalgic💕. Luckily I am following my other dream career, so not a sob story!
I remember I use to be so excited to come home from school and write whatever story I was working on at that time. In high school I actually managed to plan a trilogy, and finished writing 2/3 of those books! It was a big part of my life, Thankyou for making sure I don’t forget it.
I find the start of the story is the hardest part for me, because it's the part that's going to pull in the reader. I always seem to know how it ends, but it's figuring out how to get that that's the challenge :)
I am only 19 minutes in and I love your personality! I'm writing my novel at the moment. I might do a little blog of my process soon. I've already done a little blog of my favorite books that I love to read. I'll be watching the rest of this and don't worry, I'm like that too. But you do what you love to do.
I’m so happy to have found your page. I am a newbie writer, writing my first novel I haven’t even been able to start my first chapter I can’t get out of outlining 😅. I really think I’m overthinking a lot. But any tips for newbie writers are appreciated!

What program do you write on? I'm using google docs but I don't like it because it doesn't want me to put much more than 3,000 words per document and it doesn't have an organizational system. So I've got tons of docs just labeled "One," ''Two," "Three," etc. But it is free, so that's good.

You should make a video on how to get started on a novel.
I usually use the search and replace tool for changing names cuz I change them every month lol. Just click on replace all.
Where is this tool there?
Wonderful ☺️
What program do you write on? I'm using google docs but I don't like it because it doesn't want me to put much more than 3,000 words per document and it doesn't have an organizational system. So I've got tons of docs just labeled "One," ''Two," "Three," etc. But it is free, so that's good.
I have a Google doc with 12,000+ words, why is it only letting you have around 3,000?
@@ovenbird1253 it gives me a popup that says "can't detect more grammar errors, text is too long" and each time I type more, the pop-up comes back and gets in the way so I can't see what I'm typing
@@ovenbird1253 hoohoo I think I fixed it! I had to go into my phone settings and turn off this suggestive text thing for Google docs and drive.
@@kaitlin2539 ah ok that makes sense, I'm glad you fixed it
Scrivener has a good reputation esp. for scriptwriting.
where did you get you ginko leaf necklace??? 💛❔
What lipstick are you wearing? Looks very flattering on you! x
Great vlog
