I have to say this scares me especially when i list jewelry. I love costume jewelry and i try to learn what i can..but listening to your program means i have to be more cautious.😮
I am learning so much from this, I've watched a couple more of your videos. I am new with jewelry, never really was into it until my mother-in-law left me a whole tub of it. Some I know is costume, some is real gold and silver, And some I have absolutely no idea. I have a lot of pieces that have absolutely no information anywhere on them. Some of them feel and look like they could be worth a lot of money, but I don't know how to tell real from fake, That's why I'm trying to watch your videos. Determining real gems from fake ones has been a struggle. I've watched videos on how to tell and I still haven't trouble with it. Same with gold and silver. I've tried the test with foundation wiping the gold to see if it tarnishes, however there's a lot of pieces I'm not able to do this with. Are there any other pointers that you could give me that you didn't really go into when this video that couldn't help me determine whether it is junk metal and gems, from the real ones? I do know she didn't have that much money. My mother and father-in-law are both deceased, they were English professors, but also struggled with money. I don't believe a lot of this jewelry is going to be worth too much, but I have found some that has been real gold and silver. If you have a video that helps determine the gems and metals, would it be too much to point those out for me so I could watch them?
Distinguishing between gems takes time and lots of looking and feeling jewelry. It might be a video I could do in the future. You can get acid tests to test for gold and silver. A strong magnet will give you an idea as well. I appreciate you watching and good luck with your inherited jewelry.

Describe as well as you can and take LOTS of close-up pictures. Let the customer decide. Forget being afraid, just enjoy sharing your finds.
