Didn't get to really watch this at all Sunday, and I've been saturated in media coverage of it since then. Finally have a moment to sit down and watch it.
I rarely rewatch races from the current year especially right after but this one was a must. One of the best nascar shorttrack races ever

Strategy element is what will make this largely spec series go big. And Goodyear using last year's tires on the supplementary set is interesting.

If someone spins, hits nothing, and keeps driving, why do they need to bring out the caution?
It's usually for the safety of the drivers. If someone spins out and doesn't crash they could still cause a big accident if some of the other drivers don't notice and have to swerve around them, or the driver could get hit while stationary at high speeds. The drivers are pretty well-protected these days so I doubt any major injuries would come of it at Bristol, but these cars also cost the team owners $300k+ each, so they try to avoid major accidents like that when they can by calling the caution flag.

With such aggressive tire wear throughout the field, I would be remiss to assume it's entirely on Goodyear where this falls into a 'no warranty is implied' kind of thing. It might be possible to run x number of laps and have normal tire wear in a test situation, but how often does that mimic real world use. I would almost wonder if the production schedule called for a soft compound for treaded dirt tires, but only the tread was nixxed for running on concrete this year rather than evaluating the full tire compound. The track not rubbering up is also part of that perfect storm X factor.
Then again, I'm bound by nature to overthink these things...

They weren't racing , it was a tire test .
I didn't know what to expect until the last 2 pitstops.. it was certain that hamlin was winning.. however much i hate hamlin to the core, he really did pull of a great race at the end.. this was a great race.. worth waking up at night to watch the whole of it

The Fall Bristol night race used to always sell out. Not sure if that even happens now. We shall see. Daytona removed all the backstretch seats in order to sell out tickets. Bristol hasn't removed seats yet I am guessing.

What gives? It used to be that the only reason that Bristol seats were empty during a race was because everyone was standing for some reason or another standing or taking a rest room & concession break.

I tried, but this sucks. All the same car? Stock car is more entertaining, no more.
Dashboard should have car # and brand sticker so the in car cam let's us know who we're riding with. Trying to chase .coms and emblems is very annoying.
