If I saw Wayne Krantz playing in a small bar/pub I'd lose my mind. Amazing. His tone, time feel, harmonic sense are out of this world. Thanks for posting!
Sadly, the place you could have seen him - 55 Bar NYC, seen here - closed in the pandemic. I'm soon to go back for the first time since it closed. I've been going there for 20 years, I don't know whether I'll cope.
This is all I love in music or art for that matter. Freedom, intelligence, playfulness, boldness, humor, abstraction...and that visceral sound. What a groove. Oh man!
Back in the early naughties I saw wayne many times in intimate settings as he used to come to South Wales in the UK. We got to know Wayne and will forever cherish those gigs. In fact at one at a Hotel at the Brecon Jazz Festival, he was playing in a ballroom with the double doors open behind the band to reveal the rolling Brecon mountains as the sun was setting, it was spiritual man! And congrats to Evan for always innovating, and for playing with two of my heroes, Wayne and the late great Allan H.
I come regularly back to this video, obviously because of Waynes magic and the joy this song gives. But another important joy giving reason is the reverse cap, blue shirt dude in the back vibin so real and sympathical. Love it!
I’ve been playing with lots of drummers lately, jam nights, open mikes, etc. nothing make me appreciate a drummer who’s time is SPOT on (like Cliff) than playing with substandard time keepers…
Trying to figure out what my dosage cocktail would be for hearing this live. More fun to play than listen to for me, but that's my problrm lol. Question: Is music always just a little bit like watching peeps rub one out in public? Hmmmm. Anyhoo, thanks for posting --- just discovered Wayne so I say "rave on brotha!" way cool! -- Cheers to all! :)

@@johnlyon326 Yeah it's sad but I trust you will carry the fire. Thanks for the update!
@@johnlyon326I’ve been going to the 55 since 1996. I’m heartbroken. I can’t believe NYC didn’t protect that club given its history. What a shame.
RIP 55 Bar

Evan Marien, the bass player, is a genius...period!!!

Wow. From there myself, would have loved to see those shows…
Krantz is one of the most unique and original players EVER !!!!
Love that drummer! Great touch.

He's saying "Hell yeah, brother" to himself
@ 😂👍
Yeeeahhh! Wayne is gold! The bassplayer is great!!!! Uow!
And that’s how you own your style!
Really like that drummer!
Yeah, his more groove... then a lot of the other drummers I’ve heard with Wayne...
Watched this video about 500 times in the past week. Can't get over 5:15 - 6:15. Incredible interplay between these guys
Me too. I usually just listen while I’m driving or doing stuff. Incredible.
That guitar solo kills me. Long live the blues. He wins the dive bar like Coltrane
Are you a fan or not? Hard to tell from this comment, but I THINK you mean the solo kills you in a good way, as it should!
a bass solo! Great tone and great solo.
Man, Wayne is on fire here
The guy in the back with the cap is enjoying it ...BiG time ....!!!
Totally, eh?
Must confess I have checked this clip out hundred times. That is the best dive bar guitar solo in history ! Like a gift. Wish I was there
You said it!!!
Yeah, also wish it hadn’t closed…

Cliff Almond is amazing !!! Thank you for sharing
At the 55 Bar in NYC. What a great place to see someone like this.
that drummer has that unstoppable keith carlock groove
Que increíble como genera toda una atmósfera solo con su violita alto maestro
I went to NYC. I played in punk bands and loved it. These guys are real cool.
And a tip of the hat to Tracey. She puts up some wonderful videos of NY music, not least her own. Check out the rest of her channel sometime.
Dahy yummmm! I LOVE THIS!!!!
Great video! I used to be in NYC regularly and would catch Wayne at the 55 Bar. Really missing this now
God Damm it. Sounds like a volcano. POWERFUL AND SPIRITUAL 🙏
That was wicked...incredible...wow
Wayne Krantz is f*****g amazing
Marvelous music. Thank you

Massive band.

Thanks for sharing.
Close quarters!!
Oh man- I thought that looked like 55 Bar. So cool.
I love it.
Wonderful drumming -- elastic and loosy-goosy in a good very good way.
monster drumming here
Swear this bassist was touring with Holdsworth at one point.
indeed! he works with virgil donati and got invited to play on allan's final run of shows...
Also pat metheny. He’s the real deal.
Thanks for posting this. Incredible. Must have been insane to be in the room
what an awesome trio
Why the hell isn’t Krantz touring all the major jazz festivals every Summer!? On main stage!?
Way too heavy for the trad jazz cats.
@@School-xo1dn Coltrane was 🐼💀🐼
Where can you go in NY now to find music with this energy and beautiful dissonance?
dayummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....
Nice bass player
It’s weird to hear such an epic performance followed by golf claps.
Yes...THAT!😎❤
Just saw Wayne in Denver with Tim! I didn't know he was hardly taller than that strat, especially since Tim is like 7 ft tall!!
No prisoners Wayne!!!!!!
Epic So inspiring Thank You!
Sickkkkkkkkk. How the hell is that lady yawning 😂😂
Love love love - I've missed you. I'm that guy who said he'd forgotten your name. Thanks for your approach to it all.
Miss 55
Greeeeat as always!!
i luv w.k so fucking amazing...
kurifu!!🥁❤
If you thumbs down this you're wrong. Simply stated.
At the beginning they had no idea what that delayed notes were about, until the grooves kicked in, you all smile rightttttt
Cliff Almond: Thomas Lang's American Alter-ego
notable originalidad
The girlfriend of whoever... front and center, fighting back a yawn...🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yeah, "They told me this guy is really good or something."
😮😮🤣🤣
Holy Moly
Imagine a jam session with Wayne and Guthrie!!
Makes me sad seeing one member of the audience not digging it.
the dude with the backwardss hat yoooooooo
great hang!! great vibe wow
I don't know how Cliff plays like that. There's so much elbow going on.
Someone needs to make Thom aware of this
not regular music for sure

It looks like Ethan Hawke is behind Wayne, is that just my imagination?😂
Krantz has the lag.
I'm sorry in advance but why doesn't black swan off the record sound anything like this song?
this was ok, but you had to see him play with the Dan
The drummer is carrying them
7:35 woman in the white coat, I feel ya. I love WK, but it does get tedious
and then they all got covid
christ
7:32 ... she should have gone home and done something she enjoyed.
chick yawns 0734. haha
Lady in the back doesn’t really like it😂
In fact… at 6.38 she is yawning. In the very crescendo of it all.
MUCHO RUIDO...
it's not music it's fuss but great drummer
Don’t let the door hit you on the way out, guy.
