The soil into which spirituality from the East was planted was not so rich in the early days. In India, everyone believes in reincarnation and sees life from that perspective. In the West words like “Guru”, “devotion” and “surrender” have a hard time being digested. Most of the people who are Saints in India would be hospitalized in the West. Now there seems to be a shift where we can honor these traditions in a way that does not water them down.

@@raoulduke8720 you see, the thing about a method is that, for a method to work, it has to trap you. If you try to dilettante your way through, it doesn’t work. You’ve got to become “a meditator.” But if you end up “a meditator,” you lost. You want to end up free, not a meditator. There are a lot of people who just end up meditators. “I’ve meditated for 42 years!” And they look at you with intense… with earnestness, you know? It’s the golden chain of righteousness that caught them again. But a method must trap you.
And then, finally, if it works, it self-destructs and you come through the other end, and you’re free of method. That’s what Ramakrishna’s Gospel of Ramakrishna is so wonderful about, because he just went through Kali worship and then came out, and then started to explore all the other methods. Because once you come through your method, all methods lead you to the same thing -ram dass

My life would be different growing up with the belief in reincarnation... years of being considered the weird one in the family and questioning my sanity and then understanding its common knowledge in East.
It is really like going out of "Your🧠Mind", 🤔then into "The Mind". Mind Yore Self😅!

Are there not some saints in india that truly should be hospitalized?
Are there not people there considered holy, who are truly sexual deviants and scammers? I hear this is a real problem, and leads me to believe this is the reason the guru is largely disfollowed here. We dont believe people are inherently good. We expect people to be bad before we expect them to be good. That allows us to find the bad ones first, and acknowledge them. Goodness is not something to be expected from the average human animal in the west.
