I was having a problem with the FFT and IFFT. Do you apply IFFT to sub carrier 1 then sub carrier 2? Or do you apply it to the first qam symbol on each sub carrier then the second QAM symbol on each sub carrier?
IFFT is applied to the whole data vector containing N number of QAM symbols. If we assume the data vector is represented by "x", and the IFFT operation is denoted by "F", then the output data vector is this (y = F * x). Note that the dimension of x and y is N by 1, and the dimension of F is N by N. Salam Prof. Hamarmreh, thank you for the very helpful tutorial. I have a question regarding the computation of the signal power for the noise variance computation. Why do we need it if the average signal power before the IFFT is 1 ? I am trying to relate it to the signal carrier simulation, I don't need to measure the power in the simulation as I know the average is 1.
Yes, but it is recommended to do so in order to take into consideration the effect of any precoding, pre-equalization, or filtering method applied to the signal before its transmission.
Both are good, but if you are doing research and want to create and test new methods and techniques, it would be better to use MATLAB. If you need more help, I would be more than happy to help after you book a call with me at researcherstore.com/product/book-an-appointment-with-prof-jehad-m-hamamreh/
