One cannot practice on patients without a license outside school. When in dental school, students practice under supervision from professor dentist doctors. You will have to work with the DDS candidates and faculty in your residency dental school to get an idea. It's a tricky situation.
So after DPH and license exam, you can work as a general dentist? But you don't get any clinical exposure while you are doing DPH right? It is mostly research I thought!
Hey Komal, DPH opens a wider level of job options in clinical as well as non clinical fields. Where as MPH, MHA will open up opportunities in non clinical fields. So it depends on your interests.
Thanks for the feedback. It's hard to get better audio for online interviews. I will keep it in mind for the future. However at present if you watch the video along with the phone speakers or on your TV it sounds much better and might be helpful.

Hey Tanvi Kaur, we discussed your doubts. Thank you for raising these genuine questions. 1. One can appear for DPH American board exam and can be taken any time after you complete the program. Even after 1-2 yrs. 2.Expected median salary, can be different e.g. a salary of dph graduate working as researcher, or as a professor in dental school..it could be someone with clinical license, or someone working at a state level.. so it can have a very wide range from $80k-125k 😊. You can just Google these options to get an individual idea.

Thanks Shruti. Q1:Yes. Q2: no DDS. But still have to do licensure exams and requirements which will include INBDE. All states may not allow. You have to check individual state board websites to confirm.

A good interview but I think you could have eliminated the background sound. It interfered with the sound from your guest. I was struggling to hear.

You will have to check that with the North Carolina state licensure website Maryam 😊. Sometimes rules change for other states every few years.

I feel you need to do MPH before DPH since it is a masters program. Dental Hygiene isn't considered a masters program unfortunately.
