A truly timeless piece of music. Hard to believe it was released in the 90's! It's not aged a day! There's not many artists who could have ever mixed these different musical styles and pulled off a good track! The Prodigy did it and also gave us this truly unique video to boot! A classic. We miss you Keith! x
It’s testament to how good The Prodigy were that 23 years after this was released it still sounds as fresh as when it first came out. I know Liam was very much behind the actual music production of the band, but Keith was the performer - he was the one you came to see and couldn’t take your eyes off. So much energy. So intimidating. I can still remember how shitscared I was seeing the Firestarter music video as a kid. Was absolutely 100% certain that this raving lunatic dancing around some abandoned tunnel was staring into my soul and getting ready to kill me. Away from the performing side of things, seems like Keith was, by all accounts, a gentle, kind and sensitive man. It’s sad that his life ended the way it did. RIP
My friend met him about 15 years ago after a gig. She said he was one of the nicest people she's ever met. Proof we should never judge a book by its cover. RIP x
Scott Charney you’re right, he wasn’t the only performer - Maxim had big presence, as can be seen in this video and there was also Leeroy Thornhill, who was a great dancer, especially for a man about 7 foot tall. All of them made contributions towards the music as well. But when people think of The Prodigy, the first image most of them will have is of Keith Flint staring menacingly at the viewer in the Firestarter video. He was the absolute personification of the music - intense, disturbing, unhinged. As the lyric goes - “danger illustrated”. I can’t really see how the band will continue now, which is a shame for people who never got to see them live, but Keith has left too big a gap.

Breathe and Firestarter are my two favorite Prodigy songs. I just turned 55 and first heard the Prodigy with "Charly" in 1992. Those were the best times of my life. Kids today will never know
i’m 43 more into metal and like heavy shit, death metal, death core, etc. but I enjoy some more modern stuff and even classics that have a certain thing about them. I enjoy this song quite a bit. Much like I do Cash’s rendition of Hurt.

Man I'll NEVER forget the night they first played this on Mtv's Head Bangers Ball. I was staying over at my buddies house and we both pretty much stood there open jawed in amazement. The words on the screen at the end really drove it home. Fan for life
Isn't it crazy how this song was released years ago, but it sounds modern and the video is a fucking masterpiece as well, so well done. What a genius band!
I dont think Liam gets enough credit for his work. He was truly ahead of his time with his sounds and you can hear them in every song. I remember listening the lost tapes or something and they sound even better than the released songs on album because their pure rawness.
Absolutely. On so many levels. Still devastated Keith succumbed. He was an incredible light beyond his image. He at least didn't have to witness the current world of hurt.
I remember this video to be such a big thing to me. My father was an alcoholic. We lived together just the two of us. Once a week my father went to the sauna for an hour and left me alone. That’s when I would watch my VHS and this one of the videos I would play over and over again. It was a way of getting my anger out.
I’m 22 years old as of right now. Grew up listening to prodigy. When people used to ask my name I used to say “PSYCHOOOO”. I blame flint to this day, and I’m proud of it.
I truly miss Keith, he kept my head above water when I felt as if I was drowning. I will still have his music to keep me going but for someone who used his music to keep suicidal thoughts away, knowing that he gave in makes it hard. He was someone special for me. Like they say, headstones are for the broken hearted. Keeps people going. 🖤🖤
Rest in peace Keith Flint, September 17th 1969 - March 4th 2019. We grew up with your music and we'll most likely die still listening to it. You'll be missed, buddy.

One of my best childhood memories is of my dad playing this absolute banger for me and me going insane and dancing around like a maniac. It was like a transcendent experience, the beat just hooked me in. He died suddenly a short time after in 1999, when I was seven. He imbued in me a love of great music from a young age. ❤️

Why did he die???????????????
RIP Keith, your songs made my childhood, teenhood and adulthood badass
RIP Keith, he was a visionary... This particular song is more than 20 years old... good times.
Timeless.
Music & Visuals.
Absolutely Mindblowing.

RIP 90s. This country has gotten rapidly worse since 2000.

Yes indeed!!!
As a person who listened when these guys first came out, you are exactly right!
Indeed
Absolutely. On so many levels. Still devastated Keith succumbed. He was an incredible light beyond his image. He at least didn't have to witness the current world of hurt.
Spot on! My fave band and had the pleasure of seeing them live, that's when they are at there best, mind blowing
I’m 50 years old and this was one of my favorite bands in the 90’s ! 🔥
I remember this video to be such a big thing to me. My father was an alcoholic. We lived together just the two of us. Once a week my father went to the sauna for an hour and left me alone. That’s when I would watch my VHS and this one of the videos I would play over and over again. It was a way of getting my anger out.
That's awesome. Breathe with me
Мне вас жаль. Мой отец тоже алкаш ☹️
Is your father still with us? I worry about someone. They won't stop. No matter what.
Сложное у тебя было детство, сочувствую.
Sorry.
Crazy how fresh this still sounds. Could've been made yesterday
Great stuff, but owes a huge debt to punk and the Pistols
I don’t think it sounds fresh, I think that’s why I like it more abit of nostalgia :)
YEAAAAH 🤘😝
Same with Aphex Twin.
Wait it wasn’t made yesterday, thought it was :/

I truly miss Keith, he kept my head above water when I felt as if I was drowning. I will still have his music to keep me going but for someone who used his music to keep suicidal thoughts away, knowing that he gave in makes it hard. He was someone special for me. Like they say, headstones are for the broken hearted. Keeps people going. 🖤🖤
Omg.... Piece of my youth just gone... Amazing artist way ahead of his time, thanks for the memories mate.

One of my best childhood memories is of my dad playing this absolute banger for me and me going insane and dancing around like a maniac. It was like a transcendent experience, the beat just hooked me in. He died suddenly a short time after in 1999, when I was seven. He imbued in me a love of great music from a young age. ❤️
Sorry to hear that. I hope you're doing well.
