Try this one out mate.....North trade pick 11 to Port in 2018 knowing they would have to match for Tarryn Thomas, and pick up Polec & Pittard in the process. All three have now gone and this draft was further impacted by Nick Blakey choosing Sydney over North........BUT.......that's not all...........Port traded up pick 11 with Freo for pick 5 and took.......🥁🥁🥁........Connor Rozee!
No wonder North has been rebuilding for years
You can add in from that year the Port / Hawks trade which saw Wingard move to the Hawks for 15, 35 and Ryan Burton.
Freo's pick 6 from the previous North trade saw Port package 6 with 35 to get 5 along with Sam Mayes from Brisbane. Pick 15 ended up getting Port Xavier Duursma and since the trade Burton arguably has had a better career then Wingard has had at the Hawks
Dayne Beams for Jack Crisp, Pick 5 (Jordan De Goey) and Pick 25 (traded for Levi Greenwood)
Another one from Carlton's perspective: Heath Scotland for pick 35 (Brent Hall) in 2003. Scotland played 215 games, winning a best and fairest and making the AA squad. Hall played one game for the Pies.
Another could be the Chad Wingard trade and port got rozee and butters out of that
That and the trade for jaegar o mearea for a first
Dangerfield trade turned out lopsided but keep in mind that Dangerfield was a free agent. I think the Cats are about the only club to trade for free agents (Dangerfield & Cameron).
It was either trade or blow up their Salary Cap.
Dangerfield wasn't going to seriously consider any offer other than Geelong. Still he did 8 years playing footy for Adelaide.
Yes fair point. Danger was an U18s player from Geelong Falcons and was always keen to return. And It's not like Adelaide didn't get value, he played 150 games for them.
A RESTRICTED free agent. He had to be traded for, as Adelaide could match Geelong’s contract offer. Adelaide folded but I think they didn’t want to make it difficult for Dangerfield.
It’s funny how the hawks dynasty was heavily based on the one sided trades in the early 2000’s. As a hawks fan though, I’m quite happy to lose Luke McPharlin for those other good players and premierships.
Imagine if they picked Joel Selwood in 2006 with pick 6, Geelong took him at7. Would have been hodge, Mitchell, Selwood, Franklin and Roughead all in Same side 2007-2012
Also helped that the Hawks were such a Shit side that they were handed a Priority Pick that netted them Roughhead, and that Richmond were so Dumb they took Tambling instead of Franklin.
Bryce Gibbs to the Crows for 2 first rounders was a pretty bad one for Adelaide. I think JHF to Port is looking like an absolute steal, North didn't have a lot of choice but they should have made Port give up more than they did.
Yes, North effectively traded # 1 (2021) and # 1 (2022) for # 3, #4 (2022) and #20 (2023). Given that they may well have picked Sheezel at # 1, we will see if JHF is the equivalent of Wardlaw and Goad combined.
Solid video mate just a heads up for the teams, you wouldn't want to pick any expansion teams like gws, gold coast, or even the crows. Some teams have really interesting long history such as Carlton, Collingwood, essondon, Port Adelaide. So freo is an alright pick, but they don't do a lot in finals. Go the power
The Jordan Dawson trade was pretty one sided too, Dawson to Adelaide (our best player currently and captain) for a 2022 first rounder (which ended up being Jacob Konstanty) worked pretty well for us
What about the biggest trade of 2013? Buddy to Sydney
Carey & Longmire for $50K would be hard to top.
Nice video again. Possible long term project/ video idea could be ranking all first round drafts classes from 1990 to 2015 or so, based on quantity and quality of performances the players made. Obviously would be a difficult video but an interesting one nonetheless
Sauce Jacobs also got a bunch of showdown medals. Very underrated ruckman 💪
Those showdown medals are highly prestigious
@@rusco6666 sure is for a ruckman.. no difference to any other awards like the Anzac day medal. Lighten up :)
@@OverconfidentCromSupporter 🤣
One that gets overlooked is the Shannon Grant/Wayne Schwass trade. I wouldn’t say Schwass was a bad pickup since he played nearly 100 games and won a B&F along with an AA blazer, but North got over 240 games from Grant, and he was a crucial member of the 99 premiership team winning the Normy. From both men combined Sydney got 156 combined games, along with 95 goals over 8 years. North got 427 games, and 420 goals over 20 years, and 2 B&F seasons from Schwass before he left.
2019 the crom traded pick 4 Lachie Ash to GWS in exchange for pick 6 Fischer mcassay with Ash poised to make all Australian on current form and mcassy retired
How about the Essendon, Fremantle trade? Essendon give Tony Delaney, Todd Ridley and Dale Kickett for picks that got them Matthew Lloyd and Scott Lucas
I was surprised the Essendon Fremantle trade for Matthew Lloyd wasn't on here i can't remember the exact trade but im sure Essendon won it easily
Dangerfield was a restricted free agent.
So for Adelaide it was match and get something for him or dont match and get nothing for him.
Not really a trade in the real sense of being 'one-sided'. It was take this crap offer or get nothing.
Well they wouldn't of got nothing they would've got first round compensation..they matched the offer to save face
@@rhino2340 and yet the draft pick they got was better than first round compensation.
Doesn't change the fact that it wasn't a traditional trade scenario.
Fremantle have a long history of making the worst trades possible. Surprised Peter Bell didn't make this list, he is possibly the STUPIDEST example of a club having their head up their arse. They traded him off because he was "too small", he went to the roos and dominated in a successful team, then when he was nearing the back end of his career, they got him back and paid the earth for him
Fabulous video, some stunning trades where you must of been scratching your head
Crom faithful can't be mad at danger for all he gave the club while he was there. that last season he won the b&f giving his best on the way out
In isolation some trades look one sided but when you look at the bigger picture then it does not always seem the same.
As a Hawks fan, I was not pleased that we traded Josh Kennedy. But it is hard to say it was a bad decision with what panned out over the term of his senior career. While he was getting AA and captain of the Swans, the Hawks won three flags, with Stratton and Suckling key parts of that team, a team that did not lack midfield stars.
Missed the Delidio trade where richmond got Prestia Nankervis and Caddy i believe
Chris Judd for Josh Kennedy. Eagles made out like bandits, Judd went from unstoppable god to average mid, Kennedy kicked 800 goals and won a flag.
Not too many "average mids" win Brownlow medals.
That deal was a win/win.
@Burningthunder90 I don't subscribe to the notion that every trade must have one winner and one loser (some do). Judd was exactly what Carlton needed at the time as a mid, as a captain and as a "marquee" player for their supporters and marketing team.
There is obviously not doubt that Kennedy had a big impact for longer than Judd after that trade and will go down as a club legend, that does not make it a loss for Carlton.
@Burningthunder90 Including Judd improved Carlton. If you disagree with that then I think you are just wrong. If you agree then I don't know how you can consider a trade that improved them as a loss.
To call it a loss for Carlton you have to make so many assumptions, some that are just unfalsifiable and you are ignoring what Carlton wanted out of the trade. Carlton got immediate impact on the field, (a Brownlow winner) with leadership (Captain in his first year at the blues) and financial gain (they signed 15k extra members the next year) by trading in a known quantity. That is a win.
You are also assuming that had they kept Kennedy that he would have kicked 700+ goals in 250+ games for them as well. That is un-knowable. All we know is that the trade helped Carlton and it helped WC. That is the definition of a win/win.
Kennedy was a great player. But it’s hardly one-sided when you consider Stratton got 3 premierships and captained our club, and Suckling got 2.
Meanwhile, Kennedy only got the one and McGlynn was unlucky to miss out through injury.
McGlynn wouldn't have played a game for Hawthorn with a small forwards and i'm taking Stratton and Suckling over Kennedy. Only reason Hawthorn supporter moan about the trade is the father son selection.
The lachie Weller deal isn’t as bad as people say, the 2017 draft was a crap shoot, and it’s highly unlikely they would have drafted Brayshaw with their selection. Additionally, they were also able to get the pick that they used on Charlie Ballard who has been good for them
I know Ty Vickery wasnt a trade but he has got be one of the worst free agent signings oat
Ummmm what about the Lloyd and Lucas trades from Fremantle for Delaney, Dale Kickett and Ridley. Probably the most one sided trade ever.
The Eagles giving up all their trade picks for Tim Kelly
I hate sooks who want to go home, cry me a river, in other sport's players go to differsnt countries for their whole careers. In AFL: i miss my mummy
As a crows supporter, I can say that most crows supporters don’t like Dangerfield anymore
And as a Geelong fan I absolutely love him
Tim Kelly. Thanks West Coast.
The things I would do to have Cooper Stephens instead of Tim Kelly on our list maaaan
Andrew brayshore is a gun player
James Kelly ain't one
Kurt .tippett was a definite bust
Stole from Kaleen
Luke.Mcphalan is the third greatest player to ever play for the Dockers.
Would Hodge be a multiple premiership player at the Dockers?
Sorry, this is a really lazy video.
Way up the try hard UA-cam alley.
Good chance hawthorn don't win their flags without Hodge and mitchell
