Over the course of the season, here's what you'll experience:
What does it take to keep a high octane drag car running at top speed over the course of a grueling season? Worse yet, in a sport that relies on cat-quick reflexes, how does an aging 60 year old engine-building drag racing master compete against opponents half his age? "Shifters USA" powers the viewer into the drag race pits as veteran driver Kurt Huntington and his crew travel the country to pit his beloved '68 Camaro against the USA's best drag racers for a head to head $2K cash prize!
Shifters USA follows Kurt, manager Gene Phillips and the Shifters tech crew ("Big Dale", "ChickenLeg" and "The Tuner") as they build and maintain 800 horsepower race cars over the course of a grueling season stretching from the Deep South to the upper Midwest. Not content just to compete in these race events, the Shifters USA squad challenges the most competitive racer of the day to a head to head, one shot "Clash For Cash!" match race. If Kurt wins the shootout, he takes home $2,000 in cold, hard cash. If he loses, he's forced to hand over the 2 grand to his gloating opponent. There will be some spirited trash talking!
Multiple in-car cameras and a crew of HD specialists will bring viewers high definition behind-the-scenes insight into all the engineering labor, time and money that goes into producing a feared racing competitor. Will Kurt and his '68 Camaro SS hold up for the entire season...or will he leave a trail of broken parts and shattered dreams on the strip?
Hey I used to live down there round Farmington,I miss don plemmons, ken reganthal,Ricky smith..don't ever forget Todd tutterow.all local guys
Beautiful!
Ain't nothin' over 'til it's over.
What a fun video!!
What brand transmissions do they use ? Model?
Just watching the video gets your excitement level up. It’s an addicting sport to say the least.
Best Video I ever watched ! I'm an old manual man racing for 30 years . Those kids are good ,but they push the limit early, and they are sometimes nervous! Don't sell yourself short. Guaranteed you can read the track better, and get in them young guns head.u know it's a mental game too. But I do love the rebirth of the drag racing scene. You keep catching gears, kicking ass,and takin names!!! Definitely subscribing
I just left Curt’s house. What a blast. He has another 68 Camaro that is awesome. His garage is full of super chargers, SB2 NASCAR engines, Pro-stock car, exotic big block engines, tunnel rams and dominator carbs. He’s got stories to tell that make you feel the excitement of racing. Great guy!
I agree...I’ve broken all kinds of stuff with stick shift cars.. paddle disk clutches destroyed everything..lol
Coordination. Skills.. Anyone can race a super stock automatic.
One of much better videos…need more of them !
That was great, and both dudes were cool.
Sportsmanship.
Well done to both.
All that bouncing with the 55 shows you need another look at the set up ! It costed him 1.5 sec at least.
I love rowing through the gears in my 454 powered '50 Chevy. All but one of my hot rods were built with manual transmissions. Loved shifting the V-Gate shifter in my big block '64 Malibu. Would love to have one in my '50 but those available are either junk or the sellers think they're made of gold.
MrIgor1955 what
What size motors and what et awesome race
Awesome seeing farmington dragway in a youtube video. Been there lots of times for quick 8 pro mods, test and tune, and of course the gear jammers.
Bravo Shifters. That was some great racing!!! That big block Camaro is such a beast!!!!
Both Drivers done Super Awesome, Great Sportsmanship, I would rather watch races like this anytime with down to Earth gentlemen than that “No Prep, or Street Outlaws” dramatic Bullshit!!!
I have a friend of mine years ago he was racing around the round car and it was pretty fast car I’m not gonna tell you it was 1000 hp or something like that I was right around 475 horse small block Chevy and he had a 9 inch Ford and he used to wear or a ring and pinion nut every season I convinced him to try using Amsoil gear lube he had three seasons on those gears and they were still in excellent shape my recommendation give it a try this is Jim mungai from Kennerdell Pennsylvania
Three pedals seperates ALOT of racers!
for land sakes show the whole race without all the drama editing. although the two seconds of the camaro freight training the shoe box was priceless
Love the shifter racing! That’s drag racing right there!
I have a 67 Camaro but not that fast, but love to race it. Great video.
If those two cars normally cut similar ETs there is no way the. camaro wins being beat that much on the tree.
So did they pick a car that is too slow to win anyway?
Please explain.
LOL don't count out old school they're slow in the garage fast as hell at the track
Now THAT was a race!
Im a diehard ford man, but even i have to admit that Camaro is a badass car
I need more content, that was great but only one video on the whole channel 🤬
Very nice race for coming from behind, yes !
It doesn't matter how slow your reflexes become. You just need to learn to leave on one or two lights up the tree. haha! Actually, if it is two lights up, then maybe you shouldn't be racing.
Now you got enough to refill that hidden nitrous bottle
That was one hell of a race
Fantastic
What ET did the Camaro do
Wheelies look cool but when it comes to racing its is wasted forward motion. Got to set the car up so it goes forward and not up.
Bill Taylor no wheelies on stick racing equals more broke parts.
Bill Taylor - Tell that to multi-time NHRA or IHRA Stock & Super Stock champions. Sure, higher wheelstands may seem excessive but without proper weight transfer, heavier cars will spin the tires unless on a near perfect track surface while having similar horsepower. This applies to both automatic and stick shift cars. If the wheelie bars are too low to the ground, when they make contact, oftentimes they will unload the rear tires while pivoting slightly. Lastly, most of these racers enjoy the exhilaration of putting on a show as a few indicated in the video.
@@racer774 💯
Hey fella's If that rear was set up correctly that certainly WOULD NOT have ever happened .. it look's as if it was NOT set up right ..I know that setting up a rear correctly is vital which is why I don't ever try it I bring it to someone who has the rear end experience ..I've never had a failure except once when I had to use a 10 Bolt posi in my chevelle while mine was out being done ...
I gotta agree. That backlash in the rear could not have been set up right.

Maybe it’s my eyes at the 2:40 mark after he says are you kidding me i want the 2k he dose a burnout it’s only an open wheeler no wonder they going through gears get a Detroit locker in that thing
You don't actually think these cars use anything but spools do you ? You do realize nobody who drag races at the level these guys race use posi units right ...Do you know what a Spool is ???
It’s your eyes and lack of drag race knowledge. Next time I see Curt, I’ll show him this comment . He will have a good laugh.
@@TheRoguelement sorry for not getting back too you. When I started street/ strip drag racing mini spools are ok but if your going too do the job right you get a proper diff setup like mines a Detroit locker.
@@justpray365 I’m glad you both can have a laugh 😂 what type of creditable racing know how is learnt straight up. I’m shore when you stared you were probably a right shit head. So stop being a 1% keyboard warrior
@@adrianlancione7871 Retired, raced all of my life, know Curt personally and actually I was just ribbing you. You know having a little fun and kidding. That thing we used to do before everyone had to have a trophy for showing up.
Way only 1 video that was great.
Very cool 😎
Thank you i love my 55 best car ever.63 vette number 2
What a great little video!
it should be 10 k for all they do to run a "hobbie" like that. i would rather watch stick shift racing, some one might miss a gear at any time, over rev, shift to soon shift to late,, thats excitement thats skill thats driving.
UMTR. :)
Cool
that was awesome !!!!! I would've given him $500
Why don't have ford gasser,s
