    It is really easy to forget what you have in your stash so thank you for the reminder to use what you have. There are some lovely pages there and space for you to continue playing. Thank you for sharing this.

      Exactly right... I need to have a good old explore of my stash over the course of 2025 and remind myself of how much there is available to play with! As you'll see in the coming leafy Few Minutes of Fun this Saturday, I do have a plan to play in this book very soon... Thanks so much for your company on this creative journey.

    I also have a lot of old books that I work in, I love the different papers they can have, the different formats, they all inspire me differently and I feel like giving them another life to these old books that people read but don’t want anymore.
    Here in France we have what we call "boxes of books" install in the streets of villages, the principle is simple: deposit old books and who wants to take them by depositing other books or not, So books have another chance to get more people to travel.
    I love France Papillon’s creations, and how to explain her processes, as you are very inspiring, but the artists who work for Paper Artsy are all in your image of wonderful artists with a sense of sharing in something else.
    Paper Artsy is really a very good company that I like a lot.

      What lovely feedback about PaperArtsy - thank you, I'll pass it on!
      I completely agree about books... there is something magical about the old pages, the weathered covers, and giving them new life. How great to have those book boxes in the villages!
      Thank you so much for watching and for your thoughtful response.

      France Papillon brought a whole pile of hardback books to the workshop (all modern, but with the dust jackets removed)... when I saw the Terry Wogan one, I knew that had to be mine, having spent many years listening to him before setting off for school!
      I'm delighted you are enjoying the videos so much - that's wonderful feedback to read, thank you.

    I love that cover, AND the inside. Expecially those pages with the green cutouts of that rectangle TH die. Such a great idea to change that rectangle into something that "grows".

    • @w0rdsandp1ctures
      @w0rdsandp1ctures  3 місяці тому +1

      I knew the minute I saw that die that the first thing I would do with it would be to cut it up! I still haven't used it as a rectangle, as far as I can remember!! Isn't the cover wonderful - it was based on some sort of rusted rice paper which France Papillon brought with her... I must try to recreate it one of these days.

    Hello Alison! Thank you for sharing another beautiful journal… I love all of it including having unaltered book pages in between the artwork pieces. Pretty cool that the book is Terry Wogan autobiography- I had to look him up because I had never heard of him. I love how much texture there is on most of those pages and what a great reminder it is to use die cuts! I’m reminded of something Tim Holtz talks about from time to time which is batch creating - essentially pieces of stuff to have on hand when putting things together during another session. I have his wildflower dies in both sizes (love that idea of larger & smaller - same as that paper doll you used on one of the pages)… I’ve thought about die cutting a bunch of shapes, sentiments, etc. mostly for card making but love the idea of creating elements to use in an art journal.
    Hope all is well with you & yours… have a wonderful week! Thanks again for sharing your creativity and inspiration! 🙂

    • @w0rdsandp1ctures
      @w0rdsandp1ctures  3 місяці тому

      Yes, I guess batch creating is another way of referring to "fodder"... having lots of stuff ready to play with when the mood takes you. It's not really my main mode of creating - I tend to work in one-offs, but see tomorrow's leafy Few Minutes of Fun for an excellent example of one of my annual batch-creating habits!
      I have all possible wildflower dies - I love them so much - and yes, I do quite often cut spares of those when I'm cutting, and the recent label stamp sets are another good example... I think they'll be bobbing up in a Few Minutes of Fun episode soon.
      We're almost at the end of the week - I'm happy to be safely home and I'm starting to catch up with the backlog of lovely comments. Thanks so much, as always, for your company on this creative journey.

    What a gorgeous art journal this is filled with so many fabulous pages that all tell a beautiful story 😍 I enjoyed it very much to see that how you use your art journal and to realize that I use mine the same way...could that be because you inspired me to start one😉🤔I love that you left blank bookpages in between and wish I did that to, but from now on I will because it gives a certain vibe that I like❤Thanks again for the inspiration, Alison and have a wonderful weekend❣️

    • @w0rdsandp1ctures
      @w0rdsandp1ctures  3 місяці тому

      I think my original plan was that I would go back and fill in some of the gaps gradually until it was all full, and where there are lots of empty pages I will probably still do that... but yes, I now know that I will definitely leave at least a couple of blank pages between each layout. Like you, I love the effect of the "pause" between artworks. Happy weekend to you too!

      Oh my goodness... wishing you a very happy retirement - think of all those extra minutes you'll have for FUN!
      Sorry to mess with your timing - the Wednesday posting had to be for the Fodder Hop, as that was scheduled by Fodder School for the whole group. So I thought rather than have the two posts clash on the same day, I'd give this book a day of its own!
      Hope you are having a wonderful final working week.

    • @w0rdsandp1ctures
      @w0rdsandp1ctures  Місяць тому

      I don't usually remove pages when I'm working in altered books. I like the chunky look! We did roughen the page edges in various ways, but that was part of France Papillon's class (in which I made this journal originally), so I can't give away all the details.
      Thanks for watching and commenting.
