About Montenegro, you are right: our delegation sent the idea/plan of the performance one month before arriving to Turin, and nothing of that was prepared by the organizers. After that, the sun also failed so, as Vladana said, they have made some changes in the performance in the last minute and this performance was 5% of the original idea, which was supposed to be beautiful and emotional :/
Haha I’ve been calling Romania in the Eurovision Facebook fan page for weeks now! I was so happy they got through 🤣 Really stoked for We Are Domi - my personal number 1. I thought they would open, but still sad that they didn’t get a later draw.
I knew Domi would come through and the staging had SO much potential and they NAILED it. Austria on the other hand...the vocals couldn't be saved. Domi saved her performance in addition to the lighting and deserved to qualify!
Don't worry about not liking Czech Rep so much at the beginning, you seem to be turning a little! For me it stands head and shoulders above Austria in production and energy, Czech Republic is my number 1, and Austria was near the bottom for me; as always viva la difference. I was delighted that Poland, Romania and Sweden got through, but sad for Ireland and Montenegro. Kinda actually glad San Marino didn't qualify, for me a bit too much needless gratuitous raunch and didn't need to see it again on Saturday.. (listen to me going all Victorian!!) Have a great Friday Shaun, wish I was in Torino 😍
Shane still living is best life! :D I was surprise with Belgium passing, Cypros was a bit of a let down and I love the song (guilty pleasure). I got winner vibes from Poland and Sweden, and Spain is killing it this year!
I was so nervous that Estonia wouldn't qualify, thank God he did. There will be no rioting anytime soon. Overall very happy with the qualifiers. Poland was incredible.
Thanks for sharing your experiences of the night, it was fun to hear! My personal winner of the night was Sweden, Cornelia, she nailed it!! ♥️ Despite all the troubles with sound and bad camerawork on earlier rehersals, she performed outstanding. I can agree that the initial close camerashots could have been better, but not too much to not enjoy the song. Apparently the whole arena sang with the song from the first verse🙂. Since I couldnt vote for her, I voted for Australia most, I mean, that voice and staging, it was an explosion of impressive talent and visual impact. Estonia also got my votes, his smile is infectious together with the songs highlights "I hope, I hope". Finland got some few votes as well (and yes they like beer😉, having relatives from there). Nice reasoning there regards to winning the UMK. My suprise (but also not) was Belgium, because he hasnt been consistent vocally at the pre parties, but tonight he was in tune, his best performance, so I can understand it. Azerbaijan, probably got many votes from the juries, not suprised because his strong vocals, but the song is not overly exciting for me personally, even fine melodyshiftings and dynamics. Malta was not entirely in tune, maybe some reason for why she didnt get through, but wow she did her best with strong engagement in her performance and shined. They all deserved it, but I understand that many lost some favourites. Cyprus for ex. Beautiful song, but she wasnt 100% vocally. This will be a "thrill" coming up! 🙂 "Live your best days there!" 🙂🌺🌹
Very happy because Serbia, Estonia & Czech Republic are through, but disappointed seeing San Marino gone. The performance was obviously a bit too much.
This semi final was amazing. So better than the first one. I really wanted 15 songs to qualify! Finland was fantastic. One of the best show opening ever❤️ Poland was a winner for me, even if I think that they put to many water drops on the screen. Ochman was amazing as always. I am so happy for Australia, Estonia and Romania!! Unpopular opinion: I would like to change Azerbaijan for Israel. I.M is my guilty pleasure of this year. I also enjoyed Sweden! And finally I cry for Cyprus 😭😭😭
Gutted for Ireland missing out. You know I've loved that song from the very first listen and while I was trying to remain realistic about its chances, her rehearsal clips and live performance gave me hope that she might just make it through. Ah well. Estonia made it! So at least one of my children is in the final 🤣 (songs I've adopted as personal faves that aren't really The favourites in the competition). I actually think Estonia did a really good job working around that black sun. The lighting choices made all the difference and prevented it from just looking like it was in the way. Which it is, but the lights softened it a little bit and we all got distracted by Stefan's energy anyway. They made the best of the circumstances they were given and it seems to have paid off because he qualified! Yay! I actually had a feeling we would get all three dramatic male ballads in the final. I like that they announced Azerbaijan first so we all collectively would go 'WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR THE OTHER TWO." But I wasn't worried. Australia was making it through on the visuals and vocals alone and Poland has been a popular choice from day one. Although I will admit I personally found all the camera effects distracting. I understand what they were going for, and I know a lot of people really liked it, but I felt like I was constantly trying to look past them to see the performance but they kept popping up and blocking my view 🤣. I think there were some really nice visuals in there though, and he sounded fantastic as always.
Oh i loved the studio version of Cyprus and it makes me dance unconsciously. So i was very surprised that the performance was so slow paced and the live vocals unfortunately were not great. But I'm super happy about Romania this year. Stole my heart and just keeps making me happy. I'll probably be the #1 fan of WRS in the spotify rewind haha

This is the first year I love nearly every song though I hope the most that UK will win. Thank you for your reaction videos, you are great and so nice and respectful
Austria looked cold, empty and distant, vocals were underwhelming. Czech was warm, rich, inviting, and Domi was working that entire stage by herself, vocals were great too, that's the reason. i don't think neither jury nor tvs had Austria through but for sure Czech sailed in both, possibly 4th overall. Gutted for Ireland, but from my non-esc watching friends here in serbia they called it trashy so idk about that. My heart fell through my ass when Konstrakta was announced last. I have a conspiracy theory on the voting. UKR and NED were called 8th and 10th on Tuesday and Sweden and Serbia 8th and 10th last night which I think means UKR won semi 1 and NED got 2nd and SWE won semi 2 and SRB got 2nd, or the other way around. Btw I voted for SMR, IRE and MNE, never voting in the semis again, my vote is a death sentence.
@@delfinka101 Poland looks weird, the Augmented reality is simply bad, ochman does sing the song perfectly but thats expected from a clasically trained opera singer standing still. My problem with Poland is the chorus and Ochmans personality or lack there of.
I enjoyed SF2 but I was more invested in SF1. I am glad that we will see Sheldon and WRS in Grand Final. On the other hand I am sad that we will not get to see performances from Achille, Brooke, Vladana, Andrea, but most of all Andromache. That must feel good meeting all these people that love Eurovision as much as you do.

For the comparison of Austria and the Czech Republic, Austria stayed with weak vocals from pre-parties even in the live show while Czechia so improved and delivered especially in high tones she was so on point. The staging of Czechia was also much better. But the main difference was in music itself. Austria was the reincarnation of the worst Euro-trash dance aka DJ Bobo while Czechia has a modernly dated and much more musically intelligent sound behind them.
This! Austria was like something from Viva 1 chanel, or Bravo dance hits compilations in the 90's - absolutely " the worst Euro-trash dance aka DJ Bobo". (fun fact - he is probably my least favorite "musician", ever, to put it politely). Czech, on the other hand was great modern electro-pop with Scandinavian touch - so those are not comparable in any way except both being dance-y. Austria is for your local village club, and Czechia is for the some huge summer festival stage.
@@igortirkajla8042 100%. However, as much as Euro-trash 90's groups like 2 Unlimited almost killed electronic music as a whole genre with their insultingly blunt music, at least their vocalist could actually sing. That bit sums up my feelings about Austria's entry but not in a very positive way. :)
@@petrstanik7597 exactly. I even can forgive vocal imperfections if the song is good (f.e. Lena's entries in 2010. and especially 2011). Or the opposite - I couldn't care less about angelic voice if song isn't good (think every cheesy Maltese ballad ever). But Austria was simply bad by both criteria - dated, and sung badly.
Okaaaay can we all agree that Konstrakta slayed the competition! She is da queen! Fingers crossed ‘In Corpore Sano’ will reach top-5 or even top-3 on Saturday. Ochman, on the other hand… Man, I am a bit disappointed with the stage and some dated effects during the song, I do prefer his performance at national selection. Still love the song and wish him all the luck. Sweden and Miss Cornelia did a good job, it remains my 3rd favorite. WRS pleasantly surprised me, I was bopping to Llámame. Overall great night, though I am sad for Brooke, her song grown on me lately.
Thank you Shane for your analysis! Usually I predict like 5/10 of the qualifiers max, now I got 9/10! I had Israel/san marino/cyprus instead of Belgium. I did not see Belgium going through. Nice song, but the staging... Did something happen in the jury show regarding Belgium? He was asked at the press conference how he felt qualifying especially after the jury show, I got the feeling something bad happened? I feel sorry for Cyprus. The vocals were off especially at the beginning, I guess she was a bit nervous. But the performance was otherwise better than I expected, not that immobile as I feared. Happy that the Rasmus got through. The vocals were so much better now and the band came alive with audience present. I hear you have witnessed the union of alcohol and finns 😅 I hope they behaved themselves, though! It's nice to hear they were nice to swedes, that is not always the case, especially when competing against each other 😅
The balkans not the Baltic’s 🙏 well Macedonia-Serbia-Montenegro-Croatia-Slovenia-Bosnia/Herzegovina are all ex-Yugoslavia, these countries used to be one major country, they are not foreigners between them, love is love and brotherhood above all ❤️❤️ thats why they are supportive of each other because they are culturally and linguistigly connected
I am in the uk and voted for romania, poland, czech republic, Ireland ,my winner over all sweden , nut i was not happy with belguim or sebia but everyone to their own .
People are still shading Poland in the comments of other videos especially Noosh's but they are wrong! They're just hurt that Ireland didn't get through. So glad Estonia's through.
Okay, let's try and do this again. And fingers crossed you read this Shane 🤣 Oh wow, you met SuRie? I actually have a funny story from when I was in Stockholm when I walked past Joe & Jake without noticing them. You must remind me to tell you about it sometime 🤣 I predicted 9/10 for this SF. I had Ireland qualifying over Belgium. Qualifiers: Belgium - A bit surprised after he fluffed the big note in the jury show. I always thought it was a bit forgettable, but clearly, it was enough to qualify Czech Republic - Pleased it qualified, it was a great live performance. For me, "Halo" is still a stronger song. But on live performance, this was just way better Azerbaijan - I always had a sneaking suspicion this would qualify. It had great staging and vocals, so no surprise it made it Poland - Pleased for you, Shane. The full performance was very strong and enjoyable and vocally Ochman was strong as always Finland - Pleased for them too, vocals were solid and it was a nice piece of nostalgia for me Estonia - Pleased the staging issues didn't affect Estonia too much. The audience shots helped to elevate the song, together with Stefan's enthusiasm Australia - It was a strong vocal. I am sure the juries loved it. I still don't think this will do that well with the televote, think there are other big male ballads that will appeal to the public more. Sweden - As expected, and super pleased. Still think Sweden can challenge for the win. Romania - This one has been really growing on me. Super pleased it made it Serbia - I started to get a bit worried towards the end. But so pleased Serbia made it. Loved the audience clapping along to the chorus Non-qualifiers: San Marino - I think this might have qualified with the televote, but I think the juries probably sunk it. I did throw it a televote Ireland - This should have qualified. Brooke put on a great performance. Such a shame Ireland missed out. Also you met Scott Mills? He is involved in my Joe & Jake story 🤣 Israel - Really sad to lose Israel, but you know I always loved this. For some reason, people just took against Michael right from the start, which makes me feel sad Cyprus - The live performance was just very flat and the vocals were not strong enough sadly Georgia - It was fun, but I kinda wanted it to be even more crazier Montenegro - Yeah, this just got lost and forgotten about. You make a very good point about budget and pull that the bigger broadcasters have Malta - I think the biggest downfall here is that the song was probably too "cliched Eurovision". I also didn't think the vocals were strong enough from what I heard on the TV North Macedonia - Like Montenegro, this just didn't really stand out. But I am sad for Andrea, especially with all the flag nonsense she is going to have to deal with when she gets back home Also, love you mentioning Bosnia & Herzegovina when they are not even participating 🤣 Glad to hear you are having such a great time. Hope you enjoy the family show 😊
Ireland was by far the worst trash in that SF, and not to mention her iritating weak vocals. The song was even too childish for JESC. They never had a chance to qualify. Without their allies, UK and Australia, she would have been last in the SF again, which it deserved, because all the others were a million times better.
You didn't like Poland's entry in 2019? it was so cool! Mostly in Polish, with a punk-folk feel, and the harmonies (always a plus). Going by what you said about Belgium - it's kinda frustrating to think that juries are afraid to put their name down as supporting a song that's more out-there, even when all the elements (staging/vocals/etc.) are on point (Portugal 2019 comes to mind), and will typically support classy/radio-friendly songs for reputation... I don't know how countries pick their juries, but they should really go for variety (ages, musical tastes, backgrounds, etc.)
Did you just give us an Easter Egg? Australia’s song is the only one that isn’t underlined in the list of qualifiers. It’s ‘Not The Same’! Well played Shane! 😘
overall happy and not really surprised by the 10 that got through, but very sad for Brooke 😭 I've got no idea what changes Montenegro wanted, but the big question is just how feasible were they? I would hope that everyone was being treated equally, and that they were bending backwards to try and deliver staging that every country was at least comfortable with, but that's only possible if those requests are actually possible. Did my use of "bending backwards" make your brain go "just to fit in"??? 😁
I am sad about Cyprus, but along with poor vocals and staging that didn't really work, I understand why it didn't connect. I voted for Cyprus anyway but clearly it wasn't enough. I agree about seeing a comparison between CZ and AT video, that would be interesting. Overall, happy with the results. Edit: I hope that San Marino, Malta and Cyprus NQ'ing this year will not affect Monaco's potential plans to return to the competition in 2023. I mean it's just one year and they all qualified last year do hopefully they'll see the bigger picture.
I think yesterday evening there were some very, very strong performances that turned the tide around. Czechia, Finland, Belgium, Azerbaijan... I hadn't really paid attention to those four, they weren't among my favourite and they still are not. But I will admit that they did great, they put a lot of energy in and the public must have felt that. That goes for Australia too. I like Sheldon but not his song but yesterday he was on fire. I liked Ireland, it was nice, but I missed that energy and voters must have missed it too. Just to be a touch unpopular I'd say that Konstrakta wasn't at her best. I love her song, she's in my personal top three, but yesterday evening she wasn't as convincing. I am sorry to see Israel and San Marino go. One thing that comes to mind is how both song have direct competition: Israel with Romania and Spain and San Marino with all this year's quirky songs and Finland. I wonder whether the judges simply voted them out not to have too much of the same vibe in the final.
I think if I could talk to Brooke I'd say something like 'you did good kid and should be proud you did yourself and your country justice' but then I'd tell her that she's young enough she's got time on her side and to focus on the experience, exposure and goodwill she gained which will stand her in good stead as she builds her career. Cyprus yeah I worry too that they won't try that sound again (which is a lovely sound) and that they'll send Fuego 4.0 next year. I do think as Rambo Amadeus was right there's two tiers of Europe and North Macedonia isn't in the first class cartridge. Malta - no shade on Emma but I hate that generic pablem of a song I'd have been so pissed off if it had Qed.
This is really personal and random but the Czeck Republic song is the kind of sound that gives me sleep terrors, this song together with Switzerland, Austria, Georgia and the Circles one from North Macedonia if I remember correctly really make my skin craul. This is why I had the impression that this year was messy, generic and dark, because I genuinely have nightmares because of music and till now this hasn't happend in Eurovision for me, it is my favorite show and to have 5 of this type of songs really ruined it for me. Physically I cannot stand some types of sounds, if someone plays rap music sung by men with very deep voices I need to puke, this also happens to me with Stromae- Alors on Dance ( when it was popular some years ago I used to get very sick) and with the I'LL take you to the candy shop song that still plays in many gyms to this day.

Belgium was ok but so a forgettable song. Same for Azerbaijan, great vocals, I can’t remember the song. Estonia it was like watching the Tennessee entry in the ASC, never gonna listen to it again after the show, maybe in some bourbon adv. 🤷♀️ Finland honestly was a bit average in every aspect, vocally, staging and the song itself lacks of some layers maybe. So glad for Czech Republic 🇨🇿 I immediately loved that song since it was released And finally I’m so gutted that Achille lauro did not qualify. How did you dare Europe!!! I mean ok he doesn’t have super vocal abilities but for a moment I forgot he was a contestant, it looked like an interval act. He is just so charismatic. The best performance of all 40! And I will definitely listen to this song for a long time. I’m ok with all the rest. GOOD LUCK GREECE 🇬🇷
20:40 Sorry, I give MBD no excuses: this guy is creepy and obnoxious and I am really glad he didn't qualify also considering the song is nothing special although he performed it well. Seeing him insert himself amidst the hosts, while on live tv, and repeatedly trying to kiss one of them was disrespectful and offensive and might have hindered his chances badly. Besides, according to other commentators, it seems he has had this sort of attitude all the time and it's just too much. Embarrassing.
Michael's performance was amazing, but I just couldn't get myself to vote for Israel for their continuous occupation of Palestine & killing their civilians. Sorry to put it that way, but that's just a reality. And seeing how EBU & the fans have reacted towards Russia this year, the same energy needs to be put towards Israel.
my impressions: Sweden, super overrated Serbia, if we exclude staging, boring Estonia, totally flat Romania, unbearable regetton cliché .. Very good Belgium, a big injustice towards Andrea's Circles, in my opinion the best of the evening, a great shame for San Marino, which absolutely deserved the final. I don't like the way the predictions look like.
So what do you think of the 10 qualifiers from semi 2? Are you happy let? Let me know in the comments below :-)

I loved DJ Bobo, great memories from Spain summer beach parties in the 90’s 😂😂
I only felt strongly for Czech Republic and Romania (my country) In this semifinal. So I'm very happy 😁
I am in the uk and voted for romania, poland, czech republic, Ireland ,my winner over all sweden , nut i was not happy with belguim or sebia but everyone to their own .
Quality always qualifies over trash.
Hello
Are they okay they wanted my heart to stop for Serbia
Im soo happy that Stefan went thru
A bit pitty about Cyprus but okay
Poland wow
People are still shading Poland in the comments of other videos especially Noosh's but they are wrong! They're just hurt that Ireland didn't get through. So glad Estonia's through.
no one is shading poland?
Okay, let's try and do this again. And fingers crossed you read this Shane 🤣
Oh wow, you met SuRie? I actually have a funny story from when I was in Stockholm when I walked past Joe & Jake without noticing them. You must remind me to tell you about it sometime 🤣
I predicted 9/10 for this SF. I had Ireland qualifying over Belgium.
Qualifiers:
Belgium - A bit surprised after he fluffed the big note in the jury show. I always thought it was a bit forgettable, but clearly, it was enough to qualify
Czech Republic - Pleased it qualified, it was a great live performance. For me, "Halo" is still a stronger song. But on live performance, this was just way better
Azerbaijan - I always had a sneaking suspicion this would qualify. It had great staging and vocals, so no surprise it made it
Poland - Pleased for you, Shane. The full performance was very strong and enjoyable and vocally Ochman was strong as always
Finland - Pleased for them too, vocals were solid and it was a nice piece of nostalgia for me
Estonia - Pleased the staging issues didn't affect Estonia too much. The audience shots helped to elevate the song, together with Stefan's enthusiasm
Australia - It was a strong vocal. I am sure the juries loved it. I still don't think this will do that well with the televote, think there are other big male ballads that will appeal to the public more.
Sweden - As expected, and super pleased. Still think Sweden can challenge for the win.
Romania - This one has been really growing on me. Super pleased it made it
Serbia - I started to get a bit worried towards the end. But so pleased Serbia made it. Loved the audience clapping along to the chorus
Non-qualifiers:
San Marino - I think this might have qualified with the televote, but I think the juries probably sunk it. I did throw it a televote
Ireland - This should have qualified. Brooke put on a great performance. Such a shame Ireland missed out.
Also you met Scott Mills? He is involved in my Joe & Jake story 🤣
Israel - Really sad to lose Israel, but you know I always loved this. For some reason, people just took against Michael right from the start, which makes me feel sad
Cyprus - The live performance was just very flat and the vocals were not strong enough sadly
Georgia - It was fun, but I kinda wanted it to be even more crazier
Montenegro - Yeah, this just got lost and forgotten about. You make a very good point about budget and pull that the bigger broadcasters have
Malta - I think the biggest downfall here is that the song was probably too "cliched Eurovision". I also didn't think the vocals were strong enough from what I heard on the TV
North Macedonia - Like Montenegro, this just didn't really stand out. But I am sad for Andrea, especially with all the flag nonsense she is going to have to deal with when she gets back home
Also, love you mentioning Bosnia & Herzegovina when they are not even participating 🤣
Glad to hear you are having such a great time.
Umetnica mora biti zdrava! :)
You're the cutest!! Aye
WRS Nr 1
Did you just give us an Easter Egg? Australia’s song is the only one that isn’t underlined in the list of qualifiers. It’s ‘Not The Same’! Well played Shane! 😘
Serbia & Konstrakta 👏❤️🏆
i have voted for Georgia :D
I'm happy Belgium got through. It's not a diva so a bit overlooked by the bubble. But in the show as a whole: deserved.
overall happy and not really surprised by the 10 that got through, but very sad for Brooke 😭
I've got no idea what changes Montenegro wanted, but the big question is just how feasible were they?
I think the difference between this and Austria is a) centred on the singer not the DJ b) field rested live.
i lost 2 of my favs this year 🇮🇸Q and 🇩🇰🇮🇪NQ but they were all predicted non so i cant be too upset LOL
So were SuRie and Boyana just hanging out then or were they doing something official?
Czechia and Georgia are types of music that are normally played at summer music festivals. Love them.
it sounded on TV like Cyprus had a very weak voice last night. She did not sound good enough live on that night
I wrote three comments but cannot see the second one: was it deleted and if so why? 🤷🏻♂️
Literally I promise you I only delete messages that:

- Porn
Promise I haven't deleted my end!
Sorry I can't help :-(
@@ShanesEurovisionReview thank you for letting me know.
I honestly had hoped it went into some sort of moderation although I couldn't figure out why.
Does YT removes comments for assorted reasons?
@@HeyThreshold i think if you write more than 1 comment quickly afrer eachother they get marked as spam. Not 100% sure but that's happened to me a couple of times as well
@@byankachan No my second comment was really long and was posted much later than the first one so I don't think it was that.
Maybe cause a link to an article was inserted but it should be caught into moderation I guess.
Thank you for the insight regardless.
Serbia is in 5-8th place in odds now so who knows
8:22 "I keep saying "my boy" like just because i'm wearing a Polish flag doesn't make Christian my boy"
Shut up, you keep saying it cause he is attractive and you wish he were your boy! 😆
Greece is also a balcan country you know!
Vote for Australia...
Belgium was ok but so a forgettable song. Same for Azerbaijan, great vocals, I can’t remember the song.
Estonia it was like watching the Tennessee entry in the ASC, never gonna listen to it again after the show, maybe in some bourbon adv. 🤷♀️
Finland honestly was a bit average in every aspect, vocally, staging and the song itself lacks of some layers maybe.
So glad for Czech Republic 🇨🇿 I immediately loved that song since it was released
And finally I’m so gutted that Achille lauro did not qualify.
The artist must be a winner, Konstrakta Serbia
I loved Malta! Unfortunately it didn't go through 😔 I don't understand why people so hyped about Serbia? 😬 I personally didn't like it all.🥱😅
